- Ceramics are very fragile, they are actually a type of glass and how fragile they are varies with thickness.
- Q: How do the Asahi brand compare to the Kyocera brand?
- This isn't a direct answer, but a commentary on my experience with a ceramic knife. I simply cannot recommend them for any purpose. I have very good steel knives, and they're tough. Ceramic knives are like glass; certainly never twist one or apply any sideways force. They break and chip easily. I keep my knives razor sharp, and you just can't do this with ceramic (yes they do dull). You can't use a knife to its full potential if you have to be so careful with it. Yeah, they're high-tech looking, but hardly any chefs use them. Save your money. I mostly use Wusthof. They're not too expensive, and they take a sharp edge. I also use a Chef's Choice, which has a very different and expensive steel alloy that supposedly holds an edge for a very long time. Wusthof is better.
- Q: I have curly hair, and I gave up on straightening it after I found it took forever and it never stayed perfect for even an hour. I love my curly hair, but sometimes you just need a change once in a while, you know? I heard the ceramic flat irons work best, but there are so many brands out there, all just as expensive as the other, and I want to make sure I get a top brand. - CHI OF COURSE!! a lot of brands claim to be ceramic, but chi is one of the few brands that not only the plates of the iron but all of the interworkings are ceramic too. what good is a ceramic plated iron be if behind it was some harsh metal? they are expensive but they really work and are so worth it. they have different types, but the origional will do just fine. The turbo doesn't get as hot as the origional so don't fall for the flashy package. they have a new super expensive one out too called the nano-silver, antibacterial, yada yada-I like my plain old-and so do a few girls I work with. They come in fun colors now, which of course cost more-but you can get a black one for like $130-good luck and make sure you use a good product between your hair and that flat iron : )
- Q: I‘m looking into buying a new flat iron, and saw this babybliss iron. It has really good reviews. ofcourse there are some that are not that good but overall the rating was good, although it caught my attention that the plates are titanium.so I was wondering if that‘s better than ceramic. I mean I have medium/long thick hair, but of course I don‘t want something that‘s going to burn my hair or melt my ends. I know straightening does cause the ends to split but over time, not in one use!
- CERAMIC!!! titanium is not good for your hair.i don't remember all the reasoning behind it. my hair dresser gave me this tip. ceramic, i guess is wayyyyy better for your hair. be sure to use heat protectant spray too!
- Q: i have a ceramic top stove,it‘s black with grey specks.I use weimans cooktop cleaner regularly but the two front big burners have a greyish chalky hazethats rather dull in the middle of the burners almost the same diameter of the burner.Is they‘re something I can do to remove this haze? Normally I use the weimans cooktop cleaner/polish with the special scrubber for cer. tops and for the heavy stuff use weimans with a razor blade,then polish off with a towel.please help! Thank You!
- As far as I know, the haze can't be buffed out. My range has similar haze. I caused it by using a stainless steel scouring pad with the recommended cleaner. I wouldn't use a razor blade with the cleaner or you will definitely cause damage. A razor blade on its own after or before cleaning the cook top is fine. Even scotch bright pads can etch a haze into your ceramic top if too much pressure is applied. I use a face cloth with the cleaner and lots of elbow grease. Anodized aluminum cookware really takes a toll on the cook top unless it has an aluminum or painted bottom. I would use something with an aluminum disk base or something with a glossy finish. I just bought some Circulon Infinite cookware. They have a thick, flat base of aluminum. My Analon stuff always warped when it got hot but it lasted a long time. Good luck.

- Use a big C clamp to push the caliper piston in as far as it will go. Remove the master cylinder cover before you do and place rags around the master cylinder to catch any overflow.

- I feel your frustration! I just got a ceramic stove 2 months ago. I was sooo happy to get it. I had been wanting one of these stoves for a long time. It looked like it would be so easy to clean. NOT! I agree, it looks great, but clean up was a pain. Until I got the white gunk called Bar Keepers Friend. My neighbor recomended it and it works great. Now I just scrape off the stuck on stuff with a razor and polish with Bar Keepers Friend. No problem. Good luck!

- I have ceramic braces and I eat anything I want. I remember they stained for a couple of months and they were a little yellow and I didn't know what to do, but then I started using whitening toothpaste, and I would leave it on each brace for like 15 minutes and they would become whiter again. Anyways, using whitening toothpaste with flouride should prevent the stains, it does for me.

- Hopefully,you have another bathroom. You can grout the tile after 24 hours,however,you cannot walk on it at all during the 24 hour waiting time. Have you removed the toilet? The tile needs to be applied under it. Then,the toilet needs to be re-installed with a new wax sealing ring. Good luck.
