- Q: can we install power 480 VAC and control 120 VAC cables,,, each one in different conduit but in parallel and adjacent ?also for two control cables ,,,, can they installed in one conduit ?
- Yes. That shouldn't be a problem. if it were data or extra low voltage dc then there could be some mutual induction issues. generally speaking. low and extra low voltage can be installed in the same conduit as long as the extra low voltage cables are insulated to the higher voltage present. ie use all cables rated at the highest voltage.
- Q: This is a very small system, just a tape deck, cd player, mp3 input, and a phono pre. This is then run from the L and R outputs from the mixer into a 2 channel EQ, then to a power amp (2x250 @ 2ohm), and from there to 2 vintage kustom speakers.Should I be using TRs or TS cables for all of these connections?FYI the speakers are about 25ft from the power amp on the opposite side of the room
- very interesting question
- Q: what is a power cable? What does a power cable have to do with an xbox 360?Is a power cable the same thing as an AV cable?
- The power cable is the Plug that goes from the Power outlet to your Xbox360. The AV cable is the cable going from your xbox 360 that splits into 3 plugs and plugs into your tv
- Q: What is the best tool or method in your opinion to locate cable damage causing current leak on several cables supplying outdoor lighting as detected by a tripping GFCI breaker. (Or water in a light obviously). Is there a meter that can measure that directly with the power off?
- I usually have one of my kids lick their finger and run it along the cable. a lightbulb in the mouth helps.
- Q: Can I use 300 v power cable on a cx500?
- The volt is not a unit of power. As the voltage supply in any country is 100V-240V then your cable is o.k. The important thing is the gauge ie the current (Amps) it can carry. As the mains power circuits in most countries is fused at 13Amps - 16Amps your cable has to be safely above that Amps are the thing that will cause a cable to overheat and catch fire Therefore check the gauge of you cable
- Q: im curious to know if using multiple small cables to power my amp is the same or better than using a single big one??like do three 4gauge wires give more power than one 1/0 gauge wire? or is it worse?and how do i know if my amp needs more current?? THANKS
- Running 2 seperate power cables is fine. In theory the current will split and each cable will carry the same amount of current. In reality, it will not be exact but it will be so friggin close that it doesn't matter!!! Yes you can run multiple cables, but two lengths of 4ga is going to cost you more than one length of 2ga. Unless you already have the stuff laying around, just get the larger cable. Besides, if you run two seperate cables, you will need to use some sort of distribution block to tie the two cables back together at the amp then have a conductor capable of carrying the current to your amp, or all your heavy cable doesn't mean squat. Less money will be spent in the long run by using one larger cable! As for how much current a size cable can carry: 14ga = 15A 12ga = 20A 10ga = 30A 8ga = 80A 6ga = 105A 4ga = 140A 2ga = 190A 1ga = 220A 1/0 = 260A 2/0 = 300A These wire ampacities are according to the NEC (National Electrical Code) and are set for wire to be used in any structure. The wire can actually carry more current than what I have listed, taking consideration that the wire is in an environment that it can be cooled or is in an open-air environment. If you run two 4ga wire to your amp, you have the ability to supply the amp with 280A of current (by multiplying 140 * 2). Do you need larger wire running to your amp? Only if you are having a voltage drop at your amp. The idea is to be able to supply the amp with 12V at its maximum current. If you run too small a wire to the amp, as you crank up the volume the ampacity of the wire will be maxed out and your 12V turns into something like 11,10,9... volts and your amp no longer amplifies your tunes.
- Q: Can anyone explain where I need to plug in the 6-pin cable for my ATI Radeon 1650 Pro graphics card? Or any pictures/diagrams? Thanks!
- Is it the AGP model or the PCI-e model? You don't need a separate power cable for an AGP card. The 4 pin and 6 pin power connectors on the newer motherboards are for PCI-e video cards. Do you even have an AGP slot? If so, then I doubt your motherboard even has a 4pin or 6pin SLI power connector. Just plug the card into your AGP slot and that's it. If it's the PCI-e model, then see if your MB even has a 4pin or 6pin SLI power connection on it. If so then see if your power supply has a 4pin or 6pin power cable and plug it into that slot. Depending on the power supply, you may not even need the extra power connect unless you are running 2 SLI cards at once.
- Q: My setup is an alpine MRX-M100 powering 2 alpine type R 12's on 4 ohm, and also an old eclipse PA 5422 speaker amp. The main thing is I have 4 gauge running from my battery to my amps, but I have this sort of distribution block that turns the 4 gauge wire into 2 8 gauge wires. I know that this probably isn't the best for the MRX-M100, but it's all I had or what I could afford at the time. The main thing I wanted to ask was is this bad for the amp, and what would it be like if I had 0 gauge coming off the battery so then it would be 4 gauge going to the amps? Would it be louder? Could I turn it up higher? because right now if I turn up the volume past a certain point the subs will just stop playing. If I just shut off my head unit and turn it back on they start up again. Your thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated!
- The thicker the cable the more power you can get to the amp...
- Q: Hey guys I have a compaq sr5550f desktop the power light under the cable is flicking green but the computer will not turn on or off yesterday it was fine but unable to connect to the monitor I have saying no signal? whats up with it it was fine two days ago I unplugged all cables and let it rest and still the same result even if i unplug all the cables it still flickers green the dies off then if i plug it back it does it again help?
- Does the fan spin (at the back, near where you plug in the power cable) at all? If not, you probably have a failed power supply that needs replacing.
- Q: I bought a TV and it requires 9 amps but it didn't include the cable. I have a 7 amp cable that fits, but I don't want to damage the TV. All the cables at stores around me don't fit well. Could I get away with just using this one for a couple days until the right one arrives in the mail? I can imagine that it wouldn't give me reliable power, but I don't really care about that, I just don't want to damage the power supply of the TV. Thanks in advance.
- if your unit call for a 9 amp power cord and you drop it to 7 amps that would be a great lose of amps wires might over heat and cause a fire i won't do it myself its up to you and your safety if you want to do it
