- Q: My rug has been shedding and I have vacuumed it 100's of times and steam cleaned it. Is there anything I can do to stop the shedding? It is positively driving me CRAZY!! Any suggestions PLEASE
- sounds like a bad buy have you tried taking it outside and combing it with a fine comb? Then follow up with a hoover. If this doesn't work......
- Q: Hey, am relocating and I need some advice about decorating my living room.the walls are white and the furniture is dark brown so which color rug or carpet/curtains will match perfectly!! please help as i cant find any decent websites!!!
- Spruce the room up by adding some bright colors to the rug and curtains (blues, greens, etc) since the walls are white. The carpet should be kept light, since the furniture is dark. A room should always have a nice balance to it. Hope this helps and good luck =)
- Q: We are trying to get the carpet in one of our bedrooms in our house replaced, but we are on a tight budget. We went to home depot and they said they would have to charge us around $900 to replace all the carpet padding and install the new carpet. we said that we would leave the same padding (to save money), but the woman told us that it is an ohio state law that carpet companies MUST replace the padding if they are going to replace the carpet too. another company we called said this isn't true. was the lady at home depot just trying to get more money out of us, or is there really a carpet padding law? I cant seem to find anything about it. any help is appreciated.
- It isnt the cleaning agent that stays in your carpet it is the water you put it in it that stays in it. Is almost impossible to remove all water from the carpet and pad. However I used to sell cleaners and the one way that I found that was very good and didnt leave any residue or moisture behind is use a dry foam cleaner the water you use will mix with the cleaner and make a foam that is dry like soap bubbles. After you are done cleaning with it you can usually just vaccuum it and you are done. Some foam cleaning systems usually have a softening agent as well which is good for your carpets fibers as well. Hope htis helps. Definately wouldnt do steam cleaning on carpets though thats for sure.
- Q: It started out as a small black printer ink on the carpet. I tried to use WD40, then Jax, now it looks like a giant orange/light black circle! How can I get rid of this? PLEASE HELP ME!
- do no longer understand what sort of ink. If ball factor ink attempt spraying hairspray on it and blot sprayed section with sparkling fabric. Take care to no longer smudge or unfold stain. try hidden part of carpet to comprehend if colour quickly earlier doing any stain elimination. Oxyclean is notably solid too reckoning on the kind of ink. the kind of ink might possibly dictate what you used to get rid of it besides as what your carpet is made up of. i might evaluate sort of ink and what the carpet fiber is and then act hence. Hair spray works great on outfits it relatively is polyester and or mixed with cotton. proceed with warning.
- Q: I have a Nepalese oriental rug. I assume its wool (thought it may have man made fibres in it).I've cleaned various spills with water over the years - with no probs. It really needs a clean.. can I clean it with cold water? Is this dangerous?I'd like to just take it out and wash it down with a hose... Thanks
- You can hose it down but the problem is that it will be sopping wet so it will take forever to dry. Also, professional rug cleaning people who use this method have a way of extracting the water out (vacuum table) so that the colors don't run from being wet too long. Since you don't have the material, I would suggest a carpet shampooer (injection/extraction) or if not, have a wet dry vac handy to suck up the maximum amount of water from the rug and be able to hang it over a bar in a very well ventilated area. You will have to turn it once every few hours. The biggest risk is that the colors run after X time being wet.
- Q: Will it look ok if I put a cream rug over a cream (a bit darker cream) carpet? :-/
- Hi Laly, my own Trial and Error is where my answer comes from. I had tan carpeting in the living room and added an off white area area rug. I did have it placed in front of the larger sofa. It did not visually work for me. I had no coffee table or anything that held it down again, visually speaking. I would suggest that you throw a sheet folded to the approx size of the area rug similar in color on the floor prior to making a purchase. And see what your opinion of it is. It does work visually if you have a coffee table, this will hold down the lighter rug when viewing your room. Happy decorating!
- Q: What do national wool and new wool mean?
- demestic wool: Domestic wool : Imported
- Q: Can anyone give me some tips on how to get chocolate out of a beige carpet? I found a mysterious chocolate trail(most likely melty chocolate chips or Hershey's kisses) across my bedroom carpet. I don't really know how it got there-.-While we're on the subject...I also have a rather large shampoo stain(I didn't know shampoo STAINED carpet...but apparently it does?) and a some green nail polish spots on my floor. I know...I don't take very good care of my carpetgt;.lt;But it would be nice to have my floor looking a little fresher...Thanks in advance:)
- Treating any carpet stain depends on what your carpet is made of. If it's wool or another natural fiber, it will be harder to treat these stains. If it's synthetic (most wall-to-wall carpet falls into this category), you may have an easier time. A diluted solution of brake cleaner, which contains the same chemicals that professional dry cleaning incorporates, will work to remove most food stains. This is a nasty chemical, and you have to consider whether you want the fumes in your house -- but it will do the job better than off-the-shelf carpet cleaning products. Whatever solvent you try, the method is to blot up as much of the stain as you can, wet it (with water or a cleaning solution), and blot some more. Don't rub, as this will abrade the carpet fibers and work the stain in deeper. I would try plain water on the shampoo stain before anything else. For the nail polish on the floor -- depends on what kind of floor surface you are talking about. You might try applying a non-acetone nail polish remover *just* to the polish spot, with a Q-tip. Avoid using an acetone-based remover (will damage almost any surface). If your floor is vinyl or laminate (engineered faux wood), you may have better luck trying to gently scrape it off with a table knife. Finally, if you have wall-to-wall carpeting, a professional carpet steaming service is a pretty good buy for the kind of results you get (and the work you save yourself). Consider spending a couple hundred bucks and skipping all the work. Good luck!
- Q: How often do you vacuum your rugs? I do it about once a week and occasionally put down freshner on the carpet and then vacuum it a few minutes later
- since i have two cats and one of them sheds like crazy i vacuum about every other day....i usually put down the powder too...it makes the odors go away
- Q: If you have an apartment with Pergo or hardwood floors in an older building that doesn't have a lot of insulation will rugs, curtains and the like help with reducing noise transmission to other units?
- I imagine the carpets would help reduce echo, so would lots of things in the room. Heat would help as well. You can't really reduce the sound and could probably only make a small effect after the carpet and curtain way
