- Q:Broken dryer, 4 bladed wire, Old dryer available to me, has a 3 wire cord, can I swap the cords?
- the guidelines basically recently replaced interior the previous couple of years requiring new properties to be geared up with the 4 prong recepticals rather than the three prong recepticals for 220 V merchants. in the experience that your dryer is fantastically new, interior the final 4 years or so... the twine that is hooked as much because it now could have the skill to be interchanged with a 4 prong twine by basically buyingh a 4 prong twine and screwing the eylets to the surprising connections at the back of your dryer. in the experience that your twine won't be able to be switched out, then i'd pass backward and replace the 4 prong container with a three prong container. i'd do it this sort so as that one and all your electric connections are interior a receptical, rather of having 220 Volt wires basically twine nuted at the same time.ok good success.
- Q:i have 4 wires going to a ac unit #10 wires 2 wires for each cir. and i need to know how many amps can I run with 2 #10 copper for one side of the breaker
- 10 wire is rated for a maximum of 30 amps. This size wire can not be run in parallel to carry more current. I suggest that you have a local qualified professional electrician do the work since you seem unsure about what you are asking.
- Q:wires have been cut and i have 4 wires i dont know what do.what colors are for what?
- What are you wiring??
- Q:I dont understand it I am trying to get a 1ohm load on a 2ohm dvc speaker but cant figure out how to tell if the wire you connect in the postive terminal on the sub in a neg wire or positive how do you tell what the gray line is on this diagram positive or negetive and how to tell. thanks
- You are wiring the sub in parallel. from the positive terminal of the amp you connect both positive terminals of the sub, and Viceversa for the negative. The wire is either positive or negative depending on which terminal it touched. Make sure your amp can handle an impedance of 1 ohm.
- Q:Im installing a motion sensor which comes with 3 wires, red black and white and want to connect it to a indoor light that only comes with 2 wires white and black. How do I go about installing them and powering them?
- Hook the white wire to the white on the fixture and the white coming in. The black coming in gets wired to the black wire on the detector. The red gets hooked the the black in the fixture.
- Q:What exactly is 6 AWG stranded grounding wire usually used for?
- In a nutshell: a) Verify that your service drop has the capacity for the additional load - verify this with your utility. b) If you are planning to install a 200A service in the barn, and you are planning to bury the wire, you will need to use 3-0 wire in a conduit. Use separate conductors. Check with your local electrical inspector, but I do not believe you will need to run a separate ground within the conduit for this application. The code may have changed, however. c) You will need to install a 200A fused safety-switch at the pole, and a new 200A panel in the barn. d) The barn panel will also have a 200A main disconnect breaker in it. e) You will need to install an additional ground-rod (or rods) at the barn panel. 1. DO NOT use old/used wire. 2. Consider running triplex wire overhead as it will be less expensive and equally effective. 3. Get the work inspected by an underwriter - your fire insurance will be voided if you do not. Lastly, it is not rocket science, but the codes and standards that apply are there for a reason - follow them carefully and fully and you will be fine.
- Q:In that chart it has 2 sections, one is maximum amps for chassis wiring and the other is maximum amps for power transmission. What is considered chassis wiring and what is considered power transmission?
- Chassis Wiring
- Q:A load of 125 kip is being held by 3 wires all going up. The Wire one goes straight from the load to the horizontal. Wire 2 and 3 form a V on top of wire 1 and are 30 degrees from wire 1. This is a 2-D problem.
- You need to use summation of forces. Wires 1 and 2 are gonna have the same tension on them, just in opposite directions. so in the x direction, Fx=125cos(30)+125cos(150) (the vertical wire doesn't contribute to the x-direction forces and I choose 150 because the wire on the left really has an angle of 180-30 or 150) in the y direction, Fy=125sin(30)+125sin(150)+125sin(90) (The vertical wire is a 90 degree angle) Tension=sqrt( Fx^2 + Fy^2 )
- Q:can aluminum wiring catch on fire
- The wire does not burn, rather it causes arcs in the connections that then start a fire in the insulation around the wiring. If at all in doubt about the wiring have a qualified professional electrician do an inspection of the panel and the wiring.
- Q:Source 115V 20A breakerI have 12/2 wire and want to wire this:GFCI 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacle -to- 15A receptacleI have basic wiring skills, just need reassurance. Thanks.
- Comment: I don't know why john said to use a 6 piece of wire and wire nut the blacks together. Why not use the screws provided for wiring through? Why go through the trouble of making a pigtail ? Edit; I stand corrected.
