- Q: I am installing a ceiling fan. The directions say to connect the blue and black wire from the fan to the black wire coming from the ceiling and the white to the white from the ceiling using a wire nut. I have connected those with no problemThat leaves me with a green ground wire coming from the fan. However, the only ground wire coming from the ceiling is a naked solid copper wire. How am I supposed to connect those using a wire nut??

- Q: On what actually does ampere depends, thickness of wire or number of turns of wire or what else? Electrical
- ampere depends on the number of turns..........
- Q: I like bending paperclips to make things, does anyone know where you could buy spools of the wire paperclips are made out of.(any type of wire that is the same size and material will work)
- For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/axqI3 No, I am afraid you can't ... you need a special alloy, not paper clips, which are mild steel.
- Q: can anyone please tell me what does hook-up wire mean and how does it differ from other kinds of wires such as light duty and heavy duty? Also, which one should I use for breadboards?
- Hookup wire is a term usually reserved for wire sizes smaller than 16 AWG, usually single strand conductor. It is generally used in applications where current-carrying capacity is not of prime importance. Breadboarding is one of these applications, but usually uses 22AWG or smaller wire.
- Q: I wanna know how does the temperature affect the resistance of the wire.
- Cold decreases the resistance. Anything becomes more stable with cold temp. which calms down atoms so they are more condensed or alligned which allows easier conductivity of electricity. You computer chips uses materials whose atoms are already condensed or alligned to carry these 'messages'. Research shows atoms' basic properties can be altered with extreme cold temperatures.
- Q: Thermostat has two red wires two black wires. The baseboard has one red one black wire.
- I'm not sure I understand how you're trying to hook this up. It sounds like you've got two pairs of black and white wires? Were these installed with the intention of supporting a 220 volt device? You really should be seeing a black and a red wire, and measuring 220 volts between them. Try measuring between the two black wires - you'll either get 220 volts, or nothing (if they're on the same leg). What connections are available at the heater, and how are they labeled?
- Q: could someone teach or explain to me how to hook up the 1st one, i do not understand what is happening there. How do you connect thoes wires to the main wire??? the distribution?
- Ok, first thing you want to do is, for each subwoofer, wire a negative and positive together. You can use regular speaker wire to do that (well you're supposed to anyway). After that, you will have a negative and positive terminal left on each subwoofer. What you need to do is run a speaker wire from each of the terminals, so you have 6 different wires from 6 separate terminals. Make note of the 3 positive wires and the 3 negative wires. Now what you do is simply twist together the 3 positive wires together, so you have 1 positive wire. Connect that positive wire to the positive terminal of the amp (if it's a 1 channel amp. If it's a 2 channel, connect it to a bridged channel on the positive terminal. Or however you want.) Do the same for the 3 negative wires. Twist them together to have 1 negative wire, and connect it to the negative terminal on the amp. Finished! That kind of wiring is called Series wiring, by the way. The other kind is called Parallel wiring.
- Q: I bought a chandelier from Ikea and I am having trouble wiring it. The colors do not match the colors in the ceiling. There is also one extra wire in the ceiling. This chandelier is to be controlled by a switch. Chandelier wire colors:WhiteBlackGreen/yellowCeiling wire colors:RedYellowBareBlackPlease help! Thank you!
- Since your ceiling wires are not standard, we can only guess. Chandelier: Black = hot White = neutral Green/Yellow = ground Ceiling: Black = hot (connect to the chandelier black wire) Bare = ground (connect to the chandelier green/yellow wire) Red is usually the color code for power that is controlled by a wall switch. Yellow - I have no earthly idea. Could be a 2nd switch controlled wire. You need to get a test meter to see what wire has power 100% of the time (hot), what wires have power part of the time (via wall switch) and what wire(s) have no power at all (ground/neutral wires).
