Q: im assuming red to red and black to black? but then what about the extra green and white wires in the iphone cable? where do they go?: Never assume anything. Wire colours in such cables are not necessarily assigned according to a standard pattern. Before you proceed, find printed documentation -- or its online equivalent -- that clearly and definitively shows the functions of the wires by colour. If all of the wires are for audio (which is possible, but not certain), don't connect any sort of power source to any of them. If it is a USB cable, the red and black are power wires, and the green and white are for digital data. A question was posted about USB wire colours on Y!A about 3 years ago (USB wire color code, please help?). The best answer contains enough info to help you.

Q: why do screen filters have wires with them?: The wire should connect to the monitor framing. Just find a screw and connect the wire to there. Google for Faraday shield - your wire drains the current from RF energy radiating from the monitor but absorbed by your screen - a concept that doesn't apply to LCD monitors, which don't radiate RF - just to the CRT models. Most CRT monitors have such a shield built-in, so you've wasted your money - IMHO - unless it also provides antiglare. Good luck.

Q: function of a fire-wire for backing up data: Its just a wire type, the A wire can Xfer at about 400mbps, and the B wire around 800, also USB 2.0 is around 480mbps, its just the wire type has nothing to do with the product that has the cable. Like an external hard drive can have a usb 2.0 wire a Esata, Sata, firewire, its all about the speed of the wire, nothing to do with helping backup files except for the time it takes to back them up.

Q: i already tried wiring this light, but it didn't work. I always thought black wire to black, white to white and ground to ground. i connected the light fixture black wire to the three black wires (as shown in image) and the light fixture white wire to the three white wires, and connected ground wires together.when i flipped on the breaker, the light came on with the switch on off and the breaker tripped. i'm assuming this is wrong and i provided an image as i see in my ceiling mount. Any chance you have one of the black wires touching the side of the box or one of the white or ground wires? If the fixture that was removed worked before the new one should work now. Also check that one of the screws holding the fixture didn't touch one of the black wires when you tightened it. .

But your division into crafts/electric is not too useful, as either type of wire can be used for the other. You can use electric wire for crafts and vv. You can also get copper wire for construction use. .

Q: hi i was wondering if its possible to electrify chicken wire? i have chickens in some fields and they keep wondering and chicken wire is alot cheaper than buying proper electric fencing??: You can electrify it but you have to make sure it is insulated at every point that it touches a fence post or the ground. If it is not insulated at all points it will short out to the ground and will not be very effective. That is the reason you should use regular electric fence supplies. Some of the electric fence wire that i have seen is almost like a rope with metal fibers in it to conduct the electricity. I cant imagine that it would cost as much as chicken wire.
