Q: Where did people who worked with iron get the iron from to make chain and nails? And how do the workers get the iron out of the ore?
Iron ore is basically iron oxide,Fe2O3. Coke(coal, not the carbonated drink.:D) is used as a reducer to remove the oxygen. C+O2CO2 CO2+C2CO Fe2O3+3CO2Fe+3CO2 And now you have your iron,Fe without the oxygen!
Q: this may be a weird question, but my period really smells like iron or metal. what does this mean?
A major component of blood is iron and that's probably where the smell is coming from. Might be good to have your iron levels checked during your next physical, just to be safe.
Q: I was taking iron supplements but I was afraid that I was getting far too much iron which I know isn‘t good either. However, I‘m afraid now that I am lacking iron, I don‘t feel symptoms or anything but I stupidly forgot to eat plenty of iron-rich foods. I think I‘m okay, but I was just wondering if I should take supplements again, and if so how often, etc? Oh, and I‘m 17 and a vegetarian but doing my research into becoming vegan (how I came across my lack of iron-rich foods, haha)Thanks in advance. :)
It really depends if you're male or female. If you are female you should, anemia is the medical term for lack of iron in your blood. Iron levels are lowered faster whenever you lose any blood or when you build a lot of muscle, some signs are cold fingers and toes and drowsiness. You could always take an iron supp. every two days if you want, it couldn't hurt. I eat a lot of iron rich foods and take a supp. so I doubt you will OD any time soon. You could ask your doctor to check your iron level, its a simple test and ask them. good luck
Q: i would want to know where they discovered iron and what year.
There's so much iron on this planet they didn't discover it, they stumbled over it. Stumbled over it so many times it was inevitable they'd eventually notice it. Nobody knows who the first person to notice it was, but it's thought to have been a tribe, rather than a single individual. The name of the tribe can't be pronounced nor spelled in English, so nobody knows what it was. There was no point in memorizing it because they couldn't pronounce it to one another and ask it of students on tests. What's a lot more interesting is how the Chinese almost certainly 'discovered' carbon steel when a slave fell into the vat of molten ore and it was concluded by observation and testing that a human body in the mix made a far better alloy for weapons than iron without a human body incinerated in it. It worked and became the earliest tried and true method. Great illustration of assuming too much with too little data.
Q: food that contains iron
top 10 iron rich foods *Red meat *Egg yolks *Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards) *Dried fruit (prunes, raisins) *Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels) *Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops) *Turkey or chicken giblets *Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans *Liver *Artichokes i hope this helped:)
Q: I am borderline-anemic, so my iron is barely at a healthy level. I have been taking vitamins to boost my iron, but no such luck. My question is, what types of food are iron-rich? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. THANKS!
To boost the amount of iron in your diet, try these foods: * Red meat * Egg yolks * Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards) * Dried fruit (prunes, raisins) * Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels) * Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops) * Turkey or chicken giblets * Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans * Liver * Artichokes Also consume lots of Vitamin C so your body can better absorb the Iron, take Iron supplements (according to directions, you can be poisoned if you take too much) and cook your food in a cast iron pan.(which has other benefits like being non-stick, lasting forever and holding heat evenly)
Q: In my experiment, I ignited the iron before placing it in a jar containing oxygen. The iron had a reaction with the oxygen and there was no more iron left. What happened? Could you add more detail to the outcome of this reaction?
Iron and oxygen produce rust or Iron oxide when they are joined. However, it is possible that you burned the iron, as oxygen is highly flammable.
Q: I want to use an iron-on transfer, but I don‘t know how to use an iron. It says to use a dry iron on cotton settings, but my cotton setting uses steam. Please don‘t chide me or make fun of me for not knowing how to use an iron; I‘m just looking for answers. I don‘t want to ruin my new pillowcase.
Use the other tips to find out about the steam. Use firm pressure on to the pillow case and keep the iron moving to prevent burning. Use circles if possible.
Q: during a period or implantation bleeding, if you pass some small clots, is that due to having low iron?? if not, what are clots and why do some poeple pass them while bleeding??
idk im anemic i dont know what a clot is what is it?
Q: When people say that certain foods are rich in iron or talk about iron in the blood, is it actually microscopic deposits of real iron that they are talking about. This is probably a stupid question, but any input is appreciated. Thanks folks :D
Kind of. The iron that is in our blood is trapped within a molecule called hemoglobin, in a complex part of the molecule called a heme group. This iron helps the hemoglobin bind to and carry oxygen from the lungs to the cells of our body. That iron is also the reason that blood turns brown as it dries - the iron in the hemoglobin rusts. But as for whether you just have free-flowing iron filings in your bloodstream? Nope.
