Q: I removed my range hood (switched off the electricity for it first) and there are three wires coming out of the wall. There's a white insulated, black insulated, and totally not insulated copper wire. What is the non-insulated copper wire? When I flip the electricity on, will it have a charge? It was weirdly wrapped around a screw in the box with the wiring...I'm not sure if it was doing anything. Thanks!
The copper wire is for ground. If there's a short, it is supposed to send the electricity into metal that leads into the soil. When you flip the switch, no charge should be in the copper wire... unless there is a short. Screw the weirdly-wrapped screw into something metal. If you have a metal utility box, screw it onto that, and you're range will be safe if there is a short.
Q: 2 long striaght wires (20m each) ,each having a 1.0A current going up.The distance between the two wires is 1.0m(a) what is the magnetic field (magnitude and direction) at a point o.50m left of the wire 1?(b)what is the magnetic field (magnitude and direction) at a point 0.6m right of Wire 1?
Assuming Wire 2 is to the right of Wire 1: a) Bwire1 = (u*I)/(2*pi*r) = ((4*pi*10^-7)*1A)/(2*pi*0.5) = 0.000004 Bwire2 = 0.000000424 Btotal = 0.000004424 (away from wire 1) b) Bwire1 = 0.000003333 Bwire2 = 0.000005 Btotal = -0.0000017 (toward Wire 1)
Q: wiring kit, subwoofers
by wiring kit do you mean the amps power kit? some of which will include speaker wire for the subs anyway usually your amp will come with instructions that tell you what the minimum gauge is the amp will accept for power, this is the gauge power and ground cable you will want to get maximum power to the amp and to prevent overheating issues, typically amps under 400 watts rms power will do fine with 8 gauge, amps 400-1000 rms will use 4 gauge and 1000+ will use 2/0 gauge wire, for the subwoofer speaker wire you can never go too big gauge only too small, a kicker 12 gauge speaker wire will work for almost any application
Q: Coming from my ceiling I have a black, a grey, 2 white, 2 bare and a red wire. Coming from my ceiling fan/light fixture is a green, black, black with a white stripe and a white wire. How exactly would I go about wiring this? It is a two switch setup without a remote.Thank you in advance.
You have too many wires coming from the ceiling, as it could have done (for separate fan and light control) with a black, red, white, and ground (like 14/3 w/ground romex). Someone apparently added a second run of wire up there. Up at the fan, determine which wire on the fan runs the motor, likely a black fan wire, and which powers the lights (likely a blue fan wire). Connect each to its own switch, preferably using the black you have for the fan, and say the red for the lights, tie the whites together, and the bare together. And the grey just gets ignored. This is gonna be good...
Q: Im wondering if this 24 awg wire is good for guitar wiring. Doesn't look like something that i usually would see people use when wiring, since there is lots of different wires and colour coding wrapped up inside it.
Given okorder / I hope this will help with your decision. Good luck!
Q: Hello,I am trying to figure out what type of metal jewelry wire I need for a beading project. I found mostly copper wire at the craft store, as well as a smaller variety of aluminum and brass wire. Is this copper wire (came in many colors) a durable wire? It seemed very soft. Is there a stronger wire on the market? I am mostly looking for 22-28 gauge wire. Thanks!
there are an entire heap of distinctive wires for all of the diverse issues you additionally could make. so as that is my first question, what do you ought to make? in case you're only beginning out, i'd advise paying for a sturdy determination of distinctive wires and prepare to discover what works for you. inventive wires or craft wires are suitable as they are much less costly. you additionally can circulate with silver/gold plated wires.
Q: My telephone doesn't work. No Dial tone. When I plug the phone into the box outside the phone works so that tells me it is the wiring going into or in the house. The phone repairman put in a new phone box outside because the old one wasn't accessible anymore (we accidentally built a porch over it) when he did that he spliced the wire going from the old box to the new box. The wires that he spliced hang down under the porch. There are 4 wires coming out of each wire, but only two are spliced together. Should the other two be spliced also? I'm thinking maybe they were but my dog has messed with them. The phone service went down all of the sudden and I don't really know anything else to check. Any ideas?
each phone line uses a pair of wires (2 wires) these wires would normally be green/red or blue/white and solid blue for line 1 and if needed yellow/black or orange/white and solid orange for line 2... you did the first step in troubleshooting to know that the trouble resides inside your home... so when you call into your line does the phone ring busy (or go straight to voice mail) or does it just keep ringing.... if it rings busy (or straight to VM) then there is a short on the line... this is possibly a defective phone, a phone that is off the hook, or a bad jack or wire... if the phone just keeps ringing, then there is a broken wire somewhere...... since the old NID is no longer accessible, you may need to run a section of wire from the new NID to one of the existing jacks in your home to back feed the jacks... if you do this i recommend disconnecting the wire that is going from the new NID to the old NID, as if you reverse the polarity you may end up shorting out your line with the new wire...
Q: whats a good brand for 0 gauge wire to get? im looking for a good brand that has 100% OFC wire, i would get knukonceptz, but their wires are copper coated aluminum which isnt as good.
Just get some 0 gauge at home depot. You are wasting your money with anything else.
Q: hi to all, pls try to help me,, to get the kawasaki zxr250 cdi color wiring diagram!?i hope that you help me..i really hope that i use my kawasaki big bike,.....thank you !!!!!rose,,
Wiring diagrams are always black and white. Do you need a wiring diagram for your bike, or do you just want one in color?
Q: How do I wire this ceiling fan? There are two house wires coming from ceiling-one white, one black. There are three wires on the fan- one white, one solid black, and one black with a white stripe. There is one light switch in the room that will be operating the fan/light (the fan has a light on it). I wired the white wire to the white wire, the black wire with the white stripe to the black wire, didn't know where to wire the solid black wire to. Now only the light part of the fan works, the fan does not work at all. Where does the solid black wire go? I need both the fan and the light to work.
The black and black/white are the hot legs for the fan and the light kit.If you have separate switches on your wall then you could operate the fan and the light without having to pull the string. On my house all the switches are that way.Up in the ceiling there is an additional hot wire.It is colored red.
