- Q: Be shampooed like other carpets or does it have to be cleaned another way? My wife thinks it has to be steam cleaned.
- Berber carpet needs a rotary machine to clean properly. A typical carpet cleaning wand will not cut it with berber. Also you need chemicals that can break the oil loving properties that olefin, which 80% of berbers are, fibers have.
- Q: I've been window shopping for a rug online :) Has anyone got a Caribu at all? what do you think of the quality? Any rug that I like is atleast $300... but thats a bit pricey. I just cant believe the jump in price of everything since I last had a horse. She had a good quality lined canvas rug that I paid no more than $100 brand new and it lasted her yrs and yrs I think it was a Weatherbeeta and I sure wish I still had it now!
- Weatherbeeta, Rambo and Rhino.
- Q: just found out my light turnout rugs from last year to keep my horses protected from the wind and rain as they live out all year but they are kinda stinky as theyv been storred in the yards shed, the writing on the tag has wore away so i cant see what it says about washing them?they are amigo light turnouts.do you wash yours in any particular way? and what do you use to wash them in?
- They should be washed regularly to help keep your horse's coat clean and healthy. This is every rug - indoor, outdoor, fleeces, sheets etc. The easiest way to clean it yourself is to get a big tub (a bath will do!) and fill it with hot water and soap flakes (get something suitable for washing baby clothes in and make sure it is non bio) - I use something called Granny's Soap Flakes, get them in Tesco :). Put the rug in the water with the soap flakes and use a brush or a stick or something to move it round and clean it thoroughly. You might want to leave it to soak for a little while first. If it's really muddy, I suggest hosing it off with the hosepipe first to get the worst off. Then once you've cleaned it as much as you can in the tub, rinse thoroughly and hang out to dry. You may need to wash it more than once if it's very dirty. They will need to be re-proofed at least every other winter or they will not keep your horse dry. To be honest, I find it easier to get my rugs cleaned professionaly. Most places offer a collection/delivery service and it's not expensive - usually about ?12 for a turnout wash and ?10 for a stable. That's not bad when you consider how much time and effort you have to put into washing it yourself! Plus they get them much cleaner!!
- Q: I want this skanky carpet gone. How difficult is it to take out, and what does it entail...?Note- hardwood floor underneath...in good condition.Thank You.
- just pull it up..you will need a scraper..pliers..and a hammer..use the pliers to pinch the carpet in the corner and pull it up..once all the carpet is pulled up..go around the edges..you will see a slim board like a ruler with tacks..pry that up and trash it..next using the scraper from one corner to the next slide it slightly to look for any staples or finishing nails..any staples located use the pliers to pull out..finishing nails use the hammer to nail back down..once that is done..clean the floor well and tada...
- Q: The rug will hang on a wall. The major background color is white, so it will need to be cleaned about once a year. How should I clean it?
- Any spray adhesive should work, look in the local craft store. For a more finished appearance, rugs and wall hangings should be bound. You can use either a sew on binding or an iron on. To finish without binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, fold to back of rug , match mesh and baste in place. To finish with binding, cut canvas at least 3 holes beyond the outside edge of the design, then cut the corners diagonally about away from the pile. Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge. Turn so the back is facing you, then fold back and sew the other edge of the binding to the back of the rug Miter corners and stitch down Finishing a wall hanging: Start at upper corner, sew on binding around both sides and bottom of the rug Then with right side facing you, sew one edge of the binding as close as possible the knotted edge of the top of the rug, turn over so the back is facing you, then sew down making sure you will have enough room to insert a rod or piece of dowel through. Alternatively you can just bind the rug in the normal manner, then to hang, sew on large wooden curtain rings, slide over a wooden rod, add wooden finials to the ends of the rod and hang. As for cleaning, my best advice is take it to a reputable cleaner, tell them what it is made from (type of yarn, etc), and ask if they can clean it with no damage. If you want to try washing it at home, use a good rug upholstery cleaner diluted with water in a bucket, then clean the rug by working a foam with a sponge, then using the foam gently rub into the material. Then dry by gently rubbing with terry cloth (towel). I would test a piece of yarn to make sure it's colorfast, first.
- Q: Im moving next week and im expecting my second baby. Im on a budget but I would still like a nice area rug for the living room. Around 60 to 80 dollars?
- Check okorder Good luck with the baby and the move and I hope you find what you need.
- Q: wax cleanup from rug
- I have used an iron and a cloth to get wax out of the carpet before. Lay the clth over the area and then apply a warm iron to the cloth, Hold it in place for awhile and then remove it. If I remember correctly, I had to do it about 20 times to get all the wax removed, but it worked.
- Q: Life span is 5 years on this bright white carpet. They lived here 2 years before us, and didnt replace the carpets before we moved in, and we lived here for 2 years.. Meaning the carpet is currently 4 years old out of the 5year life span. We did normal wear and tear, and we did make a few spots but nothing huge or horribly bad. Anyways, they want us to pay for the whole carpet cost. Is that right? Were in minnesota
- You are only ever responsible for the remaining life of the carpet if you destroyed it. Assuming the life was 5 years, which is up for debate apparently, then you could be held responsible for 1/5 the cost to replace it with a similar type carpet. Under no circumstance would you be responsible for the full replacement value.
- Q: Ok So Im Gonna Be Shampooing MY Carpets Tomorrow And I Dont Have any Carpet Cleaner Is THere Any Thing Else I Can use??
- You can use cleaners like fabuloso, pine sol, fantastic, **** and span, in small amounts. Use the floor dilution. You can also dilute laundry detergent and use that, but you might have to go back over it and rinse it. I'd recommend getting a carpet cleaner. I really like hoover's pet odor formula, even if you don't have pets, it really makes the carpets clean, smell great and repel stains.
- Q: I need to replace my 45 year old carpet. It is showing it's age. But one thing that has never been done is having it re stretched. Not one wrinkle. It lays as flat and tight as the day it was put in. So this beings up the question. quot;Should a properly installed wall to wall carpet ever need to be re stretched?quot; I have noticed many carpets in newer homes that are all wrinkled. And many people I've talked with after installing carpet need to have it stretched again, sometimes more then twice. Is this an inherent problem with what the carpets are made of now days? By the way my carpet is wool.
- Carpet restretching could be necessary from poor installation, the carpet not being stretched enough when it was installed, but it can also be caused by the carpet backing stretching. Carpet backing can stretch from being poorly made, or from humidity or temperature fluctuations. Sometimes even well made and properly installed carpet needs to be restretched. Sometimes poorly made and poorly installed carpet never needs to be restretched. Few carpets besides wool would last 45 years, congrats on keeping your carpet going for so long!
