Q: which upright is best out of the department store brands? (Oreck, bissell, dyson, eureka, etc?) Recommendations should be for less than $500.
My all time favorite was a canister type called Rainbow. It used water for the filter and far surpassed all other brands. I could pick up water too which was great for an emergency spot cleaning. The filter was reasonable ;-) and it's design far superior as no contaminants were redeposited in the air like others. I like bissel and eurika and any unit that has a good hose for reaching along the baseboards and drapes, good filtration and maneuverability.
Q: We must have had 10 vacuums in the past 5 years. We have been buying bagless upright vacuum cleaners in the $80-$150 range. We run a playgroup from our house so we vacuum alot!! At least 3 times a day. These cheap cleaners just don't last. The loose suction very quickly and eventually just break. So we have decided to invest in a better quality one. Any suggestions of a good quality vacuum cleaner that will last and do a really good job time after time. We don't really care about bag/bagless or upright/canister. We just want something that works well and will last. We are looking in the $400 max price range. So far we have been looking at Dyson, Oreck and Electrolux. Please help!!!!
Dyson - the best vacuum cleaner! If you're going to pay that much, make it worth it. Plus I'd suggest you take a look at the 'steam mop' (which can be used on carpet stains). I've NEVER ever taken to infomercials, but it looks really cool! I think it would be great for your playgroup because the kids won't be rolling around in chemicals. Anyway, make sure to check the warranties on all the vacuum cleaners and possibly ask for a trial in-store if they allow you.
Q: At what point in history did vacuum cleaners become an appliance present in every household?
Something like 1949. It was being used before that. It took some time to accepted ans affordable.I don't my mother had one until 1959 ? Long time ago.
Q: my floor tool is broken and i want to buy a new one. can i just buy anything and will it fit universally ? i kno its an irrelevant category but most common people would know this yes or no answer to a common household appliance.. thanks
No necessarily, many differences.....!!
Q: I am in a market for a new vacuum cleaner. I have selected two models and there are two main differences between them: price and HEPA filtration. One with sealed HEPA costs $200 more than the one using HEPA 12 filtration. We have two dogs and no one in our family suffers from allergies. Would sealed HEPA filtration justify spending $200 more on a vacuum? Thanks.
Well the sealed would keep in more allergens and dust. The non sealed would would suck in allergens but spit them back into the air or at least most of them. I would recommend checking with people you know that you would consider inviting into your house and ask them if they are allergic to dust or allergens. Now i would recommend the shark navigator to you because it costs just under 200 dollars and has anti allergen technology to lock in dust and never loses suction. Now what they say on the commercials are true our family owns one and it is true. i have seen an improvement in my allergies. it also has free shipping and handling.so i would hope this helps.bye
Q: Why do dogs get so freaked out by vacuum cleaners?
Maybe he sees the vacuum cleaner suck up things and is scared. It might not necessarily be the sound.
Q: I am looking for a quality 120V compact vacuum cleaner max. $200. I need a good quality one with lots of suction power(the car socket vacuums are garbage). I have a Rainbow but hate dragging the $2000 machine around the garage and having to refill the water is a pain. I need a vacuum where the nozzles are plastic or non metal since I have 2 BMWs with leather seats and am very careful not to nick or scratch plastic or leather parts. I also want there to be different sized nozzles for the carpet, between the seats, leather seams, ect.. I heard Metropolitan is good. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.
I have a Shop-Vac Wall Mount between my two garage doors so it will clean both cars. It came with a wall bracket, about 12 ft of plastic hose attachments. Lots of power, good filter, 120 V. easy to clean-out with a large holding tank. I found it at a Menard's for less than $60. Works great!
Q: Im just moving into a new house, and I need a vacuum cleaner. I would like something under 300 US$ and that i can find in a store such as sears, wal-mart, etc. It also needs to be a canister vacuum cleaner. Please help me find the best deal.Thank you!
target and walmart both sell inexpensive vacuum cleaners. the only issue is they are usually feather weight and do not hold very much dirt so they must be emptied frequently. You can also check your local craigslist for used vacuum cleaners :)
Q: I am in China and don't have any carpet in my apartment (thank goodness!). I was thinking of getting a vacumn cleaner as it is aways so dusty but will this do more harm than good to my health in my apartment. Is it better just to sweep regularly and mop up the dust? Thanks !
Vacuum cleaners are intended for use on carpets but will work on wooden floors too. The advantage of vacuum cleaners is that the dust is sucked up into the machine's dust container and not distributed back into the air which happens when you sweep with a broom. I think vacuum cleaners are better for health when it comes to preventing dust in the air that you can breathe in.
Q: Which vacuum cleaner moves easier for a person in a wheelchair? Are there controls that you have to use your feet for? How do they work in small rooms?
The new dyson dc24 with the ball is super duper light weight and easy to push and turn. I don't know anything about a shark. The dyson is nice because the hose is so easy to pop out, and it has a handle so one could easily clean crevices and corners. The switches are on the main part of the vacuum, right below the handle and above the canister. It would work very well in a small room because it is a small vacuum.
