Q:I need help hooking a remote wire to my jvc kd-g220.: The KD-G220 has only a blue/white remote output, and no true power antenna wire. If you have a power antenna, then you'll want to connect both the antenna wire from the harness and the amp's remote wire to the blue/white wire from the head unit. You don't really need any kind of adapter; just crimp or solder all three wires together. The head unit should be able to activate the amplifier and the power antenna from the same output without a problem. Electhrolite, I'm not sure how old the head units are that you've worked with, but any modern head unit's remote output is designed specifically to maintain the remote voltage for as long as the head unit is switched on. Keep in mind that the current draw on most amplifiers' remote terminal is less than .05 amps. There's no need to connect to an accessory power wire instead.

If the wire must be flexible then replace with stranded wire. Solid wire will be easier for you to work with but not will not work as well if the wire moves a lot. Additional Yes you could solder the wires if there is enough to hook to. The size wire I think you are talking about can be soldered with about any small soldering iron and resin core solder. You might even slip a piece of heat shrink tubing over the wire before you solder the wire. After making the connection you can slide the heat shrink tubing in place, heat the tube to insulate the connection.

Q:i have 2 audiobahn 12s and an adiobahn amp in my 2000 malibu...1. the thin blue wire that comes from the amp to the stereo is connected to an orange wire behing the (stock) stero, and when i turn off the car the amp stays on. does anyone know which wire to connect the blue wire to, so the amp turns off with my radio or when i turn off the key.2. only one of my 12s is hitting, i think ther might be a wire connected wrong behind the stero. since i have a stock stereo and i have a converter hooked up, because it had no rca inputs on it. its not the speaker or the rca wire itself, because when i connect it with a y cable to the amp one or the other will work...i would appreciate it if someone could help.: Ditch the stock radio and buy a new head unit with sub outputs. Do I need to do the pigtail here?: The question needs clarification. Sorry from what I understand now you have a so called plug.We pros call it a duplex receptacle. Real pros don't like to push in wires into the spring holes. We use so called wire nuts (marrets). ,Make a joint with 2 of the 3 black wires and make a so called pigtail 1 piece of wire about 5 .and screw it onto 1 of the 2 screws.(The darker one of the 2 screws) The remaining 3 rd black wire screw directly onto the other dark screw. Do the same with the white wires.and wire them onto the lighter screws. To check if you did it right look at the front part of the plug. The newer plugs have 3 openings where you plug things in. 1 slit opening for the Hot wire.It is the smaller one.1 slit the larger one for the neutral. and the round one for the ground. If you really want to do it like a pro make sure the rounded hole is at the bottom . I hope this helps.
