Q: I need to change/ repack the wheel bearings but i've never done it before but I am mechanically inclined enough to do it. Just need to know if theres any secret steps to follow. Any info would be great!!!
packing bearing easy... you get a palm full and take the bearing big side down and push it in your hand little at a time a round the outer edge gap...til it pushes the grease out the other side..... kind of keep doing it til you see new grease and your done.... when you tap in the rear seal on the hub put a small amount in the hub between the bearing but you dont have to but it dont hurt too... when you tighten the outer nut is tight and then back off to fit pin thru hole your done.. fast way to get seal off is after you remove outer bearing put nut back on and give it a good tug most of the time the seal will pop right out
Q: ok I took apart my bearings, cleaned the shields with water, put about 2 drops of lube in each after letting the bearings sit in a 50% alcohol solution for 10 minutes, put it all back together after drying off the stuff and lubing it. Just rode it today and it seems that the bearngs are making noise.... is this normal???
the proper way to clean bearing is to soak them in karosene and then pack them w lube/ grease the alchol proally dried em out
Q: OK, so our ball bearings on our 2003 Hyundai tib went out pretty bad!! We bought new ones from auto zone and replaced them, within a week the bearings were destroyed again, so we brought our car to the base auto shop. The told us the bearings we bought were bad. They replaced them and we just spent $405 for them to replace them, put a new tire on and to do an alignment. We picked up the car monday! It is now only Thursday, 3 days later and the car seems to be making a grinding sound like it was before the 1st time the bearings went out. What are the odds we got 2 bad bearings? We do know that eventually the axle needs to be replaced but 2 mechanics have told us that it will be months before it NEEDS to be done! I just don't understand. The car is in fair condition and worth around 3,9500 as a trade in. We will prob. just trade it in soon bc it's not worth it. Has anyone else had this problem!??
They probably didn't pack them if they are the rear bearings, the fronts are BCE-type and are sealed requiring no lubricant. If they guarantee their work take it back so they can make it right. If you are shopping for a new car don't bother trading it in, take out a craigslist ad and sell it cheap as a mechanic's special needing work. Hyundais turn into junk after they're paid for, don't buy another one. Look for a Toyota.
Q: Hey, ive been skating for a couple weeks and i could do some basic tricks. Im looking into buying a Blank Mini Logo Superlight. I was woondering what trucks, bearings, and wheels are the best for a begginer thats not totally new? Thanks
I would suggest if you are buying a Mini Superlight, it's gonna be a pretty darn light board. I woud suggest buying the lightest wheels and trucks you can find out there. Trry your local skate-shop, and ask them if they have any DESTRUCTO brand trucks or KRUX brand trucks. I have destructo RAGDOLLS, and they are pretty light. I recommend HUBBA or RICTA brand wheels. Don't buy huge wheels though. Buy about anything under 58 mm if you can. Remember, look for RICTAs. I recommend REDS bearings. They aren't too too expensive, and they work awesome. I have REDS Bones bearings. They cost about 15 dollars to 20 dollars Canadian. If you are willing to spend the $$$$ though, buy PIG or Black Panthers bearings. I don't recommend buying NINJA bearings, though. Yours Truly, Garrett Ibbitson.
Q: how do i change my swingarm bearings on my 2004 rm 125?
the bearings are press fit. you drive them out with a hammer and a punch. You need a hydraulic press to push the new bearings in place. The best way is to remove the swingarm and take it to the dealer to replace the bearings. The bearings usually get rusted up before they actually wear out. You might be able to clean them with solvent and regrease them.
Q: what will this repair entail - cost?
replacing the bearings would entail pulling the connecting rod caps off of the crank shaft, taking out the old bearings, and replacing them with new ones.... exactly how the job would be done would depend on the make/model of the car and engine. Otherwise, I would be more concerned about what stopped the oil from getting to the bearings, as that would probably have to be repaired as well, and there is a very good chance that other parts were starved of oil and were damaged.
Q: here's a link to rush hybrid bearings
dude you know what you need, rush all weather bearings. i got them, and 2 days ago, my board fell in the POOL!!!!!! the whole board sunk! my board is ok amazingly, it was in their for almost like, 2 minutes(its longer then you think), and my bearings are still workin brand new.no rust or anythings. their water and rust proof, their awsome too!!!! but get the rush hybrids if you dont get the ones i just told you about lol. sorry for the whole story ****.
Q: I currently have reds skateboard bearings and they are pretty good but i'm getting a new custom complete and i heard that bones bearings are pretty good to, if you guys can help me out, even if there are better brands post me an answer. Thanks guys.

Q: i just purchased a boat with a tandem axel trailor. the left rear tire on the way home after about an hour on the road heated up to the point grease was oozing out all over the rim and the hub was to hot to even touch. i tore the bearings out today and was wondering if it was indeed the bearings causing this to heat up or if there is something else i need to do and if it was the bearings what i need to do and how i need yo pack the bearings back in and get this to end the problems. the trailor has trailor brakes but i do not have the trailor hook up in my truck could this have caused this and if so how i could disable the trailor brakes to keep them from catching. thank you for all help
If the heat was caused by the bearings, they should be slightly discolored. On my tandem axle car hauler, I installed grease caps with zerk fittings on them. Before each long trip, I get out the grease gun and give each about 15 pumps. Since yours gets exposed to water, I would pull all and repack, looking for signs of corrosion, pitting or rust, and discoloration. Replace as necessary with new seals. Get the greasable caps.
Q: I am engaged in construction industry, I am looking for a reliable combined needle roller bearing supplier. Can you help me?
I will suggest you Global sparenparts private limited for needle roller bearings exporter.
