Q: Office Chairs: I am looking good chair that is comfortable to sit in, will not hurt my back, easy to roll across my desk area. I have sat in the Herman Miller chair and really like them..don't think my boss will go for the $800+ price tag on it though. My desk is kind of low so my arm rest right now kind of get in the way. Q: Just wondering how to go about this. I have four table chairs that i would like to re stain. I tried just sanding it but the old varnish clogs the paper really fast. I tried paint stripper but when I go to remove it I always get tiny splashes that some how get onto my skin and burn like a mofo. I'm using gloves but some always gets on my face, not so good. Could I just soak the chairs in water that has a bit of paint stripper?: Do not soak the chairs in water, it would swell the wood and loosen the glue in the joints. What I suggest is that you get the citrus type of stripper that isn't caustic to your skin. Use the stripper as directed on the container then sand away any remaining marks until your chairs are bare and ready for a new application of finish. I've used the citrus stripper successfully several times. Just allow everything to dry well before you sand again. You'll have to be patient but you'll be pleased with the results. Q: Have you used one of those reclining booster feeding chairs rather then a regular high chair? Any recommendations? Do you wish you would have bought a regular high chair instead? Is it okay for my 4 month old?: We have a very small house (900 square foot mobile) all we use is the strap on the chair booster seat type high chairs, they take up so much less space, I have two different ones with trays and other one without trays and they all work great. The ones with the trays have seat beats in them so they would be fine for a baby who is sitting up well enough to be starting solids. If baby can't sit up in a regular non reclining seat then he/she is not ready for food yet. if you are looking for a way to include your younger baby in meal times but they are too little to sit in the high chair and start solids then what we did was just put the bumbo chair in the middle of the table. I know the instructions say not to put them on any raised surface, but she was only in it when there was at least 2 adults sitting right in front of her, there is no way she could have fallen.

We estimate that it is from the late 1800s or early 1900s, possibly older. Thank you!: That is not 200 years. And the value will depend a good deal on the maker. If it was from a small production craftsman it could be worth several hundred. If from a large furniture factory it could be worth firewood. Also if it has been refinished. That detracts from the value. But of course condition is a huge factor. Can you find any manufacturers name or other marking to authenticate the age? The style gives clues but some popular styles were and are produced for a long time.

Q: i have 5 captin chairs like theses heard they have some value on them so some1 plz help me out on any info u got: In the process of researching four, heavy, solid walnut, bentwood, captain's chairs that I rescued from a Winston-Salem, NC office that closed in 1990 after 50 years of operation, a reference Librarian named Katherine Arends found a small book in the Siler City Library in 2001 to help me with the company history. The book was called Boling: The Story of a Company and Family by John Harding (1979). According to this book the company started in 1901 as Siler City Bending Co. and made things like traces for carriage harnesses. On Jan 9, 1904, it became High Point Bending and Chair Company with founder Captain Malvola Jackson Boling. It was named High Point because of the heavy investment in the furniture industry from a nearby city of that name. In 1956 it became Boling Chair Company. In the year 2001 it was still in existance in Siler City and known as Boling Group. Further research has led me to believe that the chairs I have are probably from 1926 --- celebrating their 80th (deleted)day. They are in excellent condition and continue to be well-loved and appreciated for their comfort and many years of service.
