- Q: We have a 2008 grizzly 700...Lately when we run the 4-wheeler there is a ticking like noise (as is something were loose). I have been told by a few people that it sounds like the valves need adjusting. Does that sound like what it is? Will it cause any damage to the 4-wheeler if we ride it before we get a chance to adjust the valves?
- They are correct. Well almost. The Rockers are what can be adjusted. They are too far away from the valve and are starting to hammer on them instead of just moving them. You will not cause immediate damage by riding it but you could wear out the rocker completely and drop a valve into the engine which would be very costly. Best to get it repaired soon. Make sure they install new rockers and springs. The main cause for this is poor oil maintenance or poor grade of oil being used. Always use a GOOD synthetic oil and your motor will last 10 times as long
- Q: The water in my tub/shower stopped working. I did my research on the net to discover the cause and I also went to Home Depot explained the problem. The worker at home depot helped me get the right part I needed to replace the valve stem. I came home, took the faucet handle off and can see what I need to do next. Everything seems perfect and ready to go, except I can't remove the old valve stem. It seems like the old one should just slide out and the new one replaces it. How do I get the old one out without damaging any of the pipes or hurting myself.
- Do you have a valve for the hot and one for the cold, or does one valve control both? If there are two valves they should just unscrew. You might need to go back to Home Depot and get a wrench designed for valve stem removal. (Before you go, spray it with penetrating oil such as WD-40 and let it do it's thing while you're gone. If it's just one valve for both, there's probably a collar that screws on and holds the cartridge in place. After that is off, the cartridge should slide out-ususally with a little 'persuasion' from some pliers. (But don't try to twist it) Hope you get it.
- Q: Okay so my boyfriend's father is getting a heart valve replacement....he's so nervous he cried last night when he heard it will be in 2 weeks....and he's usually one of those tough guys has anyone or know anyone who has had this type of surgery. They are leaning towards a animal (cow or pig) valve...because with mechanical you have to take blood thinners for the rest of your life...anyways if anyone knows information on this or knows the pro's and cons of the two diff. types of valves please give me info. Thanks
- I'm pretty sure you've got to take a blood thinner with ANY heart valve replacement. The difference is the dosage, really. At any rate, supposedly mechanical don't wear out as easily, and doesn't get rejected as much as with the bovine or porcine valves. I would recommend he calm down a little bit, though. His worrying is only putting more stress on his heart, and if the hospital doesn't consider it enough of an emergency to schedule him immediately, I wouldn't worry so much. There have been amazing advances in cardiac surgeries, and the risks are getting smaller and smaller. Either your boyfriend or his dad's significant other should make absolute sure that he meets his surgeon, and is confident in the surgeon's abilities. If he's not confident, find another one. Good luck with it, and take care.
- Q: Im looking for a new BBb tuba. i would like six valves at 4+2. but if not looking for 6 valve BBb tuba
- Better get busy with that search engine, then!
- Q: When my son was three I switched Dr's for him. The new doctor said has he always had a heart murmur I said no that's the first I've heard of it so we went for test. Anyway heart specialist did all tests said my son had Bav a valve disorder in the heart. He said it is very common. However everyone I've ever talked to has never heard of it. My question is does anyone have this what is your story and have you had to have your valve replaced. My son is very healthy active I'm just worried. Any help would be greatly appreciated....thank you!!
- A bicuspid aortic valve is not necessarily a problem - a normal aortic valve has three cusps, and your son only has two. Having only two cusps is not a big deal. The mitral valve in the heart naturally has only two cusps, so three cusps are not needed for a heart valve to function. The advantage of three valves is a slight increase in efficiency, but the difference between a normal valve and properly working bicuspid valve would only matter to a professional athlete. If the aortic valve closes almost completely, there is nothing to worry about. Since he has a heart murmur, its possible that it is caused by having only two cusps, but people with three cusps commonly have murmurs. There is no reason to get the valve replaced simply because of only two cusps. What matters is the level of aortic valve regurgitation. If regurgitation is not significant, your son has a normally functioning heart. Even if he had a moderate or high amount of regurgitation, it still might not have enough effect to warrant surgery. There are tests to measure regurgitation.
- Q: so here are the details. i've been using my trumpet for about 6-8 years now and 1 if not 2 valves get stuck on my trumpet. the problem is not the oil as i have over oiled them too and no go. its that when i try to put my valves back in their place and twist them they don't stay in place, move ,and making either my valves stuck or making my trumpet not do a sound. what should i do? repair shop or buy a new one? i hear the clicking sound when i put them back but still all that does is either make my valve more sticky
- Trumpet valves have metal or plastic tabs that fit into grooves on the casing. They keep the valve in allignment. It sounds like the tabs on your horn could be broken. I suggest letting a repair shop do the work.
- Q: im having trouble locating the pcv valve on my 1979 oldsmobile. i have a 305 engine. i need to replace it asap, so any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance to all feedback.
- On one of the valve covers. It will have a larger dia. (about 3/8) hose hooked to the end up of and going to the carb. It will be pushed into a rubber plug thing on the valve cover. Just remove hose, and grab valve and pull up on it.
- Q: yes i just started clarinet. all my spit just comes right through and falls on my feet and the ground. i was just wondering if the clarinet had a spit valve or somthing.-thanks
- Nope. There isn't a need for a spit valve since any condensation which forms can just fall out onto your feet. Spit valves are only needed in instruments where moisture builds up. However, you may find that sometimes moisture will get trapped in some of the keys, causing certain notes to have trouble sounding. Every now and then if this happens you can open the key and blow across the hole to blow away any moisture which has formed.
- Q: this valve used in the refinery.
- This is a 'Trip and Throttle' (T T) valve that is maintained in a 'Fully Open' postion during normal turbine operation. It is maintained open by a Hydraulic Control system that, should any of many shutdown conditions occur, the hydraulic oil will be dumped to its reservoir by the operation of a Solenoid valve, actuated by the shutdown signal, and the T T valve will immediately close, stopping the steam flow to the turbine speed control steam chest in a safe manner. The valve handwheel is then operated to ensure that the valve remains fully closed until the system is ready for re-start. The valve cannot be opened again until the shutdown condition has been rectified and the hydraulic system reset to restore the oil pressure to the valve. The valve however, can then only be re-opened manually and slowly until the turbine is brought to the 'Minimum Speed Control' Governor setting. When settled down at this condition and the steam chest valves are under the control of the Governor, the T T valve is swung wide open. This latches the valve in the fully open position until another shut down occurs,
- Q: How do you take out a valve stem?
- no, the cap for the valve stem is designed to keep dirt out not hold air in ! there is a special tool that removes the valve stem, and some manufacturers have cleverly placed it on the top of the stem cap(so you would remove the cap ,turn it upside down and the metal tool will fit into the valve and unscrew the stem.), otherwise you can get one at the tire dealer or SEARS ,It's about the size of a pencil
