- Q:We have a Dyson that doesn't have a bag but 3 filters and we are starting to get many carpet beetles. We already had catiplillers and silversharks but these carpet beetle larva come in numbers! If I vacuum the rooms will I just be housing these bugs inside the vacuum and spreading them more to the other rooms?
- just clean it out, but your better off doing it with a wet and dry vac, one that you wont keep in the house
- Q:Have any of you had a newer Kirby vacuum cleaner (the one the representatives say cleans all the way to the bare floor) and could you compare it's performance to other quot;storebrands? I'm not really interested in value (I know they are terribly expensive) but want to know if they really do clean as advertised. I moved into a new house with some dirty carpets and a friend of mine offered to let me borrow her Kirby vacuum cleaner with built in carpet shampooer and I want to know how well it will clean. Is the shampooer equal to one I could rent at Wal-Mart or another store? Thanks for the help!
- I have a Kirby that is 18 months old and a Dyson that is about 2 years old. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats that shed like crazy. I use the Dyson first (which doesn't clog) which does a great job picking up the hair and then deep clean with the Kirby. I have bad allergies, and using the vacuums this way, I save a fortune on bags for the Kirby and get up far more dust mite droppings than I would otherwise. I thought the Kirby did a pretty good job with its dry foam carpet cleaner, but I also use steam and chemicals for some areas.
- Q:My vacuum cleaner makes my house smell every time I use it. Its a brand new vacuum. I've tried vacuuming up baking soda but that didn't work. Please help.
- Knowing the type of smell would help. Also is it an upright? Does it have a hose? If it isn't mechanical, belt, beater brush. Could there be something caught along the way?? Food or? Lay the vacuum flat if it's an upright release handle and check for a blockage. Mine has a hose that it goes through first. I use a broom stick if something gets stuck. You can also use another vacuum (shop vac is great). If it's not that...change the bag, vacuum and change again. I also toss potpourri on the floor to make the house smell good. They also sell tablets that you can buy. If it's brand new I would also be looking at returning it for an unstinky one~~~
- Q:...what would you do?
- Ask if I came at a bad time. Give you the phone number for my company so you can call about a vacuum yourself at a more convenient time. And then I'd run away!!!!
- Q:My vacuum cleaner has recently lost all suction. I've cleaned out the filters, and made sure the tubes aren't clogged with gunk, and everything is pretty clear. Any other suggestions? I'd rather try to fix it then buy yet another new vacuum.
- If you have done all the checks to make sure there isn't a blockage then it seems you have a major problem. Most vacuum cleaners have a propeller (fan blade) that directs the air in the proper direction to effect suction. These propellers are usually made from plastic which over time will break especially when struck by a hard object that has entered the vacuum. It may be that yours is broken. If the vacuum is expensive it may be worth your money to have it repaired. If not, then toss it and buy another.
- Q:I have a memory foam mattress topper that was vacuum packed in its original box, and when I took it out originally, it expanded to many, many times its original vacuum packed size. I live far away and need to ship it to myself now, but now that it's not vacuum packed and shrunk, I can't get it much smaller than the largest of my suitcases. Is there any place that I can go to get it industrially shrink wrapped or vacuum packed (preferably in the DFW area) so that I can get it down to at least a fraction of its original size? The home vacuum sealers won't do the trick; this mattress pad is much too strong and large for what they are intended to do. I've tried and nothing works, I'm thinking only an industrial stength vacuum packer will work.
- You might try calling some cleaners. They vacuum seal wedding dresses for storage (they may ship them out for that). You may be able to find out from them. You may want to also try packing and shipping stores. Good luck ------ I live in Allen (DFW area)
- Q:My Bissell finally died. I used to love Bissell but that was the worst vacuum I had ever bought. I am looking at canister vacuums now. I see the Kenmore has a high rating as well as the Electrolux and the Miele. I want something that will last and has low noise and cleans carpets wonderfully. Any knowledgeable vacuumers out there?
- I likewise strongly prefer the upright vacuums rather than the canister vacuums. Much-much easier to use -- rather than having to pull a canister all over the place and try not to hit your furniture. Insofar as brands are concerned, I have 2 Dysons right now ... one for upstairs and one for downstairs. They are absolutely the best vacuum cleaners I have ever had. Have had them for about 3+ years now, and if something goes wrong with them, I would buy Dyson again.
- Q:I've tried various vacuums through the years but none seem to do well on the edges of the carpet. Anyone tried a really good one for that?
- All around, Hoover and Electrolux make about the best vacuum cleaners.
- Q:Do you like the way it cleans? Will they work well on tiled floors?
- Okay for light, daily cleaning. You will definitely want a traditional model for regular vacuuming.
- Q:Your Open QuestionShow me another ? Professional House Cleaners only Please answer question about Commercial Vacuum cleaners?I have a house cleaning business, we clean 2 homes a day and after buying 14 vacuum cleaners in the past 2 years I am done with spending money on vacuums that don't hold up or are 2 heavy or have so many filters to clean that you spend your evenings doing that. Does anyone have any suggestions on what vacuum we should buy? Just like you the house's we clean have an array of flooring, wood, tile, oriental rugs, carpet. Please help with your experience Thanks!!
- I have had the same issues time and time again, either too heavy, won't fit under furniture, hoses tear, too may filters and like you tired of replacing them. I purchased a Dyson about a year ago and it has not lost suction yet. I use it everyday it only needs one filter and I wash it out as directed which is perfect for me. The extension pole on it is great too for getting dusty spots and spiderwebs. I comes with a lot of different attachments so i can manage multiple surfaces. I will never buy another vacuum brand.
