Q: i would like to know if there is any way to have my high beams on and my low beams on at the same time to light up the road better at night: This is rather easy to do. On one set of headlights locate the connector to the high and low beam lights. With a volt meter or automotive test light connected the negative to body ground. Use the positive probe to determine which lead is positive for each lamp. Get a high current (about 25 Amps) 50V or so diode. Connect the banded side of the diode to the LOW BEAM positive wire. Connect the side opposite the band to the HIGH BEAM positive wire. A diode works as a one away valve for electrons. When the low beams are on the diode will block power from getting to the high beams. But when the high beams are on power will flow to the low beams. You only need to do this at one set of headlights as they are on a common circuit. If you can't find a 25 Amp or higher diode you can get a 25A 50V Full Wave Bridge Rectifier from Radio Shack; OOOPS! I mean The Shack. Connect one of the AC inputs (sometimes indicated by symbols) to the high beam circuit. It does not matter which AC input you use and you could use both if you wanted. Connect the + symbol of the bridge rectifier to the low beam positive circuit. A bridge rectifier is simply four diodes arranged in a pattern to turn AC into DC. You are just using it as a diode.

Q: There are some other similar questions about this but can‘t find the righ answer. Here‘s what happened. My girlfriend and I cleaned the carpet on her 02 Honda Civic LX. So for better access, we removed both front seats. When done, we wanted to move the car foward a lil bit so I started up the car (this is with no seats) and moved it. After installing the seats back and connecting the cables for the seat belt restraints, we turned on the car once again and the SRS light was showing. I‘m pretty sure it went off when we started the car with no seats the firs time but did not realized it untill we were done. So my question is, how can I remove the freaking light? I tried disconnecting the battery for like an hour with no change. All cables are connected properly. Would a scan tool remove the light? If so, is it safe to do it and would all restraint systems will work normaly?: air bags are nothin but trouble, Switch em.

Q: I have a problem with a 1985 Chevy G30 van with the hydroboost system.The brakes are locking up from time to time and also are grabby at times. I know that the front brakes are locking up but I am not sure yet about the rears. If I let it set for a while the pressure bleeds of and they may be OK for a week or more. I have bled the front brakes to remove any dirt. Opening the bleeders does not to seem to instantly release the brakes either. The brake pedal does not seem to be sticking and the actuating rod length has never been changed.I have been told the master cylinder will not cause this. What about the hydro booster or proportioning valve? The brake system warning light DOES NOT come on when this happens.I am desperate here as this is the truck I use to make my living as a contractor.If anyone has experienced this please contact me.: I don't know a whole bunch about these systems, but I can tell you that the combination (AKA proportioning) valve, if it has/sees issues, will turn on. But it is designed for a brake bias issue between front and rear.if one or the other circuits drops pressure, the brake light will come on. Also, if the master cylinder leaks internally, the brake light should come on. Assuming brake light works, you need to test the combo valve to make sure it is working properly. All you do is locate it (on trucks it was located on the furthest forward crossmember, just follow the two brake lines from the master to it) and pull the single wire connector off of it. With the key in run, as I recall the circuit, the light should stay off. Now ground that wire to a clean spot on the frame or engine. The light should come on. That means the circuit is working, and IF the proportioning valve was faulty, the brake light should come on, which essentially eliminates it as a cause of the problem. Sorry I can't help beyond that, but I don't know how the hydroboost applies braking effort.almost sounds like a stuck valve somewhere.

Q: I have a 96 Dodge Caravan with the 3.0 v6 engine while the vehicle is being driven or is idling the engine light will come on and stay on upon resetting the system the light goes out and stays out but comes on the next time it is driven what is this?: The thing you need to do Dorothy is to find out what error code is causing the light to come on.Try using the ignition by placing the key in the ACC position then put it into the run position , back to the ACC position then back to the run and back to the ACC position then to the run position then leave it there.The engine light will flash once then pause then flash twice in a row , this will be code 12 which means that the battery was disconnected within the last 50 starts.Wright down each code that appears and when you see code 55 that means it's the end of the stored codes. Q: just replaced the mass air sensor and i cant get the check engine light off. any suggestions?: cold air intakes are the same type of junk that the mini super chargers were/fakes and junk will do nothing for your car because the car has an electric computer controlling the engine/that limits timing/fuel injection/trans shifts and all types of power out put//i have seen claims of 50 to 100 hp for this bunch of sewer pipes and never any real proof/the only real thing is a guy with a super laptop and a computer program and go for it/if they gave 100 hp they would be on every car on the planet/cost me a lot of money to get about 35 hp/and i never had one/they come on supercharged cars for obvious reasons

Q: My dad wanted to know how to get this hitch(roughly boat-shaped/ a rectangle with a triangle on the front, with two wheels) that he attatched to the back of his toyota takoma pick-up truck to show brake lights as well as turn signals when he brakes or turns.The attatchement hitch-thing has lights and what-not and my dad mentioned something about an output and electricity outlet to and/or from the truck.no idea. I‘m not a handy man.you can use all the mechanic/electric jargon you want though since my dad understands it. If you want you may include links to any diagrams or pictures that may help.: If the truck has independent brake and turn signals he will need a trailer harness converter available at all auto parts stores as trailers currently use a combo brake turn system. If he wants to go the other route he will have to add two lights and wires to the trailer for correct operation. Standard trailer harness colors are Yellow Drivers side turn/brake Green Passengers side turn/brake Brown Marker lights White Chassis ground I am not sure of the truck harness as no year was given but I believe all modern imports are independent.(has brake lights and turn signal lights that are separate from each other) If I had the model and year of truck I could get you the correct wiring schematics for it and some Yotas actually have a quick plug harness you can buy the plug in to plugPlay the lights. Q: The noise isn‘t like wow, thats gonna wake up the neighbors but, it‘s noticable. and I just bought it, I hope it can be fixed.: A check engine light usually means one of two things - you have a problem with your emission system or there is a problem with the engine computer, sometimes major engine failures such as blown engine rods, overheating or running with no oil will not trigger the check engine light.

Q: In the range of 600 or less? 12 gauge is the only option. I‘m 12 but noise doesn‘t bother me. Recoil would like to be kept to a minimum if possible.: Cz makes a decent one. For under 600 your options are slim. Its a 12 gauge so its going to kick

Q: i have a system and everyone has told me i need to upgrade to better alternator because my lights dim when the bass hits. can anyone tell me where i can find a performance alternator for a descent price. checked auto zone and advanced already thanks: eBay baby I got mine there for about the same price that a local shop would charge me for a new one. The only difference is that the shop would keep my original. On eBay I got to keep mine as a back up. If you do get a high output alt. you'd be glad you did but you gotta make sure you upgrade the big 3 well good luck!
