- Q: ok so i have a power acoustik ov2-2200 amp right now and all my wires are working fine with this amp....i am going to buy a lanzar MXA282 which is more wattage (RMS)Do i need to get any new wires to hook this amp up? like the power ground or remote wires? thx... sorry for my ignorance :/
- What size wire do you have now? You will most likely have to upgrade your power wire with that new amp. It is rated at 2000w RMS of total output so that would mean you would need a 1/0 gauge wire. All you need to upgrade is the power wire and the ground wire. The remote wire or RCA won't need to be upgraded. You will also probably need to get a new fuse box for the larger wire. - Q: I am installing a ceiling fan. The directions say to connect the blue and black wire from the fan to the black wire coming from the ceiling and the white to the white from the ceiling using a wire nut. I have connected those with no problemThat leaves me with a green ground wire coming from the fan. However, the only ground wire coming from the ceiling is a naked solid copper wire. How am I supposed to connect those using a wire nut??
- the same way you connected the black from the ceiling to the blue and black and the white to the white. If your ceiling wires didn't have a bare solid part, unless they too are stranded, you did not make a connection. They must be stripped first, about a half and inch. to connect stranded to solid you have two choices: 1 'tin' the stranded wire with a soldering gun, which is not practical but works, and then twist together with solid wire then wirenut them both. this method is almost never used. 2 twist the stranded wire so it is tightly bundled, hold it with the solid wire slightly behind it, the stranded should stick passed the solid maybe an eigth inch, then wirenut them both. tug on each wire seperately like you are trying to pull it out of the wirenut to make sure they are securely connected.

- dt has it correct, but I think your one silver colored bare wire off the fan is a Support cable (Steel air craft cable) this should be attached to the back of your mounting box IF it is a fan rated box.

- Cannot tell you..you have accounted for only 4 wires in that ceiling...and you will need a voltmeter to do the job. The wiring you talk about is impossible unless there is another switched light/recepticle on this circuit. Goldwing
