- Q:I need to use quot;insulated copper wireor quot;enamel covered copper wirefor a project...I used normal copper wire and obviously it failed. Can this be like normal copper wire with plastic/rubber coating around it, similar to electrical wire? Or is it something special?
- yes if it has plastic on it, it is an insulated wire
- Q:I recently purchased a 1-wire alternator and I'm not sure what to do with the wire harness that was on my stock alternator. Also not sure what the three wires on it go to. Can anyone experienced in alternator wiring tell me what these wires do and if it is ok to leave them unhooked?
- Can't tell you for sure what it is unless I looked but most alternators generate 3 phase power so maybe it's a wire for each phase of your power. The new alternator is putting all 3 phases into one wire internally to feed out. I would check with the manufacturer if the new alternator is compatible.
- Q:i want to rewire my trailer harness on my truck. i have a 6 wire roung plug but i wat a 7 wire plug. what is the 7 wires for?
- Prepare for accurate and confusing information. The center pin on a 7 pin plug is generally used for backup lights (black wire) if you have them wired in. Being that you have a 6 pin plug you probably don't so you will disregard the center pole. This is the order of color starting from the ground pole (white wire). The ground pole should be the one next to the slot in the body of the plug that lines it up with the plug housing when you put it all together. White (ground), Yellow (L turn), Brown (tail lights), Red (battery charge wire), Green (R turn), Blue (trailer brakes). If you don't have trailer brakes, disregard that pole. The brake lights work through the turn signals, if they are wired separately, it is wrong. Starting at the ground pole next to the slot in the plug, the order of colors goes around the plug in the direction away from the slot, you will end with the blue wire on the other side of the slot next to the white wire. It's very confusing to explain and when you read the colors on the plug compared to what I have told you, you will definately scratch your head. This is the (U.S.) national standard for all trailer wiring, unfortunalely, not all manufacturers adhere to this thus causing confusion for people such as yourself. I cannot even begin to guess how many trailers I have wired and how many tow packages I have installed on cars and trucks. I wish there was an easier way to explain it but the only other option is a diagram which answers does not support. Worse comes to worse and you don't like any of the other answers you get, e-mail me and I will mail you a diagram or maybe even a picture if I can come up with one.
- Q:where can i buy these type of wires (copper insulated wires)??
- Any hardware store or Lowes, Home depot There's nothing special about Insulated wire, but what size wire ? What's your application ?
- Q:why is neutral wire.explain plz
- you need the neutral to complete the circuit
- Q:While updating the parents basement we needed to replace a very very old 3 way switch. However, the wiring to the Fluorescents seems extreme to me. Here is how i can describle the layout. Panel - junction box - double splice (one to light fixture and one to threeway switch below it)-. From that threeway switch 12-3 wiring to upstairs landing with other threeway switch resides. How should I make my connections to switches? If the other swtiches were not so old I would just copy them.
- John has described the three way circuit for you. Your description matches his description. Good paradigm for amateur fiddlers with wiring: If it works, don't try to fix it.
- Q:two straight and parallel wires are separated by 6 cm. there is a 2 A current flowing in the first wire. if the magnetic field strength is found to be zero between the two wires at a distance of 2.2 cm from the first wire, what is the magnitude and direction of the current in the second wire?
- If the magnetic field at 2.2cm is zero it means that at that distance the fields produced by the two wires cancel out. At 2.2cm from the first wire the field strength is B= uI/ 2pi r ... . where u is the permitivity of free space, 4.0 x 10^-7 N/A^2 B= (4.0 x 10^-7 N/A^2)( 2 A)/ 2(3.14)(0.022m) B=( 8 x10^-7)/(0.138) B= 5.79 x 10^-6 Tesla The magnitude of the magnetic field from the other wire must be equal in magnitude at 3.8cm away (6- 2.2) and opposite in direction. Using the right hand rule (thumb points in direction of current and fingers curl around the wire to show the direction of the magnetic field) you can see that for the magnetic fields to be in opposite direction between the two wires the current must be flowing in the same direction as the first wire. Using the formula for magnetic field strength you can then determine the current needed. 5.79 x10^-6 T= (4.0 x 10^-7) I/ 2 (3.14)(0.038m) THen solve for I I= (5.79 x 10^-6 T)(2)(3.14)(0.038m)/ 4.0 x 10^-7) I= 3.45 A Therefore there is a current of 3.45A in the wire and it is flowing in the same direction as the first.
- Q:Their is a Shortage in the wire inside the actuall headphones, I was wondering if I could purchase a beats studio wire to rewire them.
- Any wire about the same size as the original wire will work. Only if a special connector is involved would there be any reason to replace the wiring with a manufacturer-supplied part.
- Q:whenever i try to connect two electrical wires by twisting them together, i hold the two wires paralell to eachother, grab them with needle nose pliers and turn it. it never seems to work though! if anything, it just breaks the wire and i have to strip more insulation! what am i doing wrong? thx
- What gauge is the wire? Is it stranded or solid? Each type of wire has its own method. You can't really twist solid wires because as you have seen, they stress and break. If you do get them to connect they can loosen up create a bad connection. Electronic places have special connectors for these. Stranded wires are not usually a problems with twisting.
