Q: I am getting married this October and I'm having my reception in a banquet hall...it's very nice and of course they provide white tableclothes for their round tables but their chairs are like an ugly pinkish color...I'm wanting to get some white chair covers to cover them up and make it look more elegant. The banquet hall recommended a place that they use and I guess the people come out and steam the covers on the chairs so they aren't wrinkled and they have a display out at the hotel we are having the reception at and they are really nice but they are $6 a chair cover and I'm having over 200 guests at my wedding and I don't want to be spending that kind of money on just chair covers. Just wanted to know if any of you have ever ordered chair covers online that you can rent? I found a website where you can rent them and they are only like $1 or $2 for each chair cover, but I hate to order them and they come and are are really wrinkled and don't even look nice...any of you done this?: Its a tough dilemma. I know that typical banquet chairs can be hideous and clash with decor. At the same time, I've attended beautiful weddings without chair covers. As a guest, sometimes you just don't notice those things. Does the banquet hall have pictures from other weddings so you can get an idea of how much the uncovered banquet chairs do or don't take away from the ambiance? Those chair covers are just so darn expensive. I think it would be a lot of undue stress to have to worry about ironing and placing 200 chair covers in the few days before the reception. If you HAVE to have the covers, call a couple of local competitor vendors and try to get a better deal. Maybe you can get the spandex chair covers (those don't have to be ironed right?) and offer to pick up, drop off and apply yourself, maybe they'll knock of some $.

Do you have good sewing skills now? You won't find any directions for that chair. You will find how to's to upholster, but not for any specific pieces of furniture. Try it, or hire a seamstress or upholsterer. Your choice.

Q: I am purchasing chair covers for my reception. My issue is to buy them only for head table and reserved tables or cover every chair. The chairs the hall have are plastic and better then metal, but I am unsure if I want to pay for all the chairs to be covered. Will it look funny if I do only a few tables to signify them as reserved?: Okay...first of all, why are you reserving seats at the reception? The place cards that are handed out will have table numbers (or names) on them and that is how people will find their places. There is no need to further restrict them and make them sit next to someone who they might not want to sit next to. If you feel that the plastic chairs are a little plain, then I would suggest renting chair covers for all of the chairs...don't waste your money and buy them because when you're done you'll be stuck with 100+ chair covers... If you still feel that certain people should stand out, then tie a sash around the back of the chairs, but make some a different color sash. You could also make cute name plates that go with your theme and drap them on the back of the special chairs...
