- yes u can u can either do one of two things 1) use small self cutting screws to attach it...if you dont plan on taking it down for a long time and dant care about a few holes in it later or 2) they sell a small clip that attaches to the grid, it has a small threaded peice that will go into the track lighting and secures with a nut

- Q: Our bedroom has 4 recessed lights in the ceiling that form the perimeter of a 6x6 square. I would like to install a ceiling fan in the middle but it would require me to install a new wiring box. Is it possible to tap into the wiring my recessed lights run off of to run my ceiling fan? Or do i need to run all new wiring to my panel? Thanks in advance for your experiences and help.
- If you've never done electrical I would hire a pro. You need a switch for the fan and I am assuming that the fan will require more power than you have up there. How did you plan on supporting the electrical box the fan hangs from? Most suspended ceiling cannot support the weight and torque the fan produces. This means hanging from the ceiling which gets real tricky real fast. Plus you will need a line to the panel. Do you really want to do all this? The tools you will need probably will cost more than an electrician would charge. I have years of experience and because this involves so much work, I would probably opt for a day on the beach and let someone else sweat the details.
- Q: I am planning my basement remodel and love the idea of a tongue and groove look for the ceiling. Is it possible to use painted wall panels screwed into the ceiling beams? That way the mechanics of the house can still be accessed but I don't have an ugly drop ceiling.
- Yes, we did this in our basement. I would just caution, to try and find lighter tongue and groove. They also have dropped ceiling tiles now that you can attach directly to the ceiling without the metal grids. I saw one just recently at a hardware store (in Canada) that looked exactly like our tongue and groove wooden ceiling. GOOD LUCK>

- Do the drop ceiling last. Why? A drop ceiling has a pc. of steel molding called *Wall mold*, that goes around the entire perimeter of the room. This is for the ceiling tile to rest on against the wall. Walls are finished first and then this molding is installed which gives a nice clean finished look around the edges of the room. If you put it up first, it will not look professional, and you drywall or other wall material will cover up the wall mold around the edge. Plus - You will undoubtedly have damage to the ceiling panels and or the grid work caused by hitting it with other materials as you or others are working on the walls. Do any wall framing first-just rough framing. Then do a ceiling plan layout on paper to scale so you can see where you want the lighting in the grid ceiling. Now, run wiring in walls and ceilings. Now hang drywall. Tape and finish drywall - cleanup. Now run grid ceiling metal framework and install lights in ceiling. Now prime and paint drywall as you now have lights installed. Now install ceiling tiles and baseboard. This is how I would have it done on a project.

- Q: I'm looking to mount the two front speakers and center speaker of a 5.1 surround sound home theater system onto my ceiling. My only concern is that I have ceiling tiles in this room, which means that the tiles can move. Can I mount speakers onto ceiling tiles? - I have drilled ceramic tile many times using a carbide bit. To keep the bit in the right place while starting the hole, you simply take a pointed punch and hammer and tap a little chip in the tile surface. That will keep the point of the bit from wandering until you get started drilling By the way, the tiles were in place on a shower wall when I drilled them
