- Q: A horizontal current-carrying wire, free to move in Earth’s gravitational field, is suspended directly above a second, parallel, current-carrying wire. (a) In what direction is the current in the lower wire? (b) Can the upper wire be held in stable equilibrium due to the magnetic force of the lower wire? Explain.I assume they travel in opposite directions if they are both charged the same, but I think my instructor wants something more specific. Any help is much appreciated.
- Current carrying wire does not have extra charge but only flow So there is no electrostatic force between them. The magnetic force is present only when current flows through both wires. If it flows in the same direction then they attract. So if the lower wire is fixed and you wish to suspend the above it must repel it to overcome the gravitational force due to earth acting on it. Hence the wires must carry currents in opposite direction.
- Q: ceiling fan connections which wire goes where?
- The green wire is the ground, the white wire is the neutral, the red wire and black wire are hot (live). Either the red or black go to the ceiling fan and the other will go to the light fixture. For safety's sake turn off the power at the breaker box so all the wires will be dead. While the white is a neutral, if you are holding it and touching ground you could still receive a shock. Hope this helps.
- Q: Blue and white wires contain insulated strands and red wire has a bundle of non-insulated strands. How are the two types of wires (insulated and non-insulated strands) used in homes (i.e. what are they used for?).
- that query is slightly large. It quite relies upon on what you're utilising the cord for. even if that is carrying electric powered contemporary, the insulation will prevent unintentional contact with the present, which could effect in damage to someone or unintentional contact with floor, that could want to effect in failure of the circuit. if you're doing something else, like making a bucket deal with out of cord or utilising it to tie something on your vehicle, the insulation would grant you with a better acceptable grip, which may be better secure in its own correct.
- Q: Okay so I just finished replacing a stolen car radio, but I think I messed up the wiring... When I turn off the car the radio doesn't seem to save the presets I had... it resets the whole stereo... I think it has something to do with the wiring I did... When I installed the radio there were two 12+ volt wires... One said 12+ volt constant and was yellow, and the other said 12+ volt switch and was pink... Problem was when I wired only the yellow one the car stereo wouldn't work, so I tried the pink one and that didn't work.. SO thinking I was clever I wired both to the 12+ volt and VOILA the radio turned on... Problem is I don't think that's how I was supposed to wire it... I have a '97 Honda accord Ex and I don't know if that's what I was supposed to do... :#92;
- the yellow wire is supposed to go to constant power. the pink wire is supposed to go to a switchable power source. usually an ACC wire.
- Q: awg is an american stander to manufacturing electrical wires
- The geometry required to make a stranded circular cable, dictates the use of 7, 13, 19, etc strands. Your question is clear, and the practical reason for using 19 strands in some stranded cables is equally clear. Large cables have to be stranded, so that they can be wound on cable drums for transportation, or installed on-site with bends. Solid cables would not easily allow this. Seven strands can be used for smaller cables. SINGLE core stranded as well as solid core cables use less insulation and take-up less space when circular. So the question is, what is the BEST way to arrange the strands to provide a circular shape? Start one central strand. Six more strands fit very well around the central strand. Total strands is now 7. Try this with seven coins about the same diameter. There is room to place six more strands (or coins) in each of the slight openings between the outer sides of the first six strands. This fitting in also locks the shape of the bunch of strands. Total strands is now 13. Six new, but larger gaps appear between the outers of the last laid six strands. Filling these gaps with the final six strands, results in a shape which is a cross between a circle and a hexagon. Total strands is now 19. Cords can be used as a filler to make the bundle more circular in shape. Only 7, 13, 19, etc strands will give this near circular shape. 14,15,16, 17,18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25,......strands will NOT give a near circular shape to a cable. Try it with, 19 similar diameter coins or washers or copy out 19 circles in CAD. As more 'circles' are added the fit gets worse. Both the shape and fit can be improved by using different diameter strands for part of the assembly. This is basic to all cables, electrical as well as mechanical.
- Q: I like bending paperclips to make things, does anyone know where you could buy spools of the wire paperclips are made out of.(any type of wire that is the same size and material will work)

- Q: Coming from my ceiling I have a black, a grey, 2 white, 2 bare and a red wire. Coming from my ceiling fan/light fixture is a green, black, black with a white stripe and a white wire. How exactly would I go about wiring this? It is a two switch setup without a remote.Thank you in advance.
- Call the manufacturer about your ceiling fan. It may be designed to work with a light kit. I've done this myself. The grey and red sound like wiring that works with the light kit. The black, white, and green wires are hook to your house wire. (House wire is black, white, and bare (ground)).
- Q: how to wire a receptacle with 6 wires?
- use 3 wire nuts and 3 jumpers, color to color and then connect the others together. Black wire to the dark screw, white color to the silver screw and the green to the ground connection. If this does not make sense to you contact a local qualified professional electrician to do the work.
- Q: Ok You know the speaker wires that go to the back of the subwoofer? The metal part that comes out of the wire came out of the wire, and it makes a funny sound or no sound at all. How can I fix this? Also, I cut the wire and put the copper wires into the subwoofer, it works so so, any sugestions? lew
- Connection to a subwoofer is either bare wires or rca type jack (male end) and are eith plug to the rca jack (female) or a screw post for the wires. From the sound of it you are using the rca type, it is is just buy a new one the are inexpensive to replace. You need to have a good solid connection for you sub. Hope this helps.
- Q: ok so i wired the subs to the amp now, the positive (Red) goes to the battery, the ground (Black) is currently grounded to the metal under my drivers seat. My question is does it matter the color wire is that goes to the stereo? Can i use a red or black? Does it really matter? If not, where exactly would i hook it up behind my aftermarket sony headunit?
- I was once considering of tapping into the 12v constant on the HU like I do in 95% of the installs i've ever achieved. Are you talking about the far flung wire connection? If so, you commonly mean the accessory wire, now not the steady wire; and to be able to be a hindrance within the Trailblazer in view that there is no accent energy wire in the radio harness. I might recommend using a line output converter that has a developed-in trigger circuit, so it will flip the amp on when it detects an audio signal coming from the head unit. There's no excellent position to connect a faraway wire in a Trailblazer with a manufacturing facility head unit. You could hook up with the accessory vigour output on the key change harness (a thick brown wire) however then the amplifier will flip off with the important thing, alternatively of staying on unless the door is opened like the radio does. The Motorola box is for the Onstar procedure, and there isn't a motive to do something with it at all. Sixteen feet of vigor wire maybe sufficient or would now not; depends upon where you position the amp. The battery and firewall access is on the motive force's part, so in case you maintain the amp on the driver's aspect of the vehicle, you'll in most cases have ample wire.
