Q: I need to cut a curved piece of cement board. Will it work to score it with a utility knife, then break it? Thanks.: Yes it cuts just like drywall, scrore then snap.Score a bit deeper though.

Q: My fear is that I will trap moisture where it shouldn't be. Is there such a thing as overkill?: No problem. i dont call it overkill. I would rather do it know than wish i had.

Q: how do you join cement board from a shower wall to drywall?: Other than being nailed to the same stud, it is not all that necessary that they be joined together. Just figure on the tile overlapping the drywall about a half an inch to kill the crack. You can mesh tape them together however and skim them flat with each other as long as you don't skim wide into the tile board area. You could do as little as just caulk the crack with silicone too.

Q: Is it a decoration material? What's the difference?: Wood and Miyan cement board is a decoration material, like a large piece of gypsum board, the size is 1220X2440 (MM), wood grain cement board is more delicate, more beautiful rock.

Q: I am planning on replacing my current bathroom floor with 3/4 plywood. I want to use 1/4 cement board as my sub-floor. However, I am not sure if peel and stick flooring will work with cement board. Please help.: First of all, you sub-floor is the 3/4 plywood. Anything over that is overlayment. What goes over that is the flooring. I agree with the 1/4 luan. What I don't agree with is why in the world would anyone use peel and stick flooring.

Q: the cement board is made of cement-bonded paper sludge: I'm not sure but, I know under direct heat concrete tends to explode.

Q: Sorry for the double post, this is an addendum to my previous question. I am planning to re-tile the downstairs foyer. Since it's on the 1st floor of a townhouse with no basement I think there's cement slab underneath, but if I need backer board I need to purchase and make arrangements to cut (I don't own a saw yet). I'd like to take a couple tiles off to check, but how can I tell the difference between the two?: one is cement and one is gypsum.

Q: I have laid ed cement board down but I did not stagnate the boards.Will this affect the ceramic tile.?: it's not as stable a surface as if you did stagger the joints. the tiles could buckle or lift near the long joint. if you can do it simply, re do the cement board now, it's easier than later.
