Q: Ok, i want to make a flash gun. I made one before with my cousin, but it broke. I remember what i used to make it, and how to make it, i just need the names of the wires and parts i need. How I made it: I had a battery connected to a wire that connected to a tube that had a special wire in there that heated up when i pressed a button. I would put flash paper in there, and a flame would shoot out. I need to know the name of that wire, I also need to know where to put the button on the wire connected to the battery. The parts are the battery, some regular wire, a push-button switch, and the nichrome wire. Connect one end of the short piece of nechrome wire to one end of a wire. Connect that end to one of the battery terminals. Connect a second piece of wire between the other battery terminal and one side of the switch. Connect a third piece of wire from the switch to the other end of the nechrome wire. When the button is pushed, the wire should heat up.

Q: I am doing wiring in my shed on preexisting light fixtures and outlets. the wiring that was disconnect from that carried the electricity to it. What I am trying to do is have all the light fixtures work of an extension cord. I have another extension wire connected to that with the +, - and 0 showing. The fixtures have 3 wires coming out of them what I think to be the power in, power out, and switch. On the fixture on the end I connected my extension cord thing and it work, BUT only that one. The rest of the fixtures did not work, I do see anything wrong. What I thought was that I was connecting to the switch wire so I changed it and it just buzzed with blue light. What is going on?: the rest of your light fixtures maybe wired through a switch. you would have to hook your extension cord to the switch but you also need to connect the common neutrals and grounds to the cord as well.

Q: The wire in my headphones broke right next to the jack plug. I had a pair of crappy earphones that I have cut up as a replacement jack plug but no matter what I do I cant get any response. Is it because headphone wires are not compatible with earphone wires?Thank you: Wires are wires. They are definitely compatible. The problem is that if the wires you are replace are made of cheap components then the sound quality wont be great. Also if you aren't getting any response then you have either wired it up wrong or you have damaged the speaker drivers and they now no longer work. Make sure you have connected the ground to the ground on the jack and the positive to the positive. Look around on google for a wiring diagram

Q: the plug only has room for black,red,ground wire.. what do i do with the white wire: You can't. You need a 4-wire receptacle to use with 4-wire cable. That is the only to wire this circuit to code. You will need to replace the cord on your appliance with a 4-wire as well.

If there's no blue/white, look for a blue wire, but if you see both wires then use the blue/white. The solid blue wire is typically a power antenna output, and won't keep your amp turned on when you select the CD player or another source. If you have a stock radio, then I'd suggest connecting your remote wire to the power wire at your cigarette lighter, below the radio. That's typically a key-switched wire in a Civic.

Q: there is different gauge wire sizes in the power/ground and speaker wire? which is better? what is the difference? buy ground power and speaker wire the same gauge?: Use the 4 gauge wire (thicker) for your power and then the 8 gauge wire for speakers and ground. If you are wiring a stereo with an amp, its best to ground both at the same spot to reduce what is called ground loop. Otherwise, you may hear engine noise through your speakers and possibly clicks when using your turn signals.

Q: I have a 98' F-150 and need to add a 4 flat trailer wire connector to it. What all do I need to do? Is their a special connector?: If it has an existing plug (6 or 7 Pin round) just buy an adapter. If the truck was equipped with a towing package but you do not have a plug of any kind look under the truck near the rear bumper you should find a bundle of wiring that is not connected to anything. this bundle should include the following colors of wires (red, blue, green, yellow, brown, black with a green line, and White). Go to Auto Zone ot Wal-Mart and get a 4 flat truck side kit. Strip and splice the wires together color to color. Green being your right turn signal, yellow- Left turn signal, Brown-Taillights/Marker lights, White-Ground. If the bundle of wiring is not there then you will need to find the wiring that goes to the tail lights on the truck and splice in to them. Splice into these wires using the same color code i just stated above with Scotch-Locks then for the White wire on the kit just put a ring connector and use a self tap screw to mount it to the frame of the truck or the tow hitch.
