You will need to have a 4-pin molex to SATA power cable connector and also a hard drive controller card with a SATA port on it for you to be able to connect the drive. If you don't have both of these, you won'e be able to hook up the drive at all.

What if I used a larger ground cable?: Using a larger ground should have no effect. A smaller ground could be okay but if the ground were to somehow burn from the current your amp will fry. You can 3 feet of 8ga ground for less than $10 why would you risk it.

A cable with 6 pin provides 75W power to the card. With the 75W available on the PCI-E x16 slot, that would be a 150W supply. 2 6 pins will up the available wattage to 225W. Cards that require a 6 pin and 8 pin are 300W cards. Your cable/PSU port is designed to provide any of those combinations of power to the videos card(s).
