Q: i want technical names of the electrical equipments rheostat, wire wound
rheostat: rheostat wire: wire wound: ? wound noun 1 a chest wound injury, lesion, cut, gash, laceration, tear, slash; graze, scratch, abrasion; bruise, contusion; Medicine trauma. .
Q: How can I stop my cat from chewing wires? He does it all the time, and the wire he ends up being important.
I have a cat who is petrified of wires - she too chewed them when she was a kitten, and each time she did I would creep up on her and then shout 'bang!' really loud. She soon learned that chewing wires = scary loud noise and stopped. It does mean though, if ever there is a wire anywhere, now, she won't go anywhere near it. If there's one she doesn't know about and gets too close before suddenly noticing it, she shoots up into the air like a skyrocket......perhaps we went a bit overboard on the scaring her things when she chewed them, but we were more scared of her electrocuting herself than being afraid of a few wires! So, if you want him to stop, that's what you've got to do! To everyone saying spray water - did you not learn about water and electricity in school?!!!!
Q: I am connecting a humidstat to furnace. I would normally use furnace/thermostat wire for this purpose except that I need 8 conductors and the largest furnace/thermostat wire seems to be 5 conductors. I would like to use another 18guage 8 conductor wire but not sure if there are any specifications I need to ensure it meets before I can use it inside furnace cabinet.
Standard 18 gauge wire is all you need, they do make it in 8 and 10 conductor, it just takes a little calling around to supply houses to find it. There's is nothing special about the wire specs for thermostat wire as it relates to your furnace so long as you use 18 gauge standed or solid wire. The only exception for thermostat wire is when you get into commercial buildings with an open plenum return air system, any wire used in the plenum cavity must be plenum-rated, which is almost always much more expensive.
Q: What's the use of the live wire, neautral wire and earth wire in a plug? The purpose
Other guy is correct for the U.S., but from your wording, I think you live in the U.K. The live (hot) and neutral wires convey the power to the device or appliance, with the hot have a potential of 220-240 volts AC, with respect to the neutral, like the + and - terminals of a battery. The ground/earth connection is for safety, and no current flows in it under normal use. It is connected to any metal parts of an appliance. The neutral is connected to ground in the breaker box or somewhere in your basement or nearby. If there is a short in an appliance and a high voltage gets connected to a metal part, this could be a lethal hazard. But since the metal parts are connected to safety ground, it instead causes a circuit breaker to pop, disconnecting the voltage. .
Q: Besides the speaker wires, what do the remaining 5 colored wires stand for on a stock 03 Mitsubishi Galant radio?

Q: Found some electrical wiring resonably priced on craigslist but it says -----8 gauge (AWG), 3 wire, direct burry electrical cableDOES THAT MEAN ITS 3/0 WIRE? Because I need 3/0 wire direct burriedI am looking to buy some extra 3/0 wire and found some on craigslist for a reasonable price....
No, it's not 3/0. 3/0 and 8 gauge are both measures of the conductor size. a 3/0 wire has about 10 times the cross-section area that an 8 gauge wire has. So what you're looking at on CL isn't even in the neighborhood of what you need.
Q: Question:What is the point of new wires? Everyone keeps saying thicker wire. What does that thicker wire do? Does it carry a different force? I thought the ligature bands is what gives the wire the force? I'm kind of confused! Also, do you get a thicker wire everytime? Is this thicker wire visibly thicker and noticable?Does the thicker wire cause a drastic diff in pain?Thank you for your help and answering my question about my previous question.
No, you can't physically see the difference in the thicker wire, but you can feel the difference when they first put it in. It will feel kind of heavier and tighter. It won't last long though...maybe 2 or 3 days and you'll get used to it. No, you won't get a thicker wire at every visit.
Q: I need the designations for the wires so I can splice in an amp.
Speaker wires: left front: (+) tan (-) gray right front: (+) lt. green (-) dk. green left rear: (+) brown (-) yellow right rear: (+) dk. blue (-) lt. blue Accessory power at radio for amp turn-on: yellow (only in 2003 and older; should be located next to orange constant power wire)
Q: If I knew which wires went to trim, rpms, engine hours,ect... I could follow them. The engine wiring harnes is stil intact, but I dont know which wire goes to each no matter which end I look at. Like I said wiring is no problem, don't know motors.
get a repair manual.in the back it will give you the wiring diagram for everything on your car the color codes too. you will spend some time matching them up but at least you wilol know what is what
Q: I have a 1997 saturn sc2. In the trunk of my car there was a wire dangling down from the top when i bought it. Asked seller and he didnt know. It is not the trunk light wire or has to do with any of the tailights, blinkers, brake lights. It looks like a factory wire. It has a bunch of holes in the connector.
