- Q: how can i calculate the current carrying capacity of a power cable when the area is given?can you give me a table on this?
- Table 310.16 of the NEC (2008)
- Q: There have been severe storms in my country Kenya and power lines have fallen and caused a lot of injuries, some fatal to pedestrians, motorists and others.I am sure if power lines were covered with rubber sheathing or some other apopropriatde material, there would be less likelihood of electrocution, serious injury, fire or property damage. I am a lay person in these matters so I am talking from what I have seen. Thanks in advance.
- Let's see... First of all ONLY high voltage power cables do not have protective polymer insulation. Low voltage cables, like the ones that bring outlet tension to homes do have an insulation, usually made of PVC, rubber, silicone and such. The large, 10000Volts, up to and over 200000 volts and so on do not for several reasons: 1. It would be impractical to make. For usual materials, like PVC the thickness of the insulation would be extreme (I think as thick as several centimeters) as to protect from such high voltages. Such insulations would make the cables break under their own weight. 2. The cables heat up really good under the enormous currents and voltages so the insulation plastic would be close to melting point all the time. 3. PVC is quite senzitive to weather curing. It becomes brittle and cracks if left under weather condition for several years so the insulation would still serve to no good. Furthermore, regulations regarding aerial wiring state that they should avoid crossing populated areas, roads, etc. unless absolutely necessary. Also, wires fallen on ground should definitely not be messed with. Furthermore, if high voltage cables were insulated, this would only serve ready made combustion materials for fires in case of short circuits and damages. I guess this takes care of your question...
- Q: On my power cable, (the thing that plugs into the wall, and laptop to charge it) well in the middle of the cord, there is a rectangle black box. What is it called, and what is the purpose of it?
- its a transformer to cut the mains plug voltage down to the same voltage as the battery which will be around 16volts to 20 volts for a laptop, the desktop PC will have the same transformer built into the tower casing beside the fan,but you just cannot see it, and there will be a voltage selector switch for the country you are using it in ie-UK =220-240volts, USA=110 volts or similar, both the laptops and desktops use the same internal operating low voltages, and mains voltage would fry everything inside ,that's why they are fitted with the transformers.
- Q: all of my wiring seems okay and everything seems to work except for my amp power. I have the blue cord on the harness wired into the blue/white cord in my kenwood because i tried going blue to blue and it didnt work. So i have the remote cable from my amp plugged into the blue cord on my head unit. I have no power to my amp.
- Its usually a blue wire with a white stripe. If not, another option is to find your fuse box and stick it in with a fuse that powers the stereo or another fuse that only is active when the key is turned. Afterwards, make sure the amp turns off when the key is off, if not, select another fuse. This is how my amp is hooked up because when I originally installed it, I had a stock deck. Good Luck!
- Q: There is currently a power cable going into the back of my primary sata hard drive but i want to put another hard drive in but there is not another power cable
- You can get a 4 pin molex to Sata power Adapter. heres one that'll power both your hard drives.
- Q: I am trying to install a dc power outlet and it says i need to connect to the direct power cable. How do I find it?
- this why you should have change the fluid - ball checks in value body
- Q: i have a 99 T reg subaru impreza turbo 2000, i want to install my amps and subs myself and i undestand the principal of what i need to do i just cant seem to find any obviouse way of getting the wiring kit power cable from the battery to the inside of the car. can anybody help?
- Check the firewall under the dashboard. You may have to cut a hole in a rubber plug and run the wire through there. Make sure you run the power wire along the opposite side of the car as the RCA cable or else you will hear engine noise through the speakers. Remember to keep the ground short and to attach it to a clean paint free metal surface of the floor board that is properly grounded to the frame. Happy thumping
- Q: My power supply (tagan 1100w) has an 8pin m/b power cable but the PCIe one looks cooler.
- yes you have ues it
- Q: I have an IVI Checkmate receipt printer, but do not have a power cable for it. Where can I get a power cable for this receipt printer?
- Hi.. I think for all your power cable and cable accessories requirement this site can be helpful
- Q: printer is powered on. cables are securely connected. printer has ink and paper. printer installed as network printer on all client computers. other users are able to print to the printer. but printer not working on the other computer
- Remove and reinstall the print driver.
