Q: Okay, I have been wanting to turn my garage into a dance studio for a while. I have checked in to marley flooring and it is so expensive. I don't want to get the 'home studio kit' and don't want wood flooring. So where can I find cheap marley flooring? Thanks :)
There is no such thing a cheap marley and you cannot put marley directly on cement. Marley is meant to be put on top of a sub floor that is sprung or floating. Even the portable marley with the foam backing which is the most expensive one, has to be on top of a floor with some give and never cement. The only way to put a dance floor over cement is to isolate it from the cement by raising the floor up and using a floating floor or sprung floor. Then you put marley on top of that if you can afford it. You can however just dance on a wood floor as long as it is isolation from the cement floor and is sprung or floating.
Q: Moving to the French Quarter and would like to make a name plaque. How do you write "second floor" and "2nd floor" in French? Thanks!
floor n US (building: starts at 1) étage nm I live on the second floor. Just one floor up from the street. J'habite au premier étage, au-dessus du rez-de-chaussée I hope it helps.
Q: i have a floor that is in an older house that would like to tile. Unfortunately, it has a swell in the center of about two inches from when the house settled. Does anyone know of a commercial levelling product i can just trowel on to level the floor so the tile will lay flat? The ease of use is a big factor, i like things simple. Thanks.
to raise your whole floor with leveling compound will take alot of work, and money... if its the subfloor I would suggest replacing that part of the floor.. if you are putting it over a hardwood, or laminate floor.. you could cut that part of the floor out, and spend way less leveling just that part of the floor. don't bother with leveling your whole floor it will cost a buttload. (call local flooring company, and have them come out and check it out to give you other ideas)
Q: Hello, I had a new home built about a year ago. The framer let the floor boards get rained on before the roof was installed. The floors were sanded then a hardwood floor was installed on top. When I walk on the floors they make cracking and squeaky sounds plus they feel squishy. I know the hardwood floor will have to be removed but what are my options for correcting the subfloor besides tearing it out? I have seen liquid floor leveler but I have almost 1800 sq feet to cover. Can another layer of subfloor be laid on top of the first level? What is the easiest most affordable option for correcting my floor?
Isn't there the equivalent of the uk's House Builders Registration Council in the states.. Here in a new build there must be a 10 year guarantee against faulty materials or workmanship. Your builder was clearly at fault and guessing what it is going to cost to rectify I would consult a lawyer for possible action against the builder. He is prbaby covered by insurance anyway.
Q: who has good pricing for laminate wood flooring? How much and how much sq ft does it cover...thanks!
The prices will vary from about $1.00 to $6.50 per square foot. Best thing here is not to buy by price. The cheaper laminates don't last long. Look for a major brand name and buy laminate that has at least a 20 year guarantee. As far as how many square feet a box covers that will vary also. You just have to read the box to find out. NOTE: it is best to remove the baseboards before putting the floor down. It is cheaper than adding 1/4 round molding to cover the gap near the walls. Also: if you want the flooring to look professional cut the casement molding on the door frames about 1/4. That will allow the flooring to slip under the door frame hiding the gap there.
Q: Before the exchange of space to see when people see the floor with a very nice wall, do not know how to do it. With the glue also rafting to destroy the more slander scraper Xi Shan is to do keel? Do you know? More
More secure approach is to fix the main keel on the wall and then the floor fixed in the primary and secondary keel, so that the safety factor and environmental factors are better than the adhesive
Q: i live in a first floor new build flat which has concrete floors with wood joists upon it for the floor itself, i wish to install a new aquarium which will weigh roughly 500kg(0.5ton) i already have a 260kg aquarium which i intend to replace with the new 500kg one.It will be placed in the existing space as the old one. I need professional advice after trying engineer forums with no reply. So my question is ? will my floor be safe to hold this weight ?
In my opinion you would be ok if you set the tank evenly spaced over the floor joists. The floor joists rest on top of the cement. Cement can handle quite a load of weight but this depends on the thickness as well. Good luck in locating the floor joists.
Q: I intend on putting vinyl flooring over top.Plywood or leveler?
u don't need any plywood because u can laid the vinyl over concrete leveler is only as the name said ,to level the floor en case of ,of course ,un-level floor good luck my friend
Q: House decoration brush or paint the first floor when the first floor?
First floor tiles after brush wall paint
Q: We are planning to build a double storey house with my wife of 6 years and we have been wondering as to how the floor of the upper level is made and supported. will greatly appreciate any help in understanding how it is made. Is it not expensive?
browse around at house building plans and you'll see that once the foundation is laid in place the the walls framed, the carpenters put load-bearing beams here and there which support not only the weight of the second floor, but the weight of the roof also. it's basic engineering. then the walls of the top level are framed in exactly like the lower level, the trusses laid across the skeleton, and construction of a roof begins. You will have so much fun watching the process.
