Q: I have yucky shades on my windows dead bugs all around my windows. They are old windows so I bought an insulation kit to do the windows. It says I will need to blow dry.What if I don't want to touch the disgusting shades my landlord said be would replace when I moved in ? I am kind of stuck living here so until I can find a place a roommate, I want to seal the windows. shades completely. They have poor insulation a handful bugs come in every hour.Do you think the plastic will work without shrinking it with a blowdryer? There are slice webs around my window so I am disgusted.: Actually you can go with this approach, but you must ask an expert before applying anything. Your windows will look great, and they will be highly protective after applying plastic on them. But be careful and do it properly.

Q: Ok, I just moved in to my own apartment this past Spring, and it's an older duplex (with a lot of friggin windows-31 to be specific). So trying to keep the heat in this winter is a huge issue. I've heard of covering the windows with plastic to help, but I'm also looking at thermal shades (window quilts, etc.). My question would be which of these would keep more heat in? Or should I do both? (I would make my own if doing the quilts...so if anybody has any links to a really easy way to make them that would be very much appreciated as well! ) Money is tight, so I'm trying to avoid the problem to begin with..: Where the window body mets the siding, must be caulked round. The home windows being new, must be sealed inside themselves. Therefore,. the one expertise hole might be wherein the brand new window body meets the residence at the external.

Sorry, new to airless.: You got it Tape windows first, use a razor knife for corners.Now tape plastic to the tape on windows. Cut plastic smaller then window so you tape on tape.

Q: I figure that the little windows are plastic, not paper, and shouldn't be included with the paper products in the bins at the recycling centers. Am I right or wrong? It takes a lot of extra time to sort through all the junk mail in order to discard these envelopes.: In my city, Los Angeles, it's okay to put the envelopes with the clear windows in with the recyclable paper. My city is even okay with staples! Check your city's website.

Q: i bought two white window blinds and then when i got home, i realized the color doesn't go with the color of my wall. black blinds would suit my wall better. so what kind of paint should i buy to color over the plastic surface of the blinds? thank you!: If they're mini-blinds, don't bother trying to paint them. Yes, you can change the colour, by using spray paint that's made for plastics, but by the time you get enough paint on them to do that, you have enough that the blinds won't go up and down very well if at all and it will be hard to change the direction of the vanes. Unless you just want to put them on the window and never open them, paint isn't very successful on blinds.

Q: I have a 4quot; tear in the plastic drivers side window. Are there any adhesives or techniques to fix it?: boat or auto supply stores sell a clear repair tape for plastic windows that doesn't yellow or peel like tape does

Q: will any type of plastic work for insulating windows?: Yes, as long as you can seal the edges well enough so no air can get through to the space between the window and the plastic. That air space is what does the insulating, so if air can pass through it there's not a lot of point in using the plastic, unless you have old windows that are extremely drafty. In that case, anything that slows down the escape of heat will help to some degree.
