Q: Im replacing the factory rear speakers in my car but cant figure on which wires are positive and which are negative. I went on a site for impalas but the color wires they have listed are not the same color wires in my car your help will be appreciated.
your positive is always going to be the lighter color or the one with the stripe running down it
Q: Friend’s dog chewed my fuel pump wires on my 90 Chevy caprice classic I need to know what colors match up correctly. I have coming from the pump: Purple, Gray or (Tan color) black, only other wires in site coming from tail light harness are Pink, Gray, black/ white stripe. I have tested these wires and found out that the (black/white wire was ground, Pink was hot, Orange was hot not didn't light up as bright as the pink with the test light) Found nothing in Mitchell’s book to help also called dealers I printed out a wiring diagram but not much help..
examine the connector the place the wires plug into the gasoline pump. that is unfastened and shorting out. Unplug it and seek for burns, or the entire factor could be melted which could be extra glaring. regrettably, this could require having get right of entry to to the precise of the tank.
Q: what does a #12 copper wire look like and waht does a #14 wire look like if you got pictures post a link thanks
actually a few years ago they color coded the casings of the wiring so that the 12 gauge is yellow and the 14 gauge is white. The difference is the size of the wire. Bigger the number the smaller the wire and the less of a load in should carry
Q: just need a little help to make right.just wiring an outlet from building to breaker box outside.. which way is the right way to wire it to a breaker then the box. Got the right breaker. Thanks
There are too many rules for safe wiring that you don't even have an inkling about. Connecting to the panel is the simplest part and you ask about that? Hire it done.
Q: I am replacing a 2 wire circuit for a fan/light combo with a 3 wire fan/light combo switch. I ran a new 12/2 w/grnd to the switch box. I ran a 12/3 w/grnd to the ceiling box for the fan. I have a ceiling fan and light control switch that control light and fan separately. I can't figure out which wires go to what.
Normally, they are tagged as to which is the light, or the operators manual will say (e.g., solid black for fan, black with white stripe for lamp). If not, you'll have to either test with a meter (check for continuity with one wire and the center of the light fixture) or make a guess and switch if it doesn't line up the way you want the switches to operate.
Q: I am trying to test a engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT), and in one of the tests it states quot;connect the terminals of the electrical connector with a jumper wirequot;. Where can I find a jumper wire? Does it has to be an specific gauge or any jumper wire? please helpd
mokeyboy is correct about a jumper wire, now comes the ck of the sensor if its a single wire sensor some times called a thermal transmitter, grounding that wire will cause the temp gauge to read high, now if its two wire sensor for fuel injection that should not be grounded, but the sensor must be ck'd with a ohms meter
Q: I am replacing old 3 button (vertically aligned) light switch. There is 1 thick wire wrapped in white, 1 thick wire wrapped in black and 4 thin wires wrapped in black. I attached the white wire to the common wire screw and put the remaining wires around the screws. I am also replacing a toggle switch that will control the vanity lights above the sink. There are 4 clumps of wire coming through the box. The copper grounds are all twisted together, and there are multiple strands of white covered wire twisted together and then the 5 black cover wires and 1 white covered wires. After hooking it all up, it doesn't do anything. No lights, fan or heat lamp. What did I do wrong?
Common Wire Light Switch
Q: If I have wired my 20 amp kitchen receptacles with 12/2 wire which only has a red, black, and ground wire, do I use the red wire for a neutral and the black as a hot?
that is notably unusual. commonly, the twine used is #12/2 NM-B for abode wiring. yet whilst it is already put in, that is likely to be to no longer basic to alter it now. yet in no way concern the NEC is here! The national electric Code demands the impartial to be white. you are able to purely re-% out the purple conductor with a decrease priced roll of white electric tape. The Code demands the comprehensive conductor on the container to be re-pointed out. Or a sequence of three (3) stripes on the conductor. So use the black on your 'warm', and re-% out the purple with white tape on your impartial.
Q: i need magnetic wire to make a coil and build aradio
You can often get varnished wire at an outlet such as radio shack. I have also used the yokes of old TV sets that I usually got for free at a local repair shop. I had to carefully unwind the coils. The wire in an automobile ignition coil is another potentially free source. You can purchase electrical insulating varnish as well. Krylon makes an aerosol variety and most others come in a regular can, but you would have to be creative in dipping the wire and suspending it to dry without damaging the coating.
Q: subs - dvc 4ohm 2 of them 600wattrms on each wiring it to a 1200 watt amp same brand as sub amp is 1 ohm stable to i wire the subs together and then to the amp a 1ohm? that would give each sub 600 watts right?
no wat i would do is wire 1 speaker to 1 port and wire the other speaker to the other pot thats if it is a 2 chanel amp... cause if not u will be pulling to much from 1 side and the speakers wont sound right..... u need to turn down the amp to at first and then bring up the bass gradually to make sure the speakers can handle it..... u also have the choice to bride the amp but thats it the spakers can handle the power... all u have to do is hook up positive then negative to 1 speaker the hook up positive then negative to a diffrent speaker but it has to be from a diff channel...... but if ur going to bridge the speakers then u go positive from 1 port to the negative to the negative of the other port this will give u alot more power to ur speakers.... thats why i recomend u hooking them up regular at first........... u also have to make sure ur gornd is like a foot long or less.... the shorter the ground the more the bass
