- Low iron level can causes Iron-deficiency Anemia. The causes of low iron level in the blood are 1)blood loss:when we lose blood we can lose iron via it.In women, low iron levels may be due to blood loss from long or heavy menstrual periods or bleeding fibroids in the uterus. Blood loss that occurs during childbirth is another cause for low iron levels in women. Internal bleeding (bleeding inside the body) also may lead to iron-deficiency anemia. This type of blood loss isn’t always obvious, and it may occur slowly. Some causes of internal bleeding are: A bleeding ulcer, colon polyp, or colon cancer Regular use of aspirin or other pain medicines, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (for example, ibuprofen and naproxen) Urinary tract bleeding Blood loss from severe injuries, surgery, or frequent blood drawings also can cause iron-deficiency anemia. 2)poor diet:The best sources of iron are meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and iron-fortified foods (foods that have iron added). If you don’t eat these foods regularly, or if you don’t take an iron supplement, you’re more likely to get iron-deficiency anemia. Vegetarian diets can provide enough iron if the right foods are eaten. For example, good nonmeat sources of iron include spinach and other dark green leafy vegetables, certain types of beans, dried fruits, and iron-fortified breads and cereals. During some stages of life, such as pregnancy and childhood, it may be hard to get enough iron in your diet. This is because your need for iron increases during these times of growth and development. 3)Inability to absorb enough iron:Even if there's enough iron in your diet, your body may not be able to absorb it. This may be due to intestinal surgery or diseases of the intestine, such as Crohn’s disease or celiac disease. - Q: Ok so, to my knowledge, plants contain non-heme iron, which is hard for the body to absorb. However, vit c helps with the absorption (some say, the combination makes for even better absorption than heme iron) so I was thinking about kale because its a major part a my daily diet, and I thought great, it has both vit c and iron!.until I later read that calcium (which kale is loaded with) can interfere with the absorption of non-heme iron so would the calcium void the benefits from the vit c/iron combo?
- According to the AJCN, it does. They recommend you wait two hours after eating an iron rich meal to eat a high calcium food. See link. Good catch on your part, BTW. That's something most of us never think about.

- I take Feosol iron tablets because of my low iron and they work great. They are not fake. raisens, nuts, endive, dark green veggies are usually high in iron.

- Nope, I think they're both the same 15-20 dollars is a good flat iron, i bought one about a year ago, marked professional and it sucked. then about 3 months ago, i bought a new one. Just a Conair flat iron. Not marked professional, and it works like a charm. as long as you pay about 15 or 20 for it, i can almost garuntee it will be great for you (L)

- lat ironing is WORSE as the heat is in direct contact with the hair. With a blow dryer, you can control how close the heat is to the hair, plus the level of heat. BOTH are damaging, but no question flat ironing is worse. Best regards!
