- Bones Reds bearings are personally my favorite bearing cause they are pretty cheap and will last you a very long time plus they roll smooth and fast ive rode some i got for maybe almost a year and they still ride great
- Q: what is the difference between alloy bearings and plastic bearings?
- Alloy bearings are med out of metal alloys. Plastic bearings are made out of plastic. The metal ones are more durable and last longer, but are heavier than the plastic ones.
- Q: i saw some that said speed demons, abec 7 and some that just said ABEC 7 which ones are faster?
- Speed Demons is a brand. ABEC ratings are a generic marking with almost no meaning for skate bearings. ABEC is for high speed machinery with much larger loads. ABEC 7 does not mean that they are better than ABEC 5, ABEC 3 or even ABEC 1. Some bearings without an ABEC rating are designed to be better for skating than ones that follow the ABEC standards. Some generic (no name brand) bearings can be wonderful but you never know.
- Q: i just bought brand new black panther ceramic bearings and they run hella slow can anyone give me advice (i know i should wait for the break in period to pass but they seem just a little to slow even for that)
- I don't know ,but i say just continue to wait for the break in period.. Break 'em in man. make sure the bearings are installed correctly .. Make sure there in all the way in the chamber of each wheel. Don't tighten the bolt on the wheels to much neither.. Another thing that can help is adding some of that special bearing lubricant.. Or you can also apply motor oil. Dip your finger in oil and gently rub it around the side of the bearings.. Not to much just a little .etc.

- The comments about lube and bearing installation are important. But also check cam tunnel true. The centerline of alll the cam bearing bosses must be in a perfect line. A good machine shop should be able to check the block's dimensions for this. May have to have the cam tunnel line-honed to assure the block is right.

- Q: I just bought a 1996 Dodge Dakota, and it has a right pulling problem. I just got done jacking up the front end, and i tried rotating the tire on the passenger side. The tire would not move. Since i am going to be soon tearing this vehicle apart could the wheel bearings be siezed, or does it sound like a stuck caliper?
- I would go with the brake problem first. Bang around on the caliper casting and maybe it will unseize the pads. Bearings are immersed in grease and rarely cause a problem.

- Ceramics are the biggest waste of money. They are no different that regular steel bearings if you know how to take care of them. At the price of ceramics, you can buy 7 or 8 sets of Magic, MileHighSkate, or DBS bearings. Go browse the silverfishlongboarding forums and you'll understand. None of the longboarders will tell you get ceramics. Seismic Tektons or Abec11 BIltins are the most i'll ever spend on bearings.
