Q: can someone give me an estimate on replacing carpet with wood 10ft by 10ft =100sq.ft.: Ripping out the old carpet will cost less than 50$ if its a standard pad/carpet combo. Often for a job that size you can get an installer to toss that in as part of the job but don t assume so. Easy enough to do yourself . Carpet disposal is always a problem too. Check on whats available in your area , through a disposal company , your local landfill or recycling center. Wood installation does go from 3/ 3.5$ a s/f depending on the rate in your area. As far as the wood itself, it can go from 3 $ a s/f for basic 2 1/4 oak to as high as 20 $ a s/f for exotic woods. So your in the ball park or 7$ a s/f ( and up) ..This won t include any unseen floor prep. This is always a good idea to pull the carpet up yourself and inspect the floor.
