Q: Spinach has calcium, iron, and vitamin CCalcium tends to inhibit iron absorptionVitamin C tends to enhance iron absorption. What is the net effect?Same think with kale
No, spinach is not a good source of iron or calcium. It's a high oxalate food. Oxalate's inhibit your body's ability to absorb and use vitamins and minerals. Kale is a low oxalate food. So it should be a better source. Researchers say vegetarians need to eat about twice as much iron as meat eaters.so vegans need to get considerably more than that. See link.
Q: Hi, I have always been a big fan of Iron man and Robert Downey Jr ever since the first Iron Man movie came out. Recently I have read rumours that Tony Stark will be replaced by some one else soon, and that it is almost like Batman or James Bond where the people keep changing.Do you think it is an good idea if they replace Robert Downey Jr in Iron man??I have always seen Iron man as Tony Stark and I don‘t think it would suit it if someone other was playing the role of Iron Man.What are your opinions on the future of Iron man?
There will be no Iron Man 4 for a long time yet. He'll just cameo in Marvel films from now on like Bruce Banner did in Iron Man 3 and Captain America did in Thor: The Dark World until Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out in 2015. I think that the Iron Man/Tony Stark role was made for RDJ and RDJ was made for it, but it could be possible to replace him as Iron Man. I suppose if RDJ felt like he didn't want to play the part any more they could kill him off in Avengers:Age of Ultron.
Q: How do you make iron on decals? Is there a way?
As someone as already mentioned Avery makes iron on decals for t-shirts. You can find them at Walmart, Office Max, etc. Here are a couple of things to remember, you can make designs or use photos to use in the iron on. I use Picture It, although just about any program will work, Make sure you invert the image so that it looks backwards that way it will be correct on the shirt. It's a good idea to print the image on regular paper to make sure it's the way you want it and you don't waste a decal sheet. One other thing, decals on white t-shirts will have rectangular shape and it's pretty noticable on white. Other colors don't show this as much. I think that light gray is the best to put most decals on.
Q: what was the first form of iron known to man
The iron that is dug out of the ground that they made their tools and weapons out off.
Q: I heard that children have OD‘d and died by taking just 2 or 3 iron pills. How many mg of iron will kill an adult?
Normally a vitamin wouldn't kill anyone from taking too much. It may make them somewhat sick feeling, but not kill them. Usually your body will ingest the amount that it needs and then just get rid of any excess. Too much iron could cause serious constipation though
Q: Please HelpMy mom is iron deficient. She can never seem to get enough iron. Her diet good. She takes iron, and its really nasty stuff so If anyone has any idea why she might be iron deficient please tell me.Is it possible its because of other herbs and stuff she takes? She has been to a doctor but they only have quick fixes like taking a ton of iron when the problem is her body not absorbing iron or something.(FYI) Shes 45, not overweight, and lives an active lifestyle, and in general is healthy.
Deficiencies can be caused by chronic bleeding or malabsorption. In the case of your mom, she seems to have an issue of malabsorption. The short answer to your question is that we don't know. We don't know why she can't absorb iron. Indeed, one in ten pre-menopausal women in the United States has deficiency of this mineral. Some tips: - Dietary iron comes in two distinct forms: heme iron and nonheme iron. Heme iron is found mainly in animal products and is absorbed much more effectively than nonheme irons, which is found in grains and plants. So, she might want to eat more iron found in animal products. - Cooking with a black iron skillet can be a valuable source of contaminant iron (good iron). It can increase the iron content of a meal from anywhere between 30% to 100%. - There are other nutrients that can influence the amount of iron she absorbs. Calcium, zinc, magnesium and phosphorus can reduce the absorption of iron. Tannic acids is found in coffee and tea, and it also decreases absorption, so much that if you drink coffee or tea around an hour before or after a meal, you can reduce your absorption by as much as 40%.
