Here is what it says in one of my motherboard's manual: CAUTION Failure to use an ATX12V power supply, or not connecting the 12 V (2x2) processor core voltage power supply connector to the desktop board may result in damage to the desktop board and/or power supply.
- Q: I have an Asus Revenge III motherboard with only one USB 2.0 connection but my case has two sets of USB 2.0 cables so I can only connect one side of the front USB ports. Is there a y-splitter available to connect the two cables from the case into one connector allowing me to use all my USB 2.0 ports with the one connection on my motherboard? Also I have a couple of front USB 3.0 connectors on my case but the motherboard doesn't have an internal connector for USB 3.0, just USB 3.0 on the back. Is there a way to connect these to the USB 3.0 without having to buy another USB 3.0 controller card in order to have an internal USB 3.0 connection?
- Wow - It sounds like this case motherboard don't really match well. USB - any version cannot be effectively split with a Y or similar stuff. You can use extension cables (as short as possible), powered extensions, and hubs (passive or powered). Inside the case, not practical. You have one internal connector. If you try to connect more than one device, you need a hub ( or a new internal card) to manage multiple devices. If you have an external USB 3.0 port that works, attached to the MoBo - but it faces the back. you -might- be able to hack together a wire adapter that connects that to the front connector on your case. Again- 1-to-1, but I wouldn't try it myself unless I was ready to deal with a fried circuit. If you really want to get the best use out of these, either get an external hub/s, or add internal card/s. There are mixed USB 2.0+3.0 hubs available. That would need to plug into the single USB 3.0 jack you have.

- Spade connectors do provide the best connection as it has the most amount of surface area, and you can make a very tight connection. You can get spade connectors online or at any hi end audio video store. No the chain stores will not have them. Spade connectors can be crimped or soldered. The advantage of soldered beside the tighter connection is that if the wire is properly tined where no wire is exposed to air, it will minimize the chances of the wire to corrode.
