- Q: I just had my 30 yr old storm windows replaced with nice double pain, double glazed, argon filled windows in November. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! But now that i am used to comfort level and energy savings that these windows have made to my home. I find myself looking for the tiny amounts of cool air that penetrates into my home. And I still have this habit of wanting to put plastic over my windows. Do you think adding the plastic now would be overkill? Or would the energy savings still out way the cost of the plastic this first week on January?

- No, not in modern recycling plants. The fibers are reduced to a slurry in the pulping process, freeing the plastic which remains intact. The slurry passes through small perforations in a screen (Typical perforation size is about .050) while the plastic is retained on the screen and is flushed away. The adhesive binding the plastic to the paper, typically EVAc, is water dispersible.
- Q: And then you use a hair dryer on it and it shrinks the plastic?Does that work for all plastic? Will all plastic shrink? Or are the ones in the store a 'special' type of plastic?

- I can find that sell the window regulator clips individually. They have them for Audi, Volkswagon, BMW and other makes as well. If you are going to fix it yourself, they also have a tutorials section, including video guides.
- Q: There is a tear in my drivers side window at the bottom where the plastic is covered by the fabric, but the fabric is coming lose and the tear is starting to show and open itself to elements. Also, this window zipper only closes and opens one way, going the other way the teeth will not connect, any ideas? Also, there is a larger 4-5 inch tear in my rear plastic window right under where the zipper releases the plastic from the fabric. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
- There are some kits available for making repairs for clear plastic, you probably will not find them at an auto supply, but, at a place where supplies are sold for any inflatable items, air mattress,floats,etc. These clear repair kits come with an adheres and once in place it is there to stay. On the large tare on your back rear windshield, you may want to place a repair sheet on both sides. Also you may consider sewing it with clear fishing line. As far as you zipper is concern, you can replace the zipper pull, this may or may not solve your problem. Hope that some of the above is of some help!
- Q: I have a Renault Clio authentique 1.2L and it has electric windows....there is a plastic clip attached to the back of the glass that i presume keeps the glass coming up and down at the right angle but it comes up really slowly and some times not at all....i think it has something to do either with the plastic clip or it needs more lubrication.....any help is appreciated. - im my bmw 740il my rear left window does the same i replaced the moter for the winmdow for cheap and it works fine now i hope its nuthing big but if u do not know what else to do go to auto zone of napa and ask one of the workers they will help out
- Q: I don't mind if its designed for another brand but I am getting very frustrated because I can't find it on GE's site or any other. I bought the unit without it in hopes I could find one online but can't find the specific one. HELP! The piece is the one that sits in the window to hold the hose in the window. The unit is a Portable AC which means it sits on the floor not in the window so its got specially designed plastic plate piece that is adjustable for your window size.
- Measure the window opening and go to a glass place with the hose and have them make you a lexan piece to fit the window with a hole in it. Lexan is very sturdy. You can run a rod straight thru the outside part of hose to keep it in place or tape it. It isn't like some technically expensive part to make. Actually it will probably be better than original. BTW, keep the hose as short as you can as it gets warm and heats the room as the compressor cools it. I had one and the closest I could get was 5 feet and it didn't help at all.
- Q: How to remove melted plastic from house window?
- What they said PLUS first heat the plastic a bit using your everyday hair dryer. Don't put the blow dryer to close to the glass especially if it is cold outside. The glass might crack with heat on one side and cold on the other. Next, Do what they said and scrape with a razor blade.

- Plastic is more porous so glass is a better weatherproof material.
- Q: recently the plastic window in the back of my 91 mazda miata convertable top tore and iv been looking for where i can buy just the plastic window but i cant find it i can only find buying a brand new top all together but i know the top is made to be able to replace only the plastic so if you know where i can find these please help
- There are several types of tops used, and there is no way to guarantee of what replacement window will fit unless you know for sure who made it! Some times the makers name is on the top, however to find out you have to take the top a part. Next thing you need to know is that the labor is just as much for a window replacement as it is for a new top. Another thing to think about is that many times a complete top is less then 100 dollars more then just the replacement window. That is why I just replace the complete top my self, and use what I would have paid someone else to do the job to buy new cables and a rain rail. The first link is to directions on how one person did the job, I have read three different methods. However because of how the top was put on by the last person to do the job none of the worked exactly as published. The second link is to a site that has replacement windows, there are others out there. Note the one there is for the Robins Top, if it is factory or any other makers top, it will not fit. Replacement tops start at about 150 dollars and go on up. I have bought mine from Dave on OKorder. He used to carry a three window model and that was what I bought. I like his service and price.
