- Q: ok so the passenger side back floorboard was getting wet and i believe the water to have corroded the wiring to my radio i've taken care of the water problem and know how to reconfigure the wiring but do i need to be worried about the security system while tinkering with the wiring see as how sensitive the security in these cars are i figured id check and see what you guys have to say about this pls also give resources as to how you know
- you can go to best buy and order a new wiring harness, for your car. all you do is plug it in, to your car and SOUND system and alarm
- Q: Im currently running 8 gauge power wire from my battery to my amp which is a hifonics zxi8408 i have it bridged to 2 channels so its pushing 440 watts x2 to 2 alpine type Rs. The current speaker wire im running is 16 gauge. My question is...since im going to go down to 4 gauge power wire, should I lower the speaker wire and get 12 gauge speaker wire also? What will sound the best?
- 4 gauge is just fine.
- Q: Hi,I'm trying to connect a Panasonic CQ RDP200-LEN car radio. Normally, there is red and yellow wire for ignition and constant, and a black wire for ground. However, this unit has 2 yellow wires,2 black wires and a red. Where do these wires go? thanks
- Honest answer is to take it to a audio specialist. finding and wiring a stereo from scratch (termed hardwiring) is a hard job even for the most advanced audio specialist. This is speaking from experience. Most wires are not colour coded and you will need a amp meter to measure the current, voltage, continuity and resistance in order to find out what wire does what. One wrong wire could mean new speakers or in the worst case set fire to your car. I've have done hardwires for over 5 years, and I've seen some real mess, which quite possibly could have been avoided for a few quid but impatience and inexperience has lead to new cables, trim and other pieces which were damaged due to bad installations. Please be careful!! added 9/11/06: (Note To other answeres) Don't use Choc connections or block connectors for wiring stereos as these are open connections with exposed areas of metal if they came into contact with earthed chassis they can cause a short try using bullet style or butt connectors they are more secure and sheilded!
- Q: just need a little help to make right.just wiring an outlet from building to breaker box outside.. which way is the right way to wire it to a breaker then the box. Got the right breaker. Thanks
- This doesn't sound like an easy answer without seeing it. For instance, how long is the wire run; is it entirely outside (if so, then you'll need either conduit for the full run, or UF-B rated wire buried below the freeze line with conduit where it exits the ground to the Service Panel). Outside receptacles should also be GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected. A single pole 20amp breaker should be used for a 12/3 wire. Load wire (black) goes into the screw of the breaker; the neutral (white) wire screws into the neutral bus bar of the service panel (breaker box), and the bare ground wire screws into the ground bus bar. Since these wires are interchangeable, it really doesn't matter which side of the panel you hook the neutral and ground wire to. BE CAREFUL!!!!! The main bus bars can still be hot (charged) even with the power turned off. If you ground yourself and touch the wrong thing, you'll be wondering what went wrong from the great beyond. Get a basic electricity book from Home Depot, or look on youtube. If you're not 100% confident, please leave this to a professional.
- Q: subs - dvc 4ohm 2 of them 600wattrms on each wiring it to a 1200 watt amp same brand as sub amp is 1 ohm stable to i wire the subs together and then to the amp a 1ohm? that would give each sub 600 watts right?
- myself I even have 2 - jl w6's under pressure to 3 ohms. under pressure to a fosgate 4 channel amp, the two channels bridged and the amp sees a million/2 ohm after bridging and the amp works positive with the best points set at 0 i are not getting the suitable overall performance this type and would desire to cord to 6 ohms. and bridge to 3 ohms and this would be greater suitable yet have not tried it yet will interior the destiny. shop this set up if it sounds reliable yet seem interior the destiny to get an amp or subs that artwork at the same time.
- Q: THERMOSTAT WIRING
- Connect the red wire to the R terminal on the t-stat, connect the white wire to the W terminal, connect the green wire to the G terminal and connect the blue wire to the Y terminal on the t-stat. The B terminal is not used on most thermostats. Unfortunately most manufacturers of thermostat wire do not make 4-wire with a yellow wire and instead make it with a blue wire, that is why they don't match up perfectly. The red wire provides 24v power from the furnace, the white wire controls the call for heat from the t-stat, the green wire controls the fan, and the blue wire/yellow terminal controls the air conditioner.
- Q: Okay, I just started tearing into my partially finished basement of the home I bought last week. Some of the electrical wiring is interesting to say the least.I have a junction box in the basement. One wire connects directly to the panel, another out to an outlet, and the third goes up and out to half the house. All of this is 14/2 except the quot;thirdthat runs up and out. This is wired with 14/3 but the third wire isn't connected to anything. Should I be concerned considering every outlet in the house works?
- 14/2 wire with a ground is what is used for most all typical electrical outlets and switches. 14/3 wire with a ground comes with an extra wire for 3-way switches. Sounds like he ran out of the 14/2 and used the 14/3 instead. For peace of mind, you could locate the loose end (probably a red wire), and install a wire nut so it can never become energized. Be carefull. Make sure you shut off the breaker before you work on any electrical.
- Q: I am in the process of installing a new thermostat, but I ran into the problem: new thermostat has 4 ports W, Y, R and G. But the old thermostat has 5 wires: W, Y, G and B. I am not sure where B wire (black color) should go. Do I need to look for another thermostat that has a port for B wire?
- The black wire should be for ground. You and try to connect it without the black first to see if everything works ok, if it does tape off the black and tape it to the other wires. If not look at your UPM diagram and see which port is for ground and it should hook up with that wire. But I would double check with the heat pump wiring diagram to see what that black goes to and verify that wire with a multimeter.
- Q: I have 1971 slide in truck camper with 5 way pin wiring wires are red, white ,yellow, black, green.need to know what wire's do what...thanks
- On a 4 wire harness, normally the left turn signal is green, right is yellow, tail lights are brown, and ground is black. The fifth wire is usually for surge brakes as on a heavy trailer. Take a look at the link below for various configurations.
- Q: Ok, bought this mower at an estate auction for next to nothing. It looks like its never been used. Previous owner ripped out all the wires to the ignition switch so it wouldn't sell I guess. It's the craftsman lt 1500. Model number 247.288812. It has the 17.5hp bs motor in it. Does anyone know the correct way the wires go to the switch? There are 3 red wires so its a bit unlike what im used to. Thanks in advance!
- On my sears mower with an electric clutch the switch is wired like this. G terminal is a black wire to ground. B terminal is a red wire to the ammeter. S terminal is a white wire to a safety switch. M terminal has two black wires one to the ignition coil and the other to a safety switch. L teminal is a red wire to the alternator and a red wire to the PTO switch.
