Q: What type of plastic are car windows made out of? (10 PTS BEST ANSWER)?
They are made out of glass. The windshield has a thin piece of plastic in between 2 sheets of glass to prevent it from shattering in a collision. The windows are engineered to break into circular pieces in a collision so that no sharp edges are created. They are all glass though.
Q: Jeep Wrangler rear plastic windows?
you may have a little air getting inside they have to be fixed tight as a drum. check sealant.. we used them 2 winters ago when we had old windows...we did have a lot of draft, but had to seal as much as you can on the windows before fixing the plastic..once done you should not be using the hairdryer again..hope this has helped..
Q: I have seen it done both ways.
Inside. You don't want moisture to get in as well as the cold. Make sure their is no gaps. Best to do it on a windy day so you can feel for drafts easier.
Q: I need to mask some windows off using just painters plastic and 2quot; tape. My problem is where I'm supose to lay the tape is flush with the glass. Am I supose to cut the plastic to size, tape up the corners and then tape seams? Sorry, new to airless.
You got it Tape windows first, use a razor knife for corners. Now tape plastic to the tape on windows. Cut plastic smaller then window so you tape on tape.
Q: I would like to completely remove it off of the car without removing the whole top? (The zipper broke)
Look up an auto convertible top repair shop--they can fix it
Q: I figure that the little windows are plastic, not paper, and shouldn't be included with the paper products in the bins at the recycling centers. Am I right or wrong? It takes a lot of extra time to sort through all the junk mail in order to discard these envelopes.
You are so right, the plastic window harms the sorting machine, it has to be done by hand, so well done, keep it up.
Q: ...even when washing it? And I live in San Diego, not like in TX where the cling probably would bake into the window. But the windows are tinted, so it would have to be on the outside. The cling is about 6quot; in diameter.
I would think it may stick, but it would probably fall off due to the bumpiness of driving, plus when you wash it, it will make it fall off. If your windows are tinted, I wouldn't even mess with it because it may cause a discoloration, but I am not positive. I hope this helps you some! Btw, I love window clings too! :)
Q: I am talking about the stuff you tape to the inside of your home windows and use a hair dryer to stretch it tight. It is supposed to keep single pane windows better at keeping in the heat. I live where it gets 30 degrees at night and 40-50 during the day in winter. Does anyone have experience with these products? Which type works best? Mainly, does it really keep heat in? OR does it keep sunlight heat out and balance out to zero help?
Yes it works well and is easy to install.I warn you now though to not leave it there during the summer, but if you do you must vent it at the top by pulling the plastic back an inch or two to let the heat out or it will totally destroy your air tight seal. And most likely the heat will do it anyway even if you do vent it.
Q: It is a clean tear- about 2 inches. I was wondering if there is anything I can use to glue it back together, or if a mechanic/garage would be able to fix it?
THIS IS ASSUMING YOU MEAN THE HALF TOP PLASTIC WINDOWS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS, BUT IT ALSO WORKS ON THE REARS TOO. GO TO A POOL SUPPLY STORE (YES POOL SUPPLY) AND GET A LINER PATCH. THEY COME IN CLEAR MATERIAL, AND THE BEST THING IS, IT'S WATERPROOF!! (USED ON POOLS) NAD IF YOU ARE VERY CAREFUL WHEN APPLYING THE SEALANT, IT LOOKS LIKE A FUZZY SPOT ON THE WINDOW.
Q: will any type of plastic work for insulating windows?
I would suggest the type that are like storm windows. They are double layers and create dead air spaces that stop the heat flow -- not much of an R value, but better than thin plastic sheeting. R= 1 (for the really cold days, the best insulation for windows is to cut a 1 inch thick foil faced styrofoam sheet - cut it to size so that it pressure fits inside your window framing. = R = 6.5
