- Q: okay so im making a notebook collage n i was wondering if i can use rubber cement...oh and does it dry clear because i added some now and it's kinda dark colored and i don't want people to see the stains.. i dont have an eraser or anything like that!
- I used it many times to temporarily glue photography artwork to the matting board. The good thing about it -- it is removable when dry. Just scrub it lightly with a paper towel or even with your fingers. I buy my rubber cement in art supply stores, it is not dark colored at all and they also sell a convenient big rubber eraser for it. Beware: it is not to create a permanent bond; the photos will fall off in time.
- Q: i would also like to know what products might help me. Thanks :) Oh, and the type of board i got is called hardi-bord... i didnt know if that might help.
- Hardi-backer okorder is excellent - tile professionals!
- Q: I am making a custom kitchen island and I planned to tile the top of it. The top of the island is going to be made of thick plywood for strength and I was told by the man at the hardwood store where I bought all the supplies that I needed to place cement board down on the plywood before I placed the tile down. I had bought a trim to go around the table top, hoping that it would be flush with the tile once the time went into place, however using the cement board makes the trim flush with the cement board and after the tile is installed, it would be about 5 mm taller than the trim. Do I really need to use the cement board? Would it be a bad idea to place the tile and mortar directly on the plywood?
- No, for your stated use cement board would not be needed. You can glue the tile directly to the plywood. Once the tile work is completed, wait a week then seal the tile and grout with a silicone sealer.
- Q: Unfortinatly i already have the tile but i was hoping i could use self leveling cement then atattch the tile to it. is this even a posabilityor should i use hardyback board and if i do how can i atattch it to the cement
- do not use anything from lowes or home depot. what you need is a self leveling underlayment. go to a concrete supply house or contractors supply store. I recommend United Products self leveling underlayment or Dayton Superior's Levelayer I. Mix it and pour it. that's it. wait a day or 2 and you can lay your tile.
- Q: How to remove the paint on the surface of the cement board
- And in the ground after the marble pavement, causing the door can not open. In addition to saw the short door, another way is to put the door up a few centimeters, so that the door up to move. This approach can ensure that the door is not shortened, but more laborious.
- Q: Cement pressure board do wall do not work? Solid and waterproof there is no problem?
- Of course, the cement pressure plate is not the external walls of material, solid and waterproof are not meet the requirements.
- Q: What besides cement board can i use to set tile on?
- Hi Kaitlin, here's a link to a product called Denshield. I like it very well as it's much easier to work with than cement board. I think you could find this product locally.
- Q: Replacing the cement board is not realistic, I don't know of anything that may be more flexible and not deteriorate so quickly.
- there are some colored cement repair products that contain silicone that may work good, also you can just use white silicone or caulk just squeeze it in and let it dry have a rag handy for cleanup both are flexible and last a long time.
- Q: i'm replacing the tiles in my tub area and i'm changing the existing wall to cement board. how do i join it with the rest of the bathroom wall that's texture?
- Use backerboard screws, (or galvanized nails/screws) If you want overkill use stainless screws.. Some say you should 1st install a waterproof membrane to protect the wood framing from moisture ie Tyvek or felt paper etc. backerboard will not be damaged by water but it is not a waterprrof barrier. I don't know that for sure but better safe than sorry. Seams in wonderboard/hardiboard etc should be taped w/ fibreglass tape and tile adhesive. Edit: I just read your additioanl comments. I would extend the tile beyond the backerboard seams.
- Q: I have a cement back porch/patio approx 5'x22' that I've decided to tile.I know...tile outside...touchy subject, except I got 20 inch tiles at a steal. Problem is, while doing a mock layout, I noticed that many areas on the surface are unlevel (the tile rocks). It difficult to identify every single unlevel spot so I can't patch. Any recommendations on leveling the whole thing? Someone mentioned use wonder board (thin cement board) as an overlay, but I believe you'll still have weak spots beneath.Anyone have a suggestion?
- how uneven is the slab. You can put a pretty thick layer of thinset adhesive and cover up some of the unevenness. If you put down a 1/2 inch of thinset around the bad spots will it stop the tile from rocking? the whole slab doesn't need to be even, but each tile needs to be even with the ones surrounding it
