Q: I have pets. Is it okay to have a solid floor, like tile or terrazo, on my living room floor and just put a big rug on it instead of carpet? Do you thik that will hurt the resale value of the home?
I would prefer terrazo flooring. Most of my life, I've lived in homes with wall to wall carpeting -- I hate it. You can't easily change colors, decor and the floors never gets really clean unless you rip out the rug and install a new one. I prefer area rugs (flexibility possibility to remove) over stone, tile, or wooden floors. Easier to clean thoroughly and preferred if someone in the household suffers from allergies. Also, if the home is being shown to prospective buyers, clean rugs don't hold objectionable odors or the animal scent that might make the house harder to sell.
Q: Okay, a its getting colder ive started rugging my horse again, but theres one slight problem. He' terrified of them. It never happened before, but for the past couple of weeks the only way i can get a rug off him is by undoing the straps and letting him spook while holding onto the rug, and then putting it on i have to have very skilled aim and try to get it on while he is running in circles. This isnt happening because this is his first year of having a rug, he has had them for all 14 years of his life, its just ridiculous, and its not like the rug is different in any way at all. Its not my method of putting on/taking off the rug either, no one at my stable can do it without him spooking. Just wondering though, is there anyway i can desensitise him to this? Or find a better way to get the rugs on and off?
allow the horse to sniff the rug and you should try hanging it in the stall to get him use to it. this doesn't work try having someone pet him and keep his head turned to distract him while putting on and removing it
Q: I want to know where to rent a carpet cleaner, and what is the best kind to rent. Also whats the best detergent to use , etc. I am moving next week and the carpets need to be cleaned in here. They are beige and we have a dog too. Help!

Q: do i have to wait till the carpet dryes before i put the furniture back onto the carpet? or can i put the furniture right back on it? if not how long does it take to dry?
I had my carpet cleaned professionally and needed to wait until it was dry to put the furniture back on it, if not it may cause mold. I waited 8 hrs.
Q: Yo!My apartment floors are horrable tiles in the living and bed rooms and I hate it! It's cold and cracked up and ugly. Anyways, we started looking at area rugs but for the sizes we would need to cover most of the rooms we are only finding ones that cost like $1,000 - and we can't afford that - and thats at places like kohls and target, places I thought would be cheap. Are there any websites where I can buy large area rugs for cheap? Or could I even buy the kind of rugs they usually install but not install it? Where would I get that? At this point anything is going to look better then these stupid tiles!
Check out Frontgate, Grandinroad and Home Decorators on line. They offer indoor/outdoor rugs in all sizes that are really inexpensive. They come in traditional and contemporary patterns and are really soft to the feel. The best thing is that they only need to be hosed down to clean. Home Decorators for instance is presently offering their 9 x 12 size at under $300.
Q: Why people crazy about indoor outdoor rugs? Give the proper reasoning.
Outdoor : Small and large houses alike can benefit from attractive outdoor rugs. The right outdoor rug can extend your living room into your yard and make use of space you didn't realize you had. If enjoying the outdoors is a priority for you and your family, then read on for all the things you need to know about outdoor rugs. Indoor: One of the most important things to look for in an indoor and outdoor type rug is the size of it. You'll find they come in sizes ranging from small, runner rugs to huge, room-size rugs. Which size you need to get is going to depend on where you want to put it. Many people choose to use indoor outdoor rugs on hallways leading to and from the outside, which is why you'll find many runner rugs. However, other people wish to cover their entire patio on them, and for this purpose you would use a larger one. To make things easy, take your measuring tape out and see how large you need it to be. Chances are they wont have the exact size, but you should be able to find one close to it.
Q: I have puppy pee stains on my carpet and i want to get it clean, i do have a upright carpet cleaner(bissel)what will work best?
Here is a technique that should solve your problem. As with all urine stains, it is recommended that you repeat the process after thoroughly rinsing with water. The techniques on this site are for natural fiber based rugs. Best of luck!
Q: I'm thinking a dark purpley magenta... or perhaps a shaggy brown rug might suit. Ideas?
I personally would go with a burgundy color..like a red wine...Never go with light beige colors, they are very hard to clean unless you clean them right away. Our home has fitted carpets and all of them beige, and one can see every little blemish. I like burgundy. I think it won't clash and it looks elegant...I think a shaggy brown rug will not do the blue justice and yes, if you are young and daring and for bold extremes, then I think a purply magenta could work. That will be a bold color scheme but it can work. Also make sure, that you either redecorate your walls or the rug and the blue cream sofa should somehow be in harmony with the color on the wall ..otherwise if you have too many different colors, (meaning the wall has a yellow paint, and the rug is purply magenta and the the sofa is blue cream, then I find that too much of a contrast..so check the walls and if they are white, I would paint them and maybe give them a nice color that could be a blue...Blue is very relaxing and a restful color and it depends in which room this sofa stands. A cream colored wall would also go with a blue cream sofa and a burgundy carpet...I would not get the cheapest rug. Look for a bargain but get something nice..but not too expensive. Look around in in antique shops for bargains..Maybe they have something suitable that is not too expensive..x
Q: Hi I have a mobile and for some reason something was leaking and it caused our hall way carpet and our two bedroom carpet to get wet and now its moldy. Idk where the leak came from. But it's pretty bad. So how do I go about fixing it? Do I pay someone to do it or can me and my family do it. I believe we have taken care of the leak. Now we gotta fix carpet. Thanks.
So you don't know where the leak came from, but you believe you've fixed it. I'll take you at your word on that. The carpet was originally placed on the floor before the walls were put up. So you will have to cut and rip up the carpet, scrape the carpet pad off the floor(glued down) and clean up the particle board (replacing any that is damaged). Then you can purchase new and relay carpet. Might be easier to use your insurance to get the work done.
Q: theres a rug on ikea im interested in its 195 by 150 however the space i need to fill is 131 by 82 can i cut the rug and fit it into the area will it fray ? from the HEMNES range
You mark and cut the rug from the backside. Use a razor-knifem or drywall knife which is razor sharp. It won't fray if the rug is fitted tight against the wall. You can just cut it and leave it or you can put a glue on it like carpenters white glue and let it dry out. It dries clear. Make sure all your cuts are complete, including the pink carpet material.
