Q: The service air conditioner light on our 1991 Cadillac sedan deville 4.9 comes on when I turn the air conditioner on. The electronic climate control will not let me turn on the heat or the ac. It just defaults to economy. The ac at this point no longer blows cold air. I push the off button and eventually the light goes out. Do you have any thoughts on what may be causing this? The main PCM computer is also involved in operating the HVAC system depending on engine load and throttle position, engine temp, etcso you should have it tested for trouble codes.local parts stores usually offer this as a free service. Any trouble codes might lead to better diagnosing. A shop would have to test to see which system sensors, relays or other areas are not getting power or malfunctioning or diagnose a problem with the main climate control unit. Parts and labor can get pretty spendy so many people opt to switch out the automatic climate controls for a manual control system if the car is worth keeping long term or alter the climate system to perform more manually.bypassing the computer controls with on-off switches mounted to the instrument panel or console mounting platform.

Q: I own a 1988 Mazda B2200 pickup. If it sits for two days or more the battery becomes dead with no juice to start it. I have installed a new battery and checked the alternator and it charges at 13.90 volts. I take the battery connections off and on and there is no spark showing a short. Put a test light between the battery and the terminal. Does it light? Good. Make sure everything is turned off. Find the fuse box. There are probably two of them, one under the hood with master fuses and one inside the cab. Start pulling fuses until the light goes out. When it does, you have found the circuit that is drawing the battery flat. Look on the cover for what it is.radio? Turn signals? Start tracing that circuit until you find the problem. Don't forget to look and make sure a light isn't staying on in the glove box or trunk.

If so, that's your problem. If it's not broke, then you might have to have the dealer replace your headlight switch Assembly.

Q: I‘ve not had a gaming system since I had to pawn off my Super Nintendo to pay the light bill back in college. Now that I want one again, I‘m clueless as to which to go with. If you were starting from nothing, and liked off the hook action games, what system would you go with, and why?: Looking at the types of games you like, I would say a PS3 would be the best new system for you. It's not got a lot of games yet, but it has the most advanced hardware, so over time, it will be better than the Xbox 360. But don't spend thousands of dollars on that new stuff. Get an old Xbox (not a 360, the old xBox), then get it modded. Yeah, the graphics won't be as good as the new stuff, but you haven't gamed in a long time so you aren't going to miss that. You can buy an xBox for less than a third of the price that you will pay for a new system, and the games cost next to nothing. Then, for $200 get your box modded. There are hundreds of sites where you can look to get that done. Once that happens, you'll have emulators for all kinds of different old systems. NES, Sega Genesis, Atari 2600, your old Super Nintendo, name it, and you'll also have a whole lot of other media functions too. Do yourself a favor and look into what a modded xbox can do before you drop $185,000 on a PS3. Q: my check engine light is on in my 97 vw jetta. the reason it is on is because i unpluged the wire from my MAF sensor i started it up. unfortunatally the light wont go off. i went to advance auto and they checked the code and indeed it was the sensor. if anyone could tell me how to get the light off?: removing the negative lead is not the correct answer to this question. if you disconnect the battery you will undoubtedly have to reset the stereo, as all newer vw cars have theft protection stereos. that can be very pricey if you don't already have the theft reset code. the guys at advance auto should have shut the light off for you. being a '97 it has an OBD2 connection, and should be reset using the scan tool that told you what the light was on for. the computers in newer cars will also hold their memory for much longer than the old OBD1 systems, and some vehicles you can leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes and still have a code stored in your computer. you should definitely take your car back to advanced auto or a local parts store and ask them to clear the code from your computer with their scan tool and that will shut it off safely.

Q: did it . now driving it in to word the windshield wipers were very slow making me think it not charging. any ideas???? already cleaned posts. already put new battery.: The headlights in many cars will get a bit brighter when you rev the engine a bit, this shows that the charging system is working properly. Also you can measure the voltage across the battery with the engine off, then with the engine on, then rev it a bit. Engine off should be 12 or 12.5, engine on should be 13 or 13.5 at most.

Q: I got some ebay projector headlights for my camaro. I should of listened to the majority of people who say ebay projectors suck. Before you get in trouble (what you've done is illegal), get back to the original halogens, which are the only legal solution. You may look for the new improved brightness bulbs from reputable manufacturers, just make sure they have the original power (60W main, 55W dipped), otherwise you may bake the headlamp protective cover and coating. Real industry-grade HIDs cost much more and require their projectors, auto leveling system and headlamp washer. In other words, they must be factory-installed.
