Q:how to wire a receptacle with 6 wires?
I say that JimW has given you the best answer ..... sounds to me that the box that those wires are in is a connector or in-line jumper box ---- where is your multi-meter or 2-wire/glow tester to find whatz hot .... the certified electrician is going to do what JimW says ... further tests will prove it .......
Q:6000+ heat sinc wires?i up graded my cpu and the new heat sinc has a 4 wire conector and my old 3800+ heat sinc has 3 and mobo has 3 pin processor works great. sys recognizes amd 6000+ dual core processor @ 3.0 ghz but not the model #???? sys works great scored 10143 on 3DMARK 06 anyway the fan and temp s are all good any ideas what the other wire is
Yes, the fan on your heat sink has a fourth wire that..............(tune back in tommorrow folks, for the conclusion), (sorry, somebody's telling jokes over here!) The fourth wire is a Speed control wire. The first wire,(Red), is 12VDC,(power), the second,(Black), is the ground, should be a Blue wire, for rpm sensor, and the fourth,(color codes vary), is the wire that the BIOS uses to speed the fan up when the temp of the cpu raises, slows the fan down, when it isn't used as hard. Temp of the cpu, is found through one of it's pins on the bottom of it.
Q:The wire from the pinball machine only has two wires. How do I rewire the machine with a grounded wire and plug?
Used to love to play pinball in this one bar that would give you a beer if you got so many points. I got good at pinball. (That was back in my drinky too much days.) Funny thing is, I can't play worth a damn now that I'm sober. I went to this great arcade with my nephews a year and a half ago - big ol' thing on the Oregon coast - and am looking forward to doing it again this summer. I love arcades, but we don't have one where I live now.
Q:I have just learned how to make some pretty cool bracelets out of telephone wire and i would like to know where to find more telephone wire. Could someone tell me where i might be able to find some?
I dumpster dive, have all kinds of colors, length and thickness.
Q:i need to know what wire goes where
A little background here. Your dryer is a 220 volt appliance and until recently they had only 3 wires to it, to match the receptacle. Now they seperated the neutral (white) and the ground (green or bare copper) but the two still attach to the same busbar at your electrical power panel. So heres the color schematic you need. Your dryer hot wires are yellow and blue and attach to the red and black wires which are 110 volt hot wires from the panel (together they add up to 220) , the white wires go together as these are your neutral wires which return power to the panel thus completing your circuit, the green or bare copper wire can be attached to the white wires or attached to the metal electrical box if you have one as the equipment box. Your receptacle box may be plastic which then you have no choice but to attach it to the white wires. If you have a electrical meter, it would show 110 volts across either the red/yellow or blue/black wires to either the white or green wires, with 220 volts measuring across the red/yellow and blue/black connections. There is no appliance that runs on 220 volts but rather 2 110 volt circuits, which in a dryer one 110 v circuit runs the timer and lights while the other runs the heating element itself. Be sure to turn off the breaker before attempting and make sure your connections are good and tight or youll have problems. Good luck
Q:I made a kill switch for my car. All I need to do now is cut the wire that goes into my engine control module and join it with the switch I made. Would it be fine if I just use wire nuts or some sort of tape to join the wires instead of soldering? The instructions say quot;Step 6: Attach the killswitch wires one to each side of the wire you just cut. Step 7: Tape up all new connection.quot; It says to tape the new connections, but should I use exactly?
Twisted wires can separate with the daily rattle and bumps of a car. I would crimp or solder it along with a shrink tube to secure it.
Q:i got this switch with numbers 1 , 2, 3, and 4 on it and 4 wires red, green, and two black. Which wires go to which number?
Well it is defintely a 3 way switch. The fourth (green) wire being the ground. I can't tell you by the numbers, but I can tell you by the screws which wire goes where. If it does not apply to your switch you may need to go get a new one. They are inexpensive. The green, ground wire goes to the screw that is usually attached to the arms ( metal extentions that hold against the sheet rock. Now you need to find the red and black wire that are together. Look inside the box where the wires come in and you should be able to tell if the red and black are in the same sheathing. These are your travelers. The travelers need to go on the two screws that are across from eachother. One goes on the right side and one goes on the left. Does not matter which side. The last black wire, depending on which of the two 3 ways you are at is either your power or your light leg (wire going to your light). This wire goes on the last screw. Hope this was helpful.
Q:im assuming red to red and black to black? but then what about the extra green and white wires in the iphone cable? where do they go?
Never assume anything. Wire colours in such cables are not necessarily assigned according to a standard pattern. Before you proceed, find printed documentation -- or its online equivalent -- that clearly and definitively shows the functions of the wires by colour. If all of the wires are for audio (which is possible, but not certain), don't connect any sort of power source to any of them. If it is a USB cable, the red and black are power wires, and the green and white are for digital data. A question was posted about USB wire colours on Y!A about 3 years ago (USB wire color code, please help?). The best answer contains enough info to help you.
Q:i already tried wiring this light, but it didn't work. I always thought black wire to black, white to white and ground to ground. i connected the light fixture black wire to the three black wires (as shown in image) and the light fixture white wire to the three white wires, and connected ground wires together.when i flipped on the breaker, the light came on with the switch on off and the breaker tripped. i'm assuming this is wrong and i provided an image as i see in my ceiling mount. Can somebody kindly direct me how to properly connect the light fixture to these wires. thanks!
This should have worked. Any chance you have one of the black wires touching the side of the box or one of the white or ground wires? If the fixture that was removed worked before the new one should work now. Also check that one of the screws holding the fixture didn't touch one of the black wires when you tightened it. .
Q:What happens when you hook these 2 wires up right along each other?
if you have an rca tv which works with 12 volts.......if the wires not connected to battery...there no problem. if connected to battery....the fuse blows.(close to battery on wire)....if there is no fuse....wires burn...risk of fire....do not forget...every device works with car battery MUST and MUST be eouipped fuse .
