- Q: how do I wire the generator so it can spin 360 on the pole with out snapping the wires.... Thanks
- You need some ring contacts and brushes that will be touching those rings that will be spinning while the generator does to complete a circuit without twisting wires. Make sure you get the right size rings and wire for the amount of current
- Q: what does a #12 copper wire look like and waht does a #14 wire look like if you got pictures post a link thanks
- Wire okorder These sizes are only for the wire, not the insulation on it. They all come in many colors.
- Q: I am trying to take 4 lights in the basement that currently all have to be turned on independently and wire them all in series to a single switch. I just took the wires and put them to the switch and then to the first light. it came on but when i held the silver metal shielding piece that houses the wires, I got a tingle. I think that would mean I need to connect the third wire. The grounding one. The light did come on which I think means I had the pos and neg connected right. Where do I connect the ground wire and what caused the tingle? by ground wire I mean the third wire that is nothing but copper. I think I just put it to the case or the light or whatever looks like a good spot to get grounded. any extra knowledge or advice is a big help! In the mean time I will be searching the web for how to's.
- Why do you have a clean change with 4 terminals? It seems such as you have a three/way change w/floor rather of a single pole change? verify THIS 4 TERMINAL change until now YOU proceed. A single pole change would desire to have 3 terminals. Line, load and floor. you're saying the change container has only 2 wires. it quite is all you would be able to desire to connect a single pole change working a easy from one region in older installations. interior the change container - the white one is warm to the change and is a runner, (criminal). The black is the load cord lower back to the ceiling easy. Sounds as though the independent is already interior the ceiling junction container ,(2 white wires taped jointly and linked to the lamp). the two black wires are warm and taped jointly to the white to the change. would desire to be waiting to connect the white and black, interior the change container,to the recent change. because there is not any floor on the change - the floor terminal heavily isn't used. Disconnect the breaker or fuse for this circuit until now attempting to connect this change!
- Q: Hello,I got a ventilation fan for the bathroom. The fan has 2 wires and there are 2 wires sticking out of the wall. How do I know which wire connects to which wire? What would happen if I connect the wrong wires?
- Usually its a white/red and a black wire that stick out of the walls/ceelings. All you need to do is to match the colors together, red/white on red/white and black on black. White is usually the live wire and black is the return wire. If you plug them the other way around you can short out your lamp and pop your breakers or burn a fuse. just make sure the wire is not live so unclip your braker or unscrew your fuse for that circuit. If all your wires are black you will need a electric meter to know which one is which. Also sometimes black wires have a white line on them to differenciate from full black wires! hope it helps
- Q: Hello,I am trying to figure out what type of metal jewelry wire I need for a beading project. I found mostly copper wire at the craft store, as well as a smaller variety of aluminum and brass wire. Is this copper wire (came in many colors) a durable wire? It seemed very soft. Is there a stronger wire on the market? I am mostly looking for 22-28 gauge wire. Thanks!
- There okorder / and also look at the page on wire gauge chart. Hope this will help you to purchase the correct wire for your project.
- Q: Hello everyone! I have what is probably a very simple question.I'm not exactly a radio expert. So my question is this:Is there a difference between copper wire and antenna wire (copper as well)?
- For frequencies up to about 100 megahertz, any kind of wire will work, but it will not look very professional if you use, multi conductor cable with all the conductors connected at both ends. Over 100 feet between supports, it may not be strong enough in a high wind. Above about 100 megahertz 1/4 inch steel wire may work well if it is copper plated = most of the current travels near the surface = skin effect. The antenna wire is possibly hard drawn for extra strength. The cable between the radio and the antenna needs to good quality if this is a long distance, even at less than 100 megahertz Neil
- Q: I have two kicker cvr 12s looking to wire them to an acoustic 601se amp can someone please tell me how to wire them like by matching the dots up and stuff.
- Wire okorder / You want the series coils /woofers in parallel option.
- Q: ok...all the wires in my quot;atticare encased in this silver metal casing....when i opened a bathroom wall...the wires were also like that.....at the fuse box...they all leave like that........sooooo, can i assume all my wires are encased like that? does that make them pretty safe from rodents chewing? (yup-been watching Billy the Exterminator) why were they done like that? tx for any info....
- That casing is called greenfield mainly used in commercial wiring. It does make the wires safe no rodent eating through that stuff. Its wire like that to protect the wiring. Feel blessed it was wired like that. That type of installation is high dollar wiring. additional info Starting in the 1920's, some wiring was manufactured in flexible metal cable. This Greenfield or BX wiring proved much better than the knob and tube wiring because it shielded the wires from damage. The armored cable on Greenfield wiring lacked a grounding wire; the metal coils of the cable provided the ground.
- Q: the quot;rite-tempthermostat was ripped from the wall, and the brown wire, and red wires - both not labled are disconnected...where do they connect? please help....rite-temp thermostat model 8050c
- The Green wire generally is fan The red wires are hot to the AC and Heater The yellow wire is AC The white wire is common. Brown may be used for AC instead of red Hook the Green to the G terminal The Red wire to the Rh terminal The brown wire, I believe is Rc terminal White to W OR c (HOW EVER IT'S LABELED) Yellow to Y
- Q: i have an amp (sony xm 2002gtr) that says it requires 4 gauge wire..but they cost $100+ and i have plenty of 8 gauge wires. can i use two 8 gauge wires as a substitute for one 4 gauge wire?and also, i have my capacitor grounded to unpainted metal of my car AND the ground port of my amp..is that incorrect?
- Two 8-gauge wires combined are equal to a 5-gauge wire, but that should be close enough for that amp. Make sure each wire has its own fuse near the battery; 40-amp fuses would be a good choice. If you capacitor is connected to ground, and your amp is grounded, then you don't really need a wire between the capacitor's ground terminal and the amp's ground terminal. It doesn't hurt anything, though. If the only ground wire at the amp is the one that runs to the capacitor, then you're better off connecting the amp ground directly to chassis metal.
