- Q: My boyfriend and I moved into an apartment that has white carpets in both bedrooms. White very stained carpets...I've tried the 409 carpet stain remover on them, but it didn't seem to improve them at all. Does anyone have any recommendations for other products, or any quot;home-remediesquot; for ground in, old carpet stains?Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
- Home remedies don't work and 409 is designed to lighten stains, not remove them.
- Q: I have carpet in the backyard and my dogs have urinated on it badly an i was wondering if i put very little bleach in a spray bottle and sprayed it on the carpet would it change the color of the carpet?
- A really good disinfectant for cleaning is to put white vinegar in a spray bottle, and about 1/2 teaspoon of tea tree oil (this is sold anywhere medications are sold cheapest price is Walmart). That will disinfect the rugs and prevent them from being able to smell their spots again to repeatedly keep going on it. The stain however needs different handling. Saturate the stains with hydrogen peroxide mixed with a few drops of dish washing soap. After well saturated let it sit 1 hour. Then rinse. The stains will be gone. Then spray it with the first solution and you'll be fresh and clean again!
- Q: I have a smallish (3ft by 5ft) area rug that needs to be cleaned. It's not worth enough to pay a cleaner and I have hardwood floors so I'm not trying to rent a steam cleaner. I was thinking about using a clothes line between two trees and hosing it down real well with a pressurized garden hose... I have tried vacuuming and quot;beatingquot; the rug with a stick, but there is a dingy coloration that I think needs water/washing to get it looking nice. I wasn't going to use any detergents, just water and a scrub brush then let it air dry for a day or so. Does this seem like at least a semi-good idea? I'll sooner throw the rug out and spend money on a new one than spend money cleaning this one. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

- Q: What kind of good pressing strip carpet and marble interface

- Q: I want to put a rug down in the middle of my living room that has laminate wood floor. I have a couple of larger dogs that tend to run aound on occasion. The current rug has a smooth back and slides when they skid to a stop on it. The replacements that I've looked at all have the jute back and I'm concerned that when they cause this type to slide across the floor, over time it will behave like sandpaper and scuff the floor. I know I can put a rubber anti slip pad on the back to prevent some of it, but won't it still eventually scuff the wood laminate over time around the edges?

- Q: I'm getting new carpets, and need to get rid of my old one, what tools do I need, also, what do I with the nails and do I need to rip up all the carpet, even when the carpet meets the door or the edges of a wall?
- Yes, if you're going to lay new carpet the floor should be cleared of everything from wall to wall. A utility knife works good for cutting it but make sure it's sharp. A hammer and a small crowbar should get the nails out. If you can't get a nail out just pound it into the floor so it doesn't stick up. Or try breaking the head off then take a punch and pound it into the floor. They have a way of working themselves back up with time. Before you lay the new carpet, sweep and mop the floor so you know it's nice and clean.
- Q: soap or a regular carpet cleaner
- a regular carpet cleaner or the red juice that my baby nephew spilled on my new white carpet. but a regular carpet cleaner got it out well almost
