- Q: I just moved into my first apartment and there is rug all throughout the house, I don't really know much about vacuum cleaners, but I need to get one, I want a good one but for less than $100, can someone please help me!!!
- I would not recommend a Dirt Devil. I bought one and it is forever plugging up. The least little fuzz ball will start the plug and then it gets worse as you use it. It needs to be taken apart every few weeks, all cleaned, then put back together--total pain. I have had good luck with Hoovers over the years (had lots of rental properties then and they sure got a work out cleaning between renters). My all time favorite you would have to scour the 2nd hand stores for. It is the old Kenmore cannister (they came in blue and avocado green). They had a power head that was awesome and had a separate motor. The main motor could suck the hair off a cat (just kidding, it probably could, but I never tried it). I just found one the other day for $10.00 so I am doing the happy dance.
- Q: I'm a guy who isn't extremely familiar with vacuum cleaners so maybe someone can help. I was running around the house with my Kenmore Progressive vacuum cleaner and I accidentally pushed the adjustable thingy that lets you set the height of the vacuum. This adjuster thing is about halfway down the silver tube. The second I touched it, the carpet cleaning part shut off so it's just sucking air. I pushed everything together as hard as I could trying to get it to come back on but with no luck. I had been vacuuming for quite a while. Do these things shut off when they get too hot and stay off until they cool? It seems kind of fishy that it died right when i touched the adjuster thing though. Any ideas?
- sounds like you may have broken your belt when you adjusted the height. turn it over and turn it on, if the brush doesn't spin, you have to take the stupid thing apart and change the belt. this is the most common problem that people have with vacuums.
- Q: Jim sells vacuum cleaners. Each week he earns $200 plus 8% of his sales. How much did he earn last week if his sales totaled $3200?
- Every week he earns $200 so lets put that in first: $ = 200 + ... Now lets solve the rest. First he earns 8% of his sales so, if we let x represent his sales the equation will look like this: $ = 200 + 0.08x Now sub in 3200 for x: 200 + 0.08(3200) = 456 Therefore he earned $456.
- Q: Our old dryer wouldn't dry clothes so we replaced it with a brand new one. We're having the same problem so I'm assuming the vent is blocked. I'm not very handy and I electrocute myself routinely so I want to make sure I'm not doing anything dangerous if I hop on the roof with and try fishing any crap out of the vent. Suggestions or warnings?
- Roof ? it should vent out the wall just unplug it pull it out and clean the vent from behind it
- Q: Are these vacuums really as great as people say they are? Are they really the best vacuums? I've always wondered about them, I may do the 30 day trial some day, but I'd like to find out more about them first.
- Orecks are decent vacuums, but you have to understand their not as powerful as other vacuums because they have a small motor which allows them to be so lightweight. But overall a good vacuum.
- Q: difference between kenmore progressive 35922 and 35923 vacuum cleaners?
- Be careful with Kenmore, Kenmore is a name that is used by any and all companies to test out their products. First I would find out who the real manufacurer of that product is then come back with that question :)
- Q: I have 2 vacuum cleaners, both need new electrical cords! How do I replace them?
- Have them serviced. These are notoriously hard to take apart and reassemble. Plus, the cords might be soldered or hard-wired to the switch or motor, making this type of repair very difficult and potentially dangerous.
- Q: if you brought a battery operated conventional vacuum cleaner into space, in theory would it work? would it be able to create the internal vacuum to make it work? ( I am thinking along the lines of positive and negative pressure)
- no, you need matter to make a vacuum and space has no gas or pressure for this to happen. nothing would be moving. you need gas to produce the suction which produce the vacuum
- Q: I have a 2 vacuum cleaners, and I HATE them both! One works okay, but the suction on the hand tool sucks (that one is a dirt devil) and the bissell bagless I have, spills dust/dirt everywhere...I have even taken the whole thing apart and it still is dirty and leaves a mess.I have a baby and a german shepard!Which vacuum works the best for you? the pick-up?
- All bagless machines are no good. They will have good suction power, but very low airflow. You need both airflow and suction power for good cleaning. Bagless systems have to draw air through a very long series of tubes and filters, and this lowers the airflow but it increases the sealed suction. My advice would be to at least get a bagged machine. You've probably heard of dyson (they have GREAT advertising) which is a bagless, but they are not a good machine!! Try and stay away from those brands, it will be much better in the long run. If you have a baby you are probably interested in good filtration. Now, bagless machines and any vacuum from a box store will have poor filtration when comparing them to a high end vacuum cleaner. Miele's for example will bring the air parts per million to ZERO. Most bagless machines will actually raise the airborn particles beacuse even tho they are retaining alot of dirt, they are putting out some dirt in the air and so the particles in the air increases. Riccar, Sebo, Miele, Simplicity and Lindhaus are the BEST vacuums you can get. There are a couple other brands as well, but these are the main ones. Honestly a bissell or a dyson or a hoover or any of those do not compare in quality, filtration, or features. Sure they will pick up good out of the box, but that is not of great value if they don't retain the dirt, don't last longer then 5 years etc... Here are some models i would recommend. The Riccar Standar, Sebo G1 or X4 or Felix, Or the Miele Callisto. Good luck!!
- Q: Which vacuum cleaner moves easier for a person in a wheelchair? Are there controls that you have to use your feet for? How do they work in small rooms?
- The new dyson dc24 with the ball is super duper light weight and easy to push and turn. I don't know anything about a shark. The dyson is nice because the hose is so easy to pop out, and it has a handle so one could easily clean crevices and corners. The switches are on the main part of the vacuum, right below the handle and above the canister. It would work very well in a small room because it is a small vacuum.
