Maintainance guide:

Make sure that you regulaly clean the wood floors in order to prevent dust accumulation. We recommand to clean a small part

of stains as a testing ground to prevent too much chromatic aberration.

Dust and stain— use a hard brush dipped in warm soapy water to remove it.

Mildew— scrub with ordinary wood mode class agents, or bleach to rinse or wipe it directly.

Chalk stains—In addition to the while chalk, other colors can not be removed, you can use bleaching agent with hot soapy

water to wash it.

Ice or snow—Apply calcium chloride or rock salt, it can melt ice or snow, then use hot soapy water to wash it.

Stain soil and dirts— Apply detergent, which contains oxalic acid or phosphoric acid. Whiping the stain for 10-15 mins.

Greasy and oil-based stains—immediately use household cleaning products with hot soapy water to wash it.

Juice and wine stains—Mixed the bleach stain agent and hot soapy water to dilute the stain and wipe.

If it's thinsetted directly to a concrete slab, then it's one or two tiles at a time, with thinset and some grout still stuck to the slab, so back over again to shave that off, maybe three days of messy, dusty work to get a clean floor - and watch out for sharp edges. Using a rental Bosch demolition hammer will get it done, coming in at a low angle. And gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, dust-control plastic sheeting, and covering HVAC vents. One of the next projects here will be peeling the tile off the kitchen floor, previously installed by the former owner directly on the plywood sub-floor, estimated removal time around two hours. What we do is use a marble polish that looks somewhat like wet sand. We mix the polish with some water, put it on the floor, and use a low/medium speed floor buffer with a medium pad to polish the floor. We then squeegee most of the polish up and use a wet vacuum to get the rest. Next, we mop the floor (alot!) to get the left over polish. Lastly, (after the floor is dry) we use a high speed buffer with a light or medium pad to shine it up. Talk to the person you rent the polisher from, and be sure to read and follow the directions on the polish. It can be a lot of work (particularily prep work, such as moving furniture, taping/covering carpets, etc.) but the reward is totally worth it. Good luck!

Q: Help? I have just moved into a realtivly new 4 bed house @ 9 years old. The main bedroom floor is very very creaky more so than i remember when we went to view. The main bedroom is the worst. My best guss is there is about 5mm gap between the tongue and grove floor boards and the joists in this room.My sons bedrooms are ok. Is there any fix for this? I was told cutting the floor up was an option but seems a bit extreme .Any advice most welcome... Why?We bought real hardwood and I'm starting to think it may have been a bad choice because I'm worried about our furniture moving and scratching it.: There is good wood flooring and the bad stuff. The bad stuff is the 1/4 wood veneer you get maybe one sanding out of it. The good stuff is 3/4 wood through and through. If I had a choice between the wanna be wood flooring and laminate I would choose the laminate. But nothing is better then a real wood floor.

I ruin some planks because I tried to glue it. Anyway I would like to hire someone to do it, if not how can I do it myself. I ripped 2 x 4's at an attitude to create 6' long shims, so the shims have been 2 (one million-one million/2) extensive x 3/4 to feathering out to no longer something x 6' long . We had bumped off the previous carpet so all we had became into the unique floor sheathing. In a year or two you'll have tiles popping off of the floor, from the poor quality of self sticking adhesive they use on those tiles. Take 10 minutes and look into VCT installation, drawing your square lines, etc. Go to Lowe's or something, get 1 or 2 small pales of pressure sensitive tile glue (buy extra, take one back later), a paint roller, and a cheap 3/8 nap roller cover and a cheap pole. Next step....Get your floor prepped, and swept up well, chaulk lines drawn in with pencil, find your starting point... now read the instructions on the glue(this is important), and then you can paint the floor with the glue. Not too much, not too little, but evenly. And don't make your tile starting point inaccessible after the gluing :) Glue half the room at a time if needed. This is going to keep your tiles from popping up in the future, and ALL of those self stick tiles do, IF you don't re-enforce the adhesion. (don't use a trowel to put the extra glue on, you will see the fingers of the glue through the thin tile. the paint roller keeps everything smooth) (guys like rob want you to buy a new floor every two years :) )

Once the glue is removed wash the area's with a mild detergent and rinse with clean water. Use a white cloth when wiping away the adhesive. Colored terry towels could bleed the dye using mineral spirit and/or paint thinner and could possibly ruin the floor.
