Q: I asked this question earlier, but only got one reply..so I deleted it and decided to ask again. Ok, my husband and I bought a nightclub a year ago. This place belonged to my uncle and he had a painted concrete floor as a dance floor and of course we still do. It use to be a car repair place and a cattle butcher place in the past, so the concrete is old, and has oil on it so the paint comes up not very long after you paint it. So..what are my options? Something relatively cheap to make the dance floor more inviting? I would love to know what to use to make it easier on the legs and easier to clean. Thank you!
A good dance floor has a little give in it, a little flex. Just one inch off the concrete would do. Depending on how thick the the timber floor is would determine how far apart you have the timber underneath to support the wooden floor. If you have a comfortable floor to dance on then I'm sure it would pay for itself in no time.
Q: I will be using prepaded laminate flooring on top of a concrete slab. Do I need to use an adhesive ? How does the floor stay down ?
I am assuming that you mean a laminate wood floor glue is not normally used but read the manufacturers instructions You are putting it over concrete then you also need to put a vapor barrier down or your floor will absorb the moisture through the concrete and swell and become garbage
Q: Anxious
Causing the white mark because the alcohol will be something on the desktop to dissolve out, such as wax, perspiration and other stains. You can try the following solutions: 1, with a little soap and turpentine mixture of turpentine, you can remove many dirt 2, with a good adhesive sticky glue repeatedly tear, you can remove some of the surface 3, with a little bit of sodium It is also possible to use a thin paint. 4, you can use hair dryer dry, and then gently scraping on a 5, with a cotton swab dipped in water to wipe. 6, wind oil fine wipe. 7, use a special cleaning agent or sports shoes to remove the cream wipe. 8, with the drawing with the 4b rubber is very soft that kind of Korean rubber can erase it. 9, if it is a long trace of traces have been hardened, you can use a hot towel to get it soft and then rub.
Q: Does anyone have any experience with painting a wood floor white? How did it come out and how long did it last? Did it get dirty very fast?
You would probably need to put an acrlyc sealer over the paint or polyurathene so it would not get scuffed up and dirty plus it would be easier to keep clean this way!
Q: Is there anything on the market that lets you huge marks on floors? My freind dropped something in my perfect living room floor and now it has a ugly mark.
If it's a hardwood floor, I've been told by flooring specialists that you can leave little puddle of water on the dented spot for a couple of days and it will cause the wood to swell back out, removing the dent. Just cover it with an upside down plastic bowl or something to keep from stepping in it. I tried this once with a hardwood floor (maple) and it took some of the dent up. Otherwise, you're looking at refinishing the floor (hardwood) or replacing a section of laminate.
Q: i want to replace the old carpet to laminate flooring. can anyone provide me with a step by step guide on how to do this? i have also purchased some underlayment for laminate flooring to go along with the flooring.
Here is what I have noticed with my friends who have laminate or hardwood floors versus those of us that have carpeting. 1 - Wood floors are very unforgiving with crumbs and such on them, you have to constantly sweep them to keep them looking nice and crumb free. When they go unswept they will actually look worse than most carpetings. 2 - Carpets with pets will need to be vacuumed at least every other day. While carpeting is forgiving and doesn't show all the crumbs that might be on the floor, you do have to worry about spills and the whole allergens being trapped in it and all. 3 - With laminate flooring, if you drop something on it there is always the chance that the laminate will crack and the wood underneath will show through..while something like Bamboo, which is a renewable resource is the same color all the way through. So, for me it is a matter of wether you want to vacuum constantly or sweep constantly. I grew up in a household where we had carpeting and dogs inside. None of us had a problem with allergies or anything like that...but, my Mom does vacuum every other day and would also sweep the tile every other day as well. I think it is sixes as far as work and upkeep goes...wood is just more popluar right now.
Q: Tare out old floor and toilet and and llay the tile how much
One poster is right on the money. It does vary but I used to charge 30$ to R&R the stool, rip out varied as to what needed to be ripped out ( you don say) but that could range from 50/60 $ to 200. All depending on what was needed to be ripped out. This included removal and disposal. Prep ranged from 2$ to 3$ a s/f . This depended on if the floor needed a cement board or over slab. This was taxable stuff like thin set, grouts, cement board, Labor for floors was 3.50$ a s/f. So your looking at 6$ a s/f(+-) for all prep materials and labor. Plus rip out, Plus tile, a big variable. So you can see it varies.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: How do you remove old vinyl flooring which is stuck to the floor? Not sure what it is but I believe it's some kind of glue. Thanks!
You didn t say if your on slab or wood.. If slab elbow grease and scraper along w/ a heat gum helps.. If you over wood the same method but check 1 thing. If the vinyl was put over a 1/4 inch sub floor normally called luan, get under that and pull luan and vinyl up all at once .. Much easier..GL
Q: ho do i remove linolium flooring from my kitchen without damaging it???
very sharp scraper and heat gun
Q: I work at a museum and we have terrazzo floor and marble floor in the lobby. The ice melt salt gets tracked in off peoples shoes and when we mop the floor with plain hot water it leaves behind a white chalky residue on the floor. Even when we change the water frequently. is there any floor cleaner or anything that we can mop the floor with that will not leave behind a chalky residue from the winter ice melt salt??
The club soda might work, but I just want to warn you not to use vinegar on marble. Not even mixed with water. Vinegar can scorch marble. GL
