- Q: What's the difference between an area rug and an oriental rug?
- an area rug is just that: ANY rug that is not laid down carpet, generally a rug that sits on top of another surface, often woods which shows around the edges. An oriental carpet is a very specific type of design. I would look at pictures as that is easier than trying to describe it. It is a type of area rug.
- Q: I need to patch a section of my carpet. The size I need to patch is 2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. I will be patching just a few inches from the wall/front door. Here's my questions:1. Will the patch job be noticeable at all or will it blend in to the other carpet? 2. Will the replaced carpet piece be loose or need stretched? 3. What if the carpet I am patching doesn't exactly match because my current carpet is used and the patch will be brand new? I've never done this before so any advice for a first timer would be awesome! Thanks!
- i saw this on TLC once. go into a closet you never use, or thats cluttered with junk. cut out that section however big you need it. make sure the piece of carpet you cut out of the closet fits perfect where the patch needs to go. now. at a carpet store for a couple bucks you can get this carpet tape (i dont remember the exact name, tell them what you are doing, they will help you) and you just put the tape half under the old carpet on all sides, and place the patch on top. and ta-da. you could hardly tell when i did it. hope it helps!
- Q: We moved into a new home, and until we change the carpet out, is there a temporary fix you can use to hide unsightly bleach stains on carpeting?
- A simple cover for a stain is an area rug. Or try to position the furniture so it covers the worst of it. Depending on the color of the carpet you can use some food coloring or strong coffee/tea to dye it back to a color (though not exact) that may not stand out as much as a bleached out spot.
- Q: two days ago we rented one of those rug doctors and shampood the carpet. we went over it a few times so the carpet did get wet. Now im smelling like a mildew/ gross dog smell (i dont have dogs) the AC has been on the whole time and the windows are opened...how do i get rid of this horrible smell!?
- lower back --- consume with the help of Spartan Chemical -- combination it with distilled water (purely water, no shampoo) and positioned it interior the steam purifier -- works super. i've got used it many, many, many instances, no person ever listens. It includes microbes that produce sparkling enzymes that dissolve the urine. shop on with the guidelines on the decrease back of the bottle precisely. (that incorporates working the colour attempt) that's engineered to try this, they designed it to attend to urine and feces smells and stains, it works properly in case you retain on with the guidelines. Soak the carpet with the main appropriate dilution (on decrease back of bottle) and enable the microbes artwork at it for a even as until eventually now you vacuum it decrease back up. confirm you have run a attempt strip first, a low fee carpet ought to no longer delay. in some instances takes extra desirable than one application, reckoning on severity of situation and thickness of cloth. this is going to do away with smells. yet you need to get the microbes each and each of how in the process the fabric, and provide them the time they should do the task. no longer purely that, yet I steam wiped sparkling a carpet two times with a exceptionally pronounced expert shampoo, then hit it (0.33 time) with the consume -- waste water replaced into 5-6 instances BLACKER than with the 1st shampoo (gets out extra dirt). you will prefer a minimum of one bottle in line with room, until eventually the venture is severe, then extra. i attempt to purchase it with the help of the case; the sole element i take advantage of on carpets now. you will purely run into venture in case you do no longer get down into the padding, or it is so undesirable that the timber below is compromised with the help of the urine.
- Q: The toilet overflowed the whole bathroom, and it left a huge puddle in the hallway. The carpet is completely soaked. It's clean water though, it's been doing this for days now, but we've been catching it before it reached the carpet. We have a shampooer that is currently sucking up the water, but I need more than that. Also, taking up the carpet from the ground is not an option. One more thing- any good ways to clean it once it gets dry?
- put towels down on the wet spot and walk on them, that will soak up most of the water , FIX THE LEAK ,then shampoo the carpet
- Q: we want to replace the carpeting in our sunken great room, which has a crawlspace under it. What can we do to keep the carpeting from getting musty? Can you put vapor barrier under the carpet? The floor in the great room is wood planks but is there a way to stop moisture from rising and making the carpet smelly? The room is heated but for some reason the carpet gets musty smelling over time.
- Good morning, The other user gandrew is right about using a vapor barrier plastic sheeting underneath your floors in the crawlspace, but you can also go a step further and use a higher-quality carpet pad that has anti-microbial treatment in it alongside a vapor barrier. I work for The Home Depot and we, alongside other home centers, sell upgraded pads you can buy that have these features to ensure you won't have to run into the musty odor carpet problem ever again. Also, when you buy your carpet, be sure the material is of high quality and check for things such as moisture and stain warranties to make sure you are getting the best carpet for your great room. While there are other things to do, such as painting your wood floors and crawlspace walls with a moisture barrier material, it's much easier and works just as well to secure sheets of plastic underneath your floors (use .4 mil or thicker) and a high quality 6lb. or higher carpet pad. This one-two punch of a vapor barrier in the crawl space as well as a pad underfoot when you purchase your new carpet can and will ensure you will have a moisture/smell-free floor guaranteed! Hope this helps you out, aboveaveragejoe

- Q: best way to get red ink out of a white rug ?
- If done immediately , it is sure to work, but it might work now. Get a steam cleaner and carpet shampoo. Steam clean and scrub the carpet with carpet shampoo and warm water. When finished, cover up with towel and stomp on the towel to dry.
- Q: can i pop them in the dryer briefly? or would they burn the rugs have a rubber bottom . thanks also wat cycle should i useDOnt be rude
- I wash the rugs on the regular cycle by themselves. Because of the rubber backing don't put them in the dryer. Lay them out somewhere. (You could put them in the dryer without any heat - fluff air or whatever your dryer calls it - but I find without heat not much drying takes place anyway, and the rugs get a little extra beating up that they don't if you lay them out to dry.) I wash the shower curtain by itself on gentle (if necessary). This, too, shouldn't go in the dryer because most curtains have that vinyl strip across the top where the rings go through. In answer to your question, though, can you wash everything together? Sure. You could if you had to. Most people don't.
- Q: I'd like to know how REAL fur coats, bear skin rugs, etc. are made (by hand not industrial process) as I don't believe its tanning like in leather as it requires the fur to be stripped. I know the animal is killed and harvested, but someone please start after that and tell me as I'm trying to do research for a story I'm working on and I have no experience at this aspect. And if you have an idea of how long they last I'd appreciate it. Also, are they as soft and flexible as it seems or are they harder like leather? Thank you. Also I know its a cruel process and all so please no sarcasm.
- Many of us wear them, but we don't actually make them into coats or rugs. They're ALREADY sold in stores ready to wear. My very first fur coat was from a curly lamb suede outside, fur inside.
