As you do that get the clicker and keep repeating. As you do this for a while, WITHOUT treats or clicker, he'll get used to it. OR make sure he gets full exercise and gets TIRED. - Sleeper sofas have come a long way and are not nearly as uncomfortable as they used to be. That said, generally speaking, a regular sofa is usually softer to sit on. Perhaps you can find a store that carries both and try sitting on them both to form an opinion. Also, do you think you'd use the sleeper function often? - It could be a spray that they use to keep the fabric fresh and to keep the damp out. I had it with mine and it faded away after a few weeks. Your sofa has probably been wrapped up for a while and thats why it needs a good airing. You could spray febreeze, it wont do it any harm.

- You have a real challenge, since the odor got into the foam of the cushions. I am providing a link to several methods that do work. My preference is to use vinegar-water. You can be sloppy with it, since you really need to get the solution into the foam.

Then the obvious: dirty litter box, new litter, fragranced litter (any change here could make your cat unhappy) new cat in the house a strange cat getting into your house and using the litter (your cat will not use it then) You also need to clean the sofa ASAP - either with vinegar and water or a special anti-pet furniture shampoo. If you do not get rid of the smell - cat will return to this place to do their business. Oh... DO NOT RUB your cats nose in it.....that just causes more problems of a different kind!
