- Q:I just traded with someone and got a PS3. It came with just the power cord. When I plug it in the red light comes on but it just beeps twice and that's it. Is it because I don't have an AV cable or it is broken?
- You need the av cable to see and hear it but if it doesn't turn on at all it's broken. It should start with just the power cord
- Q:Hey guys, I noticed that with heavy use of the power cord to my laptop, a part of the rubber surrounding the cord is open near the insertion part and you can see the wires. I'm just curious how dangerous it is. I don't have another power cord for my laptop, so do any of you have a recommendation for what I can do?
- if you can see the copper on the inside then yes it is very dangerous, but if you don't want to buy a new cable all you should need is some black electrical tape and wrap it around the exposed area and it should be fine.
- Q:I have an electrical source 220 Kv or 380 KV at site X and want to pull cables to site Y to privde electricity for this Y site for general lighting and power sockets. So what is the max distance for the cables i can pull from site X without voltage drop affect the voltage or power at site Y.
- You are not providing enough information. 220 KV can provide power of TENS of miles on reasonably modest cable PROVIDING the current drain is not too high. Sorry but the idea of anyone playing around with almost .4 MV without the first idea about loading / cable diameter / insualtion requirements scares the crap out of me! Without the required information, all I can say is With the right cable at 380KV , hundreds of miles As an aside, if this is a temorary site, then the cost of buying generator will be WAY cheaper than the cost of the cable and transformers you wil require to turn 380Kv into 110 / 220V If a permenent fixture, then suggest for normal lighting and sockets (as in no industrial smelting plants!), then you would eed to be dropping the voltage either at the 380kv site OR at least some distance from the new fixture. Houses do not typically have .4 MV coming into the cellar. It might arc a few metres you see if the air is a little humid. Make things a bit dodgy. **UPDATE** Ok, thanks for clarifying the voltage. Now we also know power too -so at 220v, and about 12KW we are looking at VERY roughly 55 Amps. 25mm cable ought to be good for a couple of hundred metres or so. 16mm for upto 50 metres or so. If a LOT further than that, then either go with three phase/380 OR up the size of the cable. Problem is it can start getting pricey. The shorter the run, the lighter the cable can be - to a point - would NOT suggest going below 10mm under ANY circumstances. You will always get SOME voltage drop, but providing it is in the order of a couple of volts here and there, there is no appreciable waste / heat generation. Is this a fixed installation or a temporary one - if temporary and a fair distance away I would STILL be inclined to sugges a genset hire might work out cheaper than drums of suitable cable.
- Q:eSata means you connect the drive from outside the case. If so, what kind of cable do you use for power, assuming you're not opening up the case to use the regular molex connectors?
- Most okorder /
- Q:my friend has a dell that has a btx mobo. the power supply looks like all the other power supplys. will getting a regular power cord at radio shack fit and work with the dell power supplys. the cables that come out of the supply are all the same as usual ones.
- the power cord for most all power supplies are universal.
- Q:I know Ethernet cable is much more susceptible to electromagnetic interference than fiber optic cable, but is fiber completely immune to it? I want to wrap a fiber optic cable around a 230 volt power line going through my attic for about 150 feet. Will this cause problems?
- Hi There, The 220 volt AV power cable will not cause any interference but it is not a good idea. The fiberoptic cable should be ran separate. It is a little more work but the right way to route the cable. You have to be very careful not to exceed the bend radius and wrapping around an existinf power wire might cause a problem. =====this is from the link below======= Do not install a fiber optic cable in a conduit or duct that already contains cabling, regardless of the cable type. Existing or new empty ductwork can be modified to accept several different installations by the placement of innerduct within it. ======================================... Hope this helps, Al
- Q:I have a power adapter that changes the tip of a power cable from the US standard to the Spain standard. My laptop has 3 prongs and the adapter accepts 2. It fits into it, but the 3rd prong just rests outside. I know the voltage over there is twice as strong, so will this work correctly?
- Yes it should work.... BUT you will not have any ground protection. So, if something goes wrong with your laptop power supply, it's going to fry. ADDED --- Never directly said the 3rd prong was to protect the equipment. Although it does limit the damage to the device while protecting you from electrocution.
- Q:I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR Digital Cable box and yesterday when I arrived home, it was not showing the time or any evidence of power. The TV and DVD player work just fine, but not the box. I unplugged it, tried a different plug but no power. I hear the box working, but it never shows any sign of powering on. This box is maybe a month old.Any thoughts?
- I have a Scientific 2200 and it won't power on either. I've tried everything. It happened 2x in the last week. The other time it came back on by itself after a little while. This time -nothing. Tech is coming tomorrow. Better be bringing a new box......
- Q:I need to replace the power cable for my HF M300, but I'm having trouble finding the proper one. Can somebody tell me what it is I need (preferrably at OKorder)? Thanks!
- The power adapter that came in the box is Canon's CA-570. Search for that at OKorder.
- Q:The monitor is ........ Since I have a HDMI cable will i need anything else?
- An HDMI cable is not a power cable, it is only used to view the picture from whatever source it is.
