- Q: My carpets are heavyly stained, i have shampooed them using bleach, but the resalt i want is to bleach them as close to white, or clean i can get . Ihave to small children in the house to think about too! Any suggestions on how to clean the carpet myself, within a day would be great!
- I would be very leary of using bleach on carpet. First of all, most carpet has manmade fiber ( nylon or polypropelene, for example) which will melt if bleach hits it. Second, the padding underneath is generally a recycled material that wil disintegrate when the bleach hits it. Third, carpet fiber is held together with a stiff substance that looks a lot like burlap to which the carpet fiber is looped and glued. Bleach will cause the glue to release its adherence over time. Now if your carpet is Olefin, it can take bleach without any of these consequences occurring. But in the final anaylsis, you have small children and bleach is caustic. I would be afraid of having bleach sink down into the padding and having it walk back up to the surface where it could harm or worse yet, poision your children. If you are looking to both brighten the carpet and remove the stains there are many cleaners you can use in a rental steam machine that will do the job, but won't whiten the carpet. You can even use oxyclean diluted in the machine or straight to remove the stains as a pre-spotter. Capture, Resolve, Nature's Miracle and Tech all make heavy duty cleaners that can be loaded into a steam cleaner. Folex found at home depot can brighten and remove most stains with little effort, too.

- not really any big difference. Only that rugs or blankets with tail chords have one chord running behind the horse while rugs with leg straps go in between the horse's legs. Rugs with tail chords would be better for a horse who is stall kept who doesn't move around as much. The tail chord isn't the best for keeping a rug in place, especially when the horse is running around. Some owners don't like to use them because their horse developed a habit of using the chord to rub their tail Rugs with leg straps keep the rug in place and keep it straighter when the horse is moving around. Some horses with sensitive skin can get rubbings or chaffing because of the straps being too tight. They are better if your horse is pasture kept or rolls frequently.
- Q: Is there a way to effectively clean my carpet without buying any special equipment? I live in an apartment building and the carpet here is very dense. Is there a way to get rid of spots and things stuck to the floor? I wouldn't want to spend more than twenty dollars on this. Can anyone help?

- Hope this helps...Good Luck ! Carpets/Upholstery: 1) A great non-toxic carpet stain remover is club soda. Soak spot immediately with soda and blot until the stain is gone. 2) Pet Urine on Carpets: Dab area with toweling to absorb as much as possible, wash spot with liquid dish detergent, and rinse with 1/2 cup vinegar diluted in 1 qt warm water. Lay towels or paper towels over the spot and weight down to absorb excess moisture. Let stand 4 to 6 hours, then remove toweling, brush up nap and allow to dry completely. Use an electric fan to speed drying. 3) Red wine stains can be removed from carpet by rubbing baking soda in and vacuuming. 4) Sprinkle cornstarch onto carpet, vacuum. 5) To remove grease spots from carpets, first sop up the liquid with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of baking soda into the spot. Let it absorb overnight. Next day, remove the excess and vacuum the area. 6) To remove grease spots from carpets, first absorb excess with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of corn starch into the spot. Let sit overnight, then vacuum. 7) Dry cornstarch sprinkled on rug and vacuumed. 8) Carpet Fresher 4 cups baking soda or cornstarch 35 drops Eucalyptus essential oil 30 drops Lavender essential oil 25 drops Rosewood essential oil or any combination of your favorite essentail oils Measure 4 cups of baking soda into a bowl, add essential oils. Break up any clumps that form, stir until well mixed. Before vacuuming sprinkle powder from a shaker type can or jar. Let it sit on the carpet for about 15 minutes then vacuum. 9) Herbal Carpet Freshener 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup lavender flowers Crush the lavender flowers to release their scent. Mix well with baking soda and sprinkle liberally on carpets. Vacuum after 30 minutes. 10) Sprinkle baking soda on carpets before vacuuming for a natural rug deodorizer

- There are very few exceptions to exceed the standard range. Some high-grade carpets has a kind of animal hair smell of mutton, low-grade carpet is made of raw materials of styrene or other smell of raw materials, but you have to see it is high-grade carpet or low-grade carpet if the carpet releases little formaldehyde.

- An indoor/outdoor would work or how about an area rug with tile around the edges. I don't know how much water you get but an area rug wouldn't have the padding that takes so long to dry. Good luck!
