Q:I am going to rent a rug doctor to clean the carpet in my apartment. The only stains are from my puppy, and I am not sure what kind of cleaner to use with it. should I use the regular cleaner or am I going to need a heavy duty/pet specific cleaner? I have shampooed before, but not since I got my puppy.
The rug doctor will not remove the stains, but if you use an enzyme cleaner on the spots first, any rug machine will, with any shampoo. Cross your fingers there's no smell. That's another problem.
Q:I have regular rugs and the back of them keep peeling and the colors are faded. I have washed them numerous times. I have heard that people are now using memory foam rugs. What is the purpose for memory foam rugs?
Sounds like a bad idea to me -- I presume you mean bathroom rugs. Memory foam is not very durable with heavy use and it would be wierd under a rug since it has such a slow rebound from pressure. The rug would be lumpy all of the time, leaving footprint marks wherever you walked. You also can't machine wash or machine dry foam rugs because they will break down from the heat and rough tumbling. It sounds like you like to keep them clean so that doesn not seem like it would be an acceptable option for you. Don't buy rugs with rubber coating on the back in the first place -- it always breaks down with time. If fading is a problem, stick to rugs made from synthetic fibers like acrylic polyester or olefin fibers instead of cotton or nylon. Those synthetics will retain their dye colors better. Buy good quality thick rugs with a woven fabric back or, better yet, that are reversible. I have had high quality reversible bath rugs in both polyester and in Egyptian cotton -- they have lasted beautifully for years with frequent washing and tumble drying.

Q:I recently moved into my first apartment and its pretty nice except for the carpet in the living room. Its a kight green color and it's just full if stains. I would love to just put a new carpet in but thats not really practical because I'm just renting the place. It waould cost stanley steamers about $100 to clean it but this carpet is really old and stained. Would it even be worth that? I'm afraid I'm gonna spend the money and it's still gonna look gross
Make sure you take before pictures! that way when you move out you wont get blamed for the stains. Sears will clean 2 rooms for $69. You could buy a green machine handheld cleaner for that price too. Most grocery stores have the rental steam cleaners for less. If you go for the professional company then they have to get it clean or they wont make you pay.
Q:I'm looking for a rug to cover up the dining room carpet, just to lay on top but everything I find is very expensive. The rug doesn't have to be anything exotic, anyone have any affordable ideas? Or creative ways of turning something into a rug?
Check out the instructables website
Q:the corners of my rug keep bending and it alllways gets messed up and wrinkledin this middle. why does it do thatt=[
Jenny is right about using a thin matt under the rug after you get the corners flat and the 1 st poster said to iron it.. If you try and iron any thing with nylon fibers you ll melt them and ruin the rug. So to answer you question, 1 st turn the rug over and place on a warm spot such as a heat register. You may need to do 1 corner at a time.Heat will relax the backing and help flatten it. Small weight on the corner ( such as a book or some magazines) help help too. You may want to even back roll it and warm it. This will flatten the corners out while its getting warm. Then use the matts recommended for you rug. There are matts for rugs over hard wood, over a hard surface and rugs over carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar..GL
Q:My eight month old son just popped the lid and coverede himself and the carpet!!
Carpet cleaner and then add boiling water. After this, make sure you scrub really really hard and make certain that the carpet is completely dry, use a hair drier if you have to, because you don't want mold under the carpet. This should remove it, it removes most carpet spills except things like ink.
Q:Is professionally cleaning a FILTHY carpet enough or should it just be replaced?I am moving into a house with a FILTHY carpet. Truly disgusting, just nasty. The house stinks bad because of it. The landlord says he will get it professionally cleaned. I would rather have all the carpet taken out and replaced...or some other flooring put in. Is professionally cleaning a carpet that great of an idea? Does it only get the top surface clean..or does it clean deep down?
Professional cleaning can accomplish a lot. I've seen a really grubby carpet that was 5 shades lighter after it was cleaned. Why don't you wait and see how the carpet looks after cleaning?
Q:I'm buying a New Forest on Thursday and have done some research but just want to see what your opinions are? Lady has a very thick coat on at the moment and for the time being, while I gradually get her back into work I won't clip her. Will she be ok in and out without a rug? What would you do in this situation? If and when I do clip her, what rug do you recommend? Just turn out or stable too and if so what thickness? Thanks in advance.
Keep her the way she's been kept. With a thick coat she's likely been on her own, which is perfectly good for a nice, woolly native pony. All our ponies are quite happy under what they've grown for themselves. Try to provide run-in shelter or at least a wall, so that if she's out in driving sleet she'll have a bit of protection. It's amazing, though, how much ice and snow will pile up atop the pony, not melting at all, showing the excellent insulating power of a winter coat. Come spring, of course, you'll be covered with loose pony fur as she sheds. It will get in your nose, your mouth, your gloves, your knickers, and your soup. If you decide to clip next fall, then it'll be a whole different situation. But for goodness sake, don't clip now!
Q:How to totally remove dog hair on the carpet?
Don't use broom with plastic chemical fiber; try to use cotton covers and decoration at home. Finally; use brown brush dipped in water brush sofa and carpet, then the dog hair will roll together, then it is to remove. In addition, dog hair is not easy to fly, mop, best humidifier help, not easily with static electricity: Use the cloth that won't be squeezed water to wipe the furniture and sofa. Tell you the secret, use a rag, when remove the dog hair, there is better the moist environment, thus the dog hair is relatively be concentrated, and try to be diligent to comb hair for dog
