Q: Ceiling fan has Green, Blue, black and white and the ceiling only has a black wire and white wire.
That fan has separate power leads, either for light/fan, or two speeds. The simplest way is just tie black and blue from the fan to blk from the box, and white to white. The wall switch will control the whole thing, one speed or fan + Lt.s.
Q: I had gotten 5 commercial solar cells from siliconsolar. But, I need to know where could I get wires to connect to the solar cells, in order to harness the cells energy.
Wire is wire. Use wire heavy enough to handle the current and good enough insulation to handle the outdoors conditions.
Q: In the ceiling is one black, one white and a ground. How do I connect a new ceiling fan to these two wires? The ceiling fan has black wire, white wire, a blue wire and a green wire. We don't have green in the ceiling nor do we have a ground...knob and tube perhaps? So, can we connect this fan or not? Thanks!
Personally, I would not connect anything to old knob-n-tube wiring. I would replace all of it with modern wiring. And as for a ceiling fan, not only does it require a box designed for ceiling fan support (which I doubt you have right now), it also requires 3 wires, served by a 14/3 Romex with ground. It will have a black, white, red, and bare ground. The red wire is for the light, black for the fan, white neutral, and bare copper to green ground. On the wall, you will need a double-gang box containing 2 devices. One is a standard light switch controlling the light. The other is a fan controller unit ($12.49 at Home Depot) for the fan speed. It has 4 click-stops, High, Medium, Low, and Off. It uses a standard double-switch wallplate. On the fan itself, cut the chains off. Be sure the fan is set to HIGH, and the light ON when you cut them.
Q: I have this sony x plod headunit that i want to install.unfortunetely i do not know the wiring on it. i could find out as i go along which wires go to which speakers... but which two wires are the POWER wires?so i attached pictures but the basic layout is on the left side there are 4 sets of two wires (im assuming they pair up vertically)on the right side there is a long black wire with a metal hook on the end.
Please do not waste your time on that stereo. It has ridiculously poor sound reproduction. Sony makes some of THE WORST stereos on the market.
Q: Both wires are black. One has what looks like white paint on it.
Get a basic induction type tester tester. There is no theoretical live and neutral in knob and tube wiring. Wires were put where ever. Switches were put on either wire etc. The same type and color wire is used by both live and common. The only way to tell is to test.
Q: Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
Everything has a temperature at which it will melt. Every conductor also has a resistance, which is just like it sounds, a wire sort of resists the electricity passing through it by heating itself up. If a wire's resistance causes it to heat up so much that it melts, either the wire is too thin, or there is too much current passing through it, or both. A thicker wire can handle the same current without heating up so much that it melts. Sorry I don't have any formulas for you, but I think you should understand it now.
Q: A vertical straight wire carrying an upward 14.2 A current exerts an attractive force per unit length of 7.80E-4 N/m on a second parallel wire 7.60 cm away. What is the magnitude of the current that flows in the second wire?
For a current I1 = 14.2 Amperes and radial separation between wires r =0.076 m, the magnetic field at wire 2 is B =0.000037368 Tesla If current I2 = 21 Amperes then the force per meter is F/ΔL =0.000784 Newtons/m hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hba... Goodbye
Q: During a lab experiment, a straight piece of copper wire is connected across the terminals of an AC generator and the current through the wire was measured. If the wire is removed and a part of it is tightly wound into a loop of many coils and the wire is then reconnected to the generator, will the measured current through the wire be greater, lesser, or the same as it was before the wire was coiled? Explain your answer.
bypass to the factors save and get a Chilton's! That way you're becoming photos appropriate in front of you to adventure up your application. They value approximately $15! the remarkable $15 you will ever spend. appropriate now you will have all your wires back on and not dropping time top right here with idiots which will greater suitable valuable than probable supply you the incorrect answer as nicely!
Q: alright i have a 1994 ford ranger XLT, it has a 4cyl and is a stick shift. i need to know which wire goes where from my O2 sensor. i know there is a positive, negative, heater wire, and the wire that goes to the computer. if anyone could tell me what each wire is and what the color of each is?
well the o2 itself is located on ur exhaust, usually just b4 the cat. just look at ur exhaust for the sensor sticking out and the wire will be coming out the back of it and u can trace it from there.
Q: Say you have a 5 cm current wire carrying 10 A going from left to right. Directly 1 c.m below the left end of this wire is a long wire that is perpendicular to the first wire and goes out of the page. What is the net force on the 5 cm wire?I've tried using F=ILB with the I of the first wire and the B of the second wire.
I didn't read the question so I was carefully working out the force. The wire is perpendicular to the first wire, so using the right hand rule you discover that the field it creates is PARALLEL to the first wire at this left end. The magnetic force is caused by the component which is PERPENDICULAR to the wire which is in fact zero. So there is no magnetic force at this point. As you move along the wire you get a diminishing amount of magnetism caused by the wire which is going out of the page but that field has a component which is DOWN the page. Therefore that part of the wire experiences a force which is into the page. ( take your right hand, put the thumb along the wire pointing to the right, the fingers point down the page, the palm points into the page which is then the direction of the force) I would be surprised if you were required to work out the magnitude of the force in this context. You can't use F= ILB because both the magnitude and the direction of the field varies at different points along the wire. If the perpendicular wire had been directly below the middle of the other wire there would have been no net force. If you were of a level where working out the force was appropriate you would need to set up the formula for B at various points along the wire, taking the vertical component only and integrate this over the range from 0 to 5 cm. Not a trivial mathematical task.
