- Q: i know a lot will make them rust, but some? i was going to the store and there was a puddle, like 1inch deep, i thought it was less than that but apparently it wasn't. so are my bearings ******?
- Wheel bearings are shielded, oiled and in many cases high density plastic. Driving through a puddle is trivial.
- Q: i have a 1994 toyota pick-up with the 3.0 engine 4wd. the main bearings went out and i called to see how much they would cost and the guy asked me what kind they were. and i had no idea. anyideas?
- There are different size bearings, they vary depending upon the wear of the crankshaft and if it has been previously resurfaced. All the bearings will have just about the same cost. You will have to disassemble the engine and check the clearances with plastigauge or micrometer to know which bearing sizes you need.
- Q: My sister is very much into longboarding and has 4 boards, when I asked why one of them has no wheels she told me it was because she had no bearings and she needed new ones. So I want to get her some for Christmas. My question is what are bearings? Is it one size fit all, and what are the major differences if any? Also are there any department stores that may sell them?
- So if you look at any of her other boards you will see in the wheels there is a metal ring that is a bearing. A bearing allows the wheels to spin. One size fits all and differences are the rating also you need 8 bearings for 4 wheels -Ratings are like ABEC, ABEC 7 bearings are more popular. I recommend 7 lower numbers are slower and I hear bad things about anything higher, although Bones Bearings(a brand) has no scale ,but trust me these are some of the best bearings you will find, I ride them and many people as well ride them. Any skate shop would sell them. Probably not department stores. I recommend Bones Reds About $18 Bones Super Reds About $25 And any lucky ABEC7 Bearings Although I HIGHLY recommend the bones reds or super reds! Another thing you could get is bearing lube..it speeds them up
- Q: 2006 dodge status
- Simple rule for almost all wheel bearings. Snug the bolt up. Back it out a quarter turn and put the pin through. handy man's fool proof install.
- Q: Im looking for some really fast bearings. I don't use my board for tricks but mostly for speed. Can anyone tell me what are some very fast bearings?
- Speed is relative so long as use have decent, serviceable bearings, and have adjusted them properly. The wheel size will make a bigger difference in the speed. Smaller sizes-more rotation-less speed. Sorry the bearing hype is just that, hype
- Q: like anything around the house or cheap
- There are citrus cleaners on the market (you may have some around the house like Desolvit or Goo B Gone or some orange cleaner) which can be used for cleaning bearings with. Not all bearings are serviceable, meaning that you can remove the protective shield on one side. The ones that are usually have a rubber seal on one side and the other is metal. You have to pop off pin holding on the shield and remove it, then remove the ball bearings. You can drop them in the cleaner and wipe out the crud inside the housing, then dry them off good and allow to air dry then re-assemble. After that you'll need some oil or hi-speed grease to pack them with and put back together. For bearings that aren't servicable you have a couple choices, either oil them (which is messy and the dirt will stay inside, but they will be a little faster), or I think they sell some cleaner in a jar for about $8-10 you can drop them in which supposedly cleans them then you have to oil them. But I don't think it works that great Good luck
- Q: How do i put bearings in a skateboard if i dont have a tool?
- Just use the axel. Put one bearing on the axel and push the wheel on. Then do the same with the other.
- Q: i'm to cheap for Labrynth or ceramic.
- I got some bearings with my last complete that were in a red package, they were Bones but I can't remember what kind...like mini bones or something. I am such a cheap a$$ anyway but they worked a lot better than I expected. The last set of bearings I bought were Black Panthers before I joined the Navy. That was almost 7 years ago. Moral of the story, being cheap isn't always a bad thing.
- Q: Plz but the store/website down too! Thx
- Bones Reds FO SHO. if you have money then go bones swiss. #1 most preferred bearing by pros.
- Q: what is the diffrence between thrust and radial bearings?do redial bearing allow motion along the axis of the bearing?don't thrust bearing allow radial forces?i am confused, and i need some insight
- I okorder /... which turn out to just be what I think of as normal or traditional ball bearings. No, radial bearings do not allow motion along the axis - normally there is a stop on the shaft to prevent this and continuous movement would damage the inner surface of the race or the shaft. Depending on the type of race, having any significant axial force would damage the bearing, as would occur in moving the shaft axially. Thrust bearings in theory are entirely for taking thrush along the axis and properly positioned radial bearings handle the radial forces of belts, chains, wheels, etc. A roller bearing or taper bearing would be used to handle both in one location. In practice, a thrust bearing with a ball race of the right shape will handle radial forces of a significant fraction of the rated thrust.
