Q:.......towards vacuum cleaners and hair dryersWhat can I do!?!?I've had her for 2 years and I tried to rehome her a year ago because I moved to a place that didn't allow pets.Well the people brought her back so now I am having to keep her secret from my landlord.But she is aggressive towards vacuum cleaners and hair dryers now!!!She ripped our vacuum cleaner apart. Tore off the hoses and the filters. One day I was hair drying my hair and she came running into the bathroom and howling, she snatched the hair dryer from me and started biting and chomping it.She's never acted this way before, what can I do??She's not aggressive to animals and is very timid around people and other dogs. She's not food aggressive and she's very intelligent.But now we have to replace our vacuum and we have to lock her in the back bedroom when we are vacuuming and she will tear down the door and rip up the carpet trying to get to it. She acts this way even when the vacuum is not turned on so we have to lock it inside a closet.: I would crate her while I vacuum and dry my hair without paying attention to her until she learned nothing bad happened etc and also it means she just does not have the potential to do damage at the time.

Q:are all motors the same size in kenmore canister vacuums?: I would think not. Look at the specs for vacuums you might be interested in and compare the amps or watts or whatever electrical spec is in vogue this year for vacuum cleaners.

Q:I am lokoing for some suggestions on the best vacuums for a house with a dog that sheds CONSTANTLY. The fur keeps clogging my upright, so I think I am going to go with a canister vac, however, I do not want to spend a lot of money. Any thoughts.: Everyone's going to say get a DYSON.. Well, they are about $500 and I'm sure they are nice, but like you I don't have that to throw around.. Having said, consider taking your old vacuum for servicing.. It may only need an overall clean and check, belt replaced etc... Also, it may be good to take your dog to a groomer once a month and have him/her brushed throughly to prevent all the shedding... If you are set on getting a new vacuum I have an upright HOOVER SAVVY and I love it.. It's roughly $200 and I even vacuum my dog with the attachments I've had it for 4 yrs and it's been great. However, we did purchase the extended warranty for the extra $100 for 3 extra yrs.. That has been a lifesaver ! I've only had to replace my filter 2x ($40) each and the warranty has covered everything else.. I have my vacuum whether it needs it or not serviced at least 2x a yr... So, the warranty has paid for itself.... Good luck...

Q:Can you improve a vacuum cleaners suction (with tweeks) or filteration (by adding aditional filter)?: Well if you can you would probably be a pretty good engineer. I would keep any existing filters cleaned regularly and if you are using a bag They tend to have better air flow when first installed(empty). You didn't mention what type or for what purpose. If you are cleaning carpet you need agitation, air flow,and suction. Setting it too low would cut down on air flow. Too high would increase air flow but you would not get the suction down where you need it. You might get some better answers if you add details.
