- Q: I was wondering about purchasing a sofa bed to clear up space in my room. I dont want to sacrifice my comfort either. So, I came across the Ikea Manstad Sofa bed. it looks sturdy and different from other sofa beds. Those older sofa beds have those metal bars sticking in your back throughout the night making sleep uncomfortable. The Ikea Manstad doesnt have those metal bars but, im not sure if its very comfortable to sleep on. Is it suitable for everyday sleeping or should I stick with my old fashioned firm mattress?
- It does look comfortable, but I can't figure out how it converts into a double bed. If you have to slide one side up against the other, I am not sure if this is something you'd want to do each day, then put it back into a sofa. I can't imagine any sofa bed would hold up and be comfortable for everyday use. I think they are more suited for occasional use. Another option you may want to consider is a day bed. A day bed takes a regular twin mattress, and if you wanted comfort, you could use a high-quality one that would be nice for sleeping. I have a day bed in my guest room. It's a trundle, with a second twin that pulls out and pops up. You can either make it a separate bed, or butt it up against the other to make a large bed. The mattresses that came with it are cheap. I've slept on them, and they're not too bad. Certainly more comfortable, I think, than a sleeper sofa. Just something to think about.

- You did say it was a guest BEDROOM, did you not? If you want your guests to be comfortable, I'd go with a real bed. So much more comfortable than a sofa bed or futon!

- Moisuriser,the type you place on your face,and cotton wool,works,have had to do it myself with blue gloss on a black leather-based settee.Rub it in nicely with cotton wool you will see it start to melt and improve,might take some tries even yet it does pop out,then wash settee with soapy water and varnish with pledge and a comfortable fabric.

- Q: My room is tiny. ANd I need a double bed. So I got one about 2 years ago and there is no space what so Im looking to buy a sofa bed (which i will be using as an actual bed rather than a guest bed) to replace my double bed. So I can have my mates over ect and were not all squashed in a tiny corner. I already have a memory foam mattress on my bed but its quite think so should be able to fold up with a sofa bed. Any suggestions on a comfy sofa bed or futon?? Preferable one that would be the size of a double when pulled out. Thanks :)
- Sofa beds, unless you get the super good mattress are uncomfortable and require pulling pillows and remaking daily. Most do not fold with bedding let alone a memory topper. Your comfort options are: To use your existing mattress and make a murphy bed and add a sofa. Get a click clack bed (not a futon) you will have to make up each night. Make a loft if your ceiling is high enough. Lofts can be any height tall enough to slip the dresser or a desk under or a sofa. You can make a loft from bookcases and plywood.

- Keep your eyes open while hitting second hand stores and garage sales. I wouldn't worry too much about the fabric or pattern, just the size and style of the loveseat. (probably a better 'fit' than a sofa) Then you can always purchase or make a slip cover in white canvas or heavy cotton duck. White slipcovers are really a cool idea....they give a softer, cool summer look AND if they get dirty or dusty...you just pull them off and toss in a hot wash with a bit of bleach and they look brand new. Slip covers also let you have a couple different colors and patterns for easy change in decorating.

- Q: Does microfiber start to turn rough and pill? I've had a microfiber sofa for about a month and its starting to feel grainy and pill like a sweater would, I can't imagine what it will look and feel like 6 months from now. I spoke to the store and they say they can change the fabric but will not guarantee it won't just happen again. Is this normal or did the store sell me something that is not really microfiber. The label says the covering is 100% polyester, is that what all microfiber sofas say? The showroom sofa was nice and soft not like mine at all. I was sold a microfiber sofa and I have a feeling its really not. Can someone please let me know if its is normal for this to happen before I goes nuts on the store, like I said I've only had then sofa for a month. Thanks.
- Microfiber is just a fancy word for polyester - a recent way to erase the image of the polyester suit from the 70s. The only thing that matters is the fact that you are not satisfied with the quality of the fabric so let the store bend over backwards to please you. I have microfiber sheets that are not supposed to pill - but they do, mainly by the foot area.
