Q: Hi, I have installed a 200 amp service entrance. I am in the process of attaching it to the grounding rod. What size cable should I use? I was told that a size 8 wire is ok, as long as it is protected. However, I was also told that I should go with a size 4. Can I use the protected 8 or am I better off going with the 4? Are there any advantages of using one over the other? Thanks for your time,pb4sc
Hey Kate is right. Your inspector is the final say and some are picky. For 200 amp you should be using 3/0 copper and you would need #4 ground with that according to the NEC. But you didn't say what size your service conductors are. Ask your Inspector and get it right the first time.
Q: The new room wire soaked in the court to support the line
VVR cable for the polyacetylene insulation and external protective layer of soft copper cable, plus K (that is, KVVR) for the control cable.
Q: I have a two year old cat that I love to death but she is always chewing on wires (Her latest our new LCD TV Wire) . She has lots of different toys but she still goes back to the wires. It is getting real expensive and I don't know what to do any suggestion? Is this normal for a full grown cat?
I would wet a paper towel with something that doesn't taste good like lemon juice and coat the wire with it, not too much, just enough so when she bites it, she'll get a bitter taste and probably won't do it again. My cats have weird little quirks as well, in fact, I had this cat one time who loved to eat string, I mean she would actually ingest it. Cats are strange, you just have to be clever when it comes to deterring them from doing something. Also, you might be able to buy something at a pet store that will keep her from biting the wires, I believe its a spray that you put in the area you don't want the cat. Good luck!
Q: How to calculate the wattage wattage and power of the wire?
Better wire will be marked on the wire parameters, so that know what to buy the line
Q: I remember dialing a short 3 digit number to fix a pothole in my neighborhood (although I can't remember the number). I was wondering if there was another one I can call that could fix this buzzing' noise caused by an electrical wire by my house that's quite annoying and a bit skeptical whether I should be alarmed by it or not. Appreciate it. :)
In most cities it's 311. I believe it is in Los Angeles as well. However, the electrical lines are probably owned by your power company and my guess is that you'll have to contact them with any concerns you have or to get them fixed.
Q: Construction workers told me that double insulation is not good insulation, the choice of single-layer insulation is good. I feel double the skin should be safe it! They are not in order to save money so that Oh? More
(UPS power × power factor) / efficiency / 380/1.732 = UPS maximum input current, according to the maximum input current selection cable (according to the cable manufacturer's current meter selected)
Q: I had a small infestation of mice in my garage a few years back. I noticed a hole under the breaker box that looks like it was from the mice. Is it likely that they chewed on the wiring or was this just an entry point? How would I know without tearing out the drywall or pulling all new wiring?
Do Mice Eat Electrical Wires
Q: i have tail lights and a right hand turn signal, there is juice getting through the wires. but i have no brake lights. it is a 83 olds. where do i look, or how do i solve this?
bad connection,s or earth point,s at lamps
Q: I have two lights that are wired into one light switch. I would like advice on what would be the easiest way to separate them and put the second light onto it's own switch.
If Lediy99's condition does not exist you would have to run a new wire to one of the lights. There are also some electronic switching devices available that you may like to try instead of running new wire. You can buy a remote control switch (usually designed for and sold in the ceiling fan department). The switch device mounts underneath the light along with a receiver. A remote communicates with the switch device and turns the light on and off
Q: I want to have my house re-wired, how much is involved? How much does it typically cost? Some more info: my house was built in the 1950's. I know the fuse box was updated, but my boyfriend and I are renovating it. Some outlets don't work and that scares me a lot. I'm on a budget, so please let me know what you think it will cost, as well as whats involved. Thanks in adavance:)
It's a Big job. Get several estimates from electricians. Replace ALL wire, outlets (and add more), switches, etc. This may require holes in walls, etc but it will be worth it in the long run for convenience, safety, and resale value.
