Q: Why do diesel locomotives sound like loud vacuum cleaners when they are running power. Does it have to do with gas combustion?
turbos
Q: Do they have a problem going from hardwood to carpeted floors. Do they pick up as well as a traditional vacuum? Of six answeres to my original question, three were positive, three negative. Please send me more details.
Robotic vacuums are great nowadays as technology becomes better and better. Yes they can go from room to room and clean on their own.
Q: Hi there,I know that a lot of bagless vacuums are sold as quot;Cyclonicquot;, but I remember hearing somewhere that only Dysons actually remove all the dirt from the air by cyclonic action, whilst the rest also rely on filters. Is it true that other companies can not (due to patents, etc.) make vacuum cleaners that work in exactly the same way as a dyson, or is it just an urban myth created by clever marketing on the part of dyson? If anyone (in the UK) has a vacuum they think is comparable to a dyson, I'd love to hear about it, cheers.
I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and I love it! It does a great job. I have kids, pets, and a husband who works construction, and it gets up all their dirt/dust/hair/etc... The suction is great and it has a switch to turn the beater bar off so you can use it on any hard floor surface. It's not bagless, but I had a bagless before, and I would never have another one again. It's very reasonably priced and I can't see how a Dyson could outclean it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Q: Oke this sounds kinda dumb but i was wondering..IF i had a space suit which would make me able to ''fly'' just a few cm above jupiter, and i wouldnt fall in it. if i had a vacuum cleaner with me, HOW fast would it need to go to suck up some air of jupiter?ik gravity is terribly strong but still.. with the right speed it can be escaped right ?
Vacuum cleaners don't suck up air. Vacuum cleaners move a stream of gas through a filter. What you want is a gas compressor of some kind. There are compressor designs for widely differing gas pressures, and there is one for the conditions you may find above Jupiter at your unspecified altitude.
Q: Why are cats afraid of vacuum cleaners?
I think it's the noise, yes, but it's also the fact that the noise is so sudden, from complete silence or whatever's going on in the room previously. If a cat is motionless and all of a sudden, something is pushed towards her and she has less of a comfort zone, that may also scare her. One of my previous cats used to puff up her tail, curl her tongue and hiss at the vacuum until it was about 6 inches away from her. Then she'd run and hide until the noise stopped and the monster was put back in the closet. If the monster stayed out in the open, she would attack it with her paw when it was shut off!
Q: A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.quot;Good morning, said the young man. quot;If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners.quot;quot;Go away!said the old lady. quot;I haven't got any moneyand she proceeded to close the door.
My okorder Good luck
Q: The pool pump is broken at the moment, can I substitute that with a sump pump?
If you want a pool vacuum. Big time! Buy a 5 horse gas rotary pump. Size intake down to pool hose size and hose clamp in place. Next buy some fertilizer hose for the return hose. And fittings for that. All plastic fittings. next 6inch PVC pipe the heavy pipe 1 foot or a little less. 2 cap ends with tread. and some sheet Metal screws. And cap heads threaded. Drill hole in 1 cap end with hole saw. Take 1, 3 inch threaded pipe. Heat on stove. Grasp with heavy touwls and rush to garage. Use hot pipe as a tap to melt into plastic pipe. Were you drilled the hole in the square center. So hole needs be slightly smaller than pipe. Use Metal screws to fix pipe ends to PVC pipe. Drill 3/4 to 1 inch holes in PVC pipe. You now have your filter housing. Next buy green furnace filter pad. Just like dish scrub pad. Cut to size, roll about 3 rolls, Leave hole in center, Put in filter casing. Attach to pump return. Hook up vacuum hose and vacuum. Put filter in pool. Prime pump, put vacuum in pool, Start motor. You now have a pool vacuum cleaner of vacuum cleaners. This will almost suck the bottom of the pool up. Return filtered water to pool. Mount in a wheelbarrow for ease of movement. Remove cap and wash filter if it starts getting clogged. Remember a some what dirty filter filters better. About $450 to $500 to build yourself. But what a pool vacuum it is! But yes a sump pump can be used. Use a submersible one. And be sure to set it on a pad. As the legs will wear a hole in the pool liner quick! And you are looking at half the cost of a gas powered one to build. And risking shock in water. So I advise against that. And 5 horse is much more than 1/2 or 3/4 horse for the buy. Or go radical. Build a 10 horse vacuum. For a little more. Filter pad should be cut about 1/4 inch longer than housing. This is what I use for my pool vacuum. Best your money can build here.
Q: is there a name for fear of vaccum cleaners? because I KNOW i have it! ever since i was an infant i would screem frickin bloody murder in my crib when my mom would run teh vacuum cleaner. when i was jsut a small child i would run from it, afraid it would suck up my toes. and now, today, at 14, i cannot STAND the loud noise they make and i do NOT put my toes in front of one. it takes me a few moments before i can even bring myself to turn it on. the bigger, louder they are, the worse my reactions. sometimes at work (i volunteer at a veterinary hospital) i have to ask one of my co-workers to do it because i will purposly busy myself just to get away from it.please, do not laugh at me. it's embarrassing enough and i just want to know the name of it.thankxx! :]
no name?
Q: I'm afraid of spiders, but not arachnophobic (if that's a word). Mainly since there are the brown-recluse spiders so I'm more paranoid it's them in my house.I tried to catch it, but I would probably get yelled at for catching spiders with a plastic bowl and I'm too freaked out to try and catch the speedy little thing. I ended up vacuuming it up with a small vacuum and not sure what to do next. I heard it can escape so I'm not sure if i should carry the vacuum up and see a spider pop out.I'm not a tech-expert, but the vacuum has a plastic container holding all the dust and even the spider. I heard it can live and no bug spray is around the house to kill it. What should I do? I don't want it running around bent on revenge (kidding there, but the presence of spiders still get me.) I need to clean the house too upstairs. Should I keep vacuuming and hope it goes away, empty it asap? (I'll have to reach up into the container though...)
Did you know the average person in their sleep swallows about 20 spiders in their lifetime. Empty canister into a paper bag and put in the garbage outside. Good Luck
Q: Skimmers are machines like vacuum cleaners that pull up the oil from the surface of the water. The water must be calm in order for skimmers to be effective.
Skimmers are similar to vacuum cleaners, but instead of sucking up dirt from hard surfaces, they suck up oil from the surface of water. The water needs to be calm in order for skimmers to be effective.
